After visiting several of the communities here in Lincoln, I selected The Landing, put my name on their list and waited for a call. Bridge to Better Living never just left it at that, I received phone calls, cards and invitations to functions. They always were there along with The Landing's communications. We'd heard that many desirable communities have long waitlists and were advised to start looking one to two years in advance. But where do you begin? We were fortunate to discover Bridge to Better Living, a senior transition consulting service serving the Lincoln and Omaha areas. Bridge to Better Living doesn't charge clients; instead, they're compensated by the senior retirement community if a placement occurs. Importantly, they don't "sell" you on any location--they listen. Bridge to Better Living took the time to understand our social, physical, medical, and financial needs, then recommended senior living communities that aligned with our goals. We chose which ones to visit, and our consultant arranged tours at times that worked for us--accompanying us every step of the way. We toured four communities and narrowed it down to two. When we struggled to decide, our consultant suggested we share a meal with a couple living at each location to get more of a sense of daily life. She arranged those visits , too--again, with no pressure, just support. Thanks to Bridge to Better Living, we made a confident, informed decision and couldn't be happier. The person that we saw most often was Jodi who arranged and accompanied us on most of our visits. She was responsive, insightful, and always just a quick text away. A friend who runs another business told me they aren't a good place to work. They lie and are arrogant about everything while they act out their job.

Because that previous experience is so much fun and interesting working with great staff and wonderful residents, I thought volunteering there would be the perfect place. I called the office and spoke with a woman. I told her what I wanted to do but she was very rude. She transferred the call to another person. The next woman was just as rude as the previous one. I decided not to volunteer with Eastmont. I didn't want to surround myself with rude and grumpy staff. I did get a call from upper management. She was very kind. I appreciated her apologizing for her rude employees. Eastmont gives great care to its residents. I hope that never changes. Since renovating their facility/home, it is a beautiful and comfortable environment. I gave them a lower review so they will learn to hold people accountable. I believe everyone should be treated with kindness and being polite.

Mom played Bingo and won snacks, watched movies, was involved in Tasty Tuesday, participated in wonderful craft projects and there was also a a variety of entertainment brought in for the residents. Carol was a very caring person who made the residents feel special with every interaction. Sadly, Carol is leaving Eastmont May 2024 (budget cuts?). Eastmont will not be the same without Carol!

Morton House is located just off one of the main streets as you come through Nebraska City. It's an…read moreassisted living facility that helps care of seniors in need of some extra care, but not ready for a nursing home. We moved my grandmother here late last year after some time in another facility in Omaha. The main reason was for lack of a better explanation, her boyfriend had passed away and she needed to be closer to other family. The level of care she received her was second to none, the previous place while perhaps fancier on the surface, didn't compare to the personal care she received from the staff at Morton House. When she passed away last week, you could tell that she wasn't merely a resident, she was part of their family. Now my grandmother was stubborn and probably a handful at times, but could also be the life of the party. You could tell they had the patience for the stubborness and a fondness for her vitality. If my parents don't shape up soon, I'll probably just put them here! In all seriousness, just a great place to have a loved one, you'll know they'll be well looked after.

She also enjoys the exercise program they offer and is so much improved from the time she spent in rehab. They are very encouraging and interested in the individual. If there's a better place in Lincoln, I don't know where it would be!

There were many vulnerable residents that came down with covid following this event. They have no regard for the people they are responsible for. Preceding the covid, there was general neglect and lack of care. The manager and head nurse are the most ineffective and do not give a crap about your family members, which is obvious since they can't be bothered to reach out when someone under their care passes away. Also if you actually read the positive reviews- you'll see a theme in that a vast majority are from people who work there or visit but don't actually have a family member living at The Knolls. Every time they get a negative review they probably ask their staff to make a positive one.
