Don't come here if you're a woman or if you care about women playing golf. The staff are sexist and very rude. Made multiple comments that's ended in "you have to be a spectator" despite us paying for all 4 to golf. The woman in our group is not a pro golfer / does it for fun and mainly uses a hybrid club which she carries around (of note, this has never caused a slow game, delays; she is better and faster than 1 of the men in our group). The staff didn't like that she didn't have a bag with a full set of clubs. Additionally, someone on a golf cart came up to the group multiple times to ensure the woman in the group was not golfing, as if he was patrolling. Insane. Never experienced this before at any other MetroPark golf course. Will not be returning to Seneca. Such an upsetting experience to experience and witness such overt sexism. read more

Have played here several times this through 2025 without issue. Course is well maintained, however had a 5:40pm tee time today for nine holes and ended up playing behind a group of walkers which slowed play. Finished up our nine a little before 8pm at dusk and was read the riot act by one of the course employees for starting a hole after 7:30pm telling us they needed the daylight for leagues. No one in our group was told we could not start a hole after 7:30pm so we just played through the nine holes. Now that it's getting darker early would not recommend booking any tee times after 5pm if you want to finish nine holes. read more

The park system encircling Cleveland is gorgeous, but Seneca golf course is the turd in the punch bowl! Should have read the reviews first, as rude staff and indifferent management seems to be a recurring theme. Visiting from SoCal, I tried to get a walkon, the course was dead as a door nail at 2 pm. I wanted to get two carts and a walker for a five some. The starter said they don't do fivesomes, and when I told him we do ready golf with fives all the time in California, he fake yelled back to someone in the back asking if he ever heard of such a thing. Then he motioned to the nine holes under construction with dust swirling and heavy equipment, and said that was the only option that might be available; not even an offer to split the group. Another smartass at the starters stand piped up and said we don't do that in Ohio with the strong inference that I go back to where I came from. The starter shrugged his shoulders and said he couldn't help me. Since this was my late father's favorite course which he played weekly, I thought a quick 9 holes with family members would be nice. Needless to say, there's no excuse to have a starter at a public course with an attitude like this to visitors or support an unwelcoming atmosphere. In our multiple cross country trips, the most unwelcoming golf course in the country used to be at Vail, CO; guess which mistake on the lake has bumped it out of first place. Our fivesome packed up our just purchased bag of Metropark's overpriced beers, and hoofed it over to Briarwood where we were warmly welcomed and put on the course immediately. Seems that fivesomes and good attitudes ARE allowed in Ohio, just not in the fiefdom of Seneca. Seems the CEO of metroparks isn't concerned either, as a letter to him only resulted in an email by an underling trying to "handle" me. Judging by the boilerplate language, it seems he is used to fielding these complaints. read more

We played the back A course on August 5. 2023. It needs a lot of work. Fairways are all brown. The other thing is the clubhouse only has one women's room Cuyahoga county step up please fix that. Should be discounted until repaired read more

I like the course layout and great bunkers. Greens are fine to me. Fairways and rough are good. But it's so slow and dam rangers do nothing but look for old golf balls. Worst part is there's this impenetrable brush plus thick heather chaparral crap that lines NEARLY every hole! WTH! never seen another course have this. Anywhere. Too penalizing and slows down play greatly . Every errant shot gets swallowed up in this crap. I didn't lose a ball but others I played with did. No hole should have this lining both sides. Cmon. Clear out half this crap and you speed up play greatly and make it fair. Pros never have to play with this crap! 5 and half hour round plus! Ridiculous. read more

Have not played Seneca since the Metroparks took over from the City of Cleveland. The course is coming back to the beauty it was years ago. The Chippewa nine was in great condition, the Baldwin nine, while better than it was, could still improve. The tee boxes were rock hard and made it hard to get the tee into the ground, not so on the Chippewa nine. Glad to see my tax dollars going to improve this gem. My group will be back. The pace of play was a little on the slow side because of a girls high school match in front of us, but to their credit they did finish in 4 hours which was not the same as the week before when we got stuck behind a group of boy high schoolers from Pauda at Pleasant Valley. I like what the Cleveland Metroparks is doing to the course to make it a more interesting and playable golf course. However, play was really slow with no apparent attempt made to speed it up. It took our group nearly five hours to play and we quit with one hole to play because of rain. I saw a ranger on duty, but I don't know what he was doing as he did nothing to speed up play. There was an outing or league ahead of us with several foursomes, with lead foursome at least a hole behind. Very disappointing. I will probably go back, but if the pace of is what I experienced today, I will not go back. read more

Since we started golfing here many years ago, we have seen quite a positive transformation on this course. This course is beautiful again with all the attention to detail in the past few years, it has become a top rated course. The all purpose trail that was recently completed and now spans the entrance is a nice opportunity for the kids to walk/bike while parents play a few rounds. It can be a challenging course in a parts, but with grand expanse vistas and beautiful views. It is definately worth the check out and is once again one of our top favorites. Lot's of wildlife and peaceful feel. read more

This is the worst place I've ever been golfing. Staff was very condescending to us and bothered us almost every hole we played because we had 6 people (even though we bought two tee times and were keeping the pace with the other groups). First we were going to slow apparently and then they got on us about going to fast, not even in a nice way, extremely condescending and rude to us just because we were young. I'm never coming back here again, this place needs to learn how to treat people because it was an extremely unenjoyable experience. read more

Played 18 walking Baldwin and Chippewa on a Tuesday morning in four hours. I am an average golfer and played bogey golf on a beautiful day. The Seneca Fairways and Greens are coming in nicely after recent course renovations. Maintenance crew wisely placed stakes and signage at key locations to keep golf carts away from the greens although I did see a few golfers ignore the measures taken to keep the grass healthy near the greens. Some grass areas around Greens have turned to dust from what I assume is cart damage. The Greens are in great shape and most are very easy to read. Kudos to Cashier, Starter and Ranger staff who were all friendly and helpful in my first visit back to the course since 2010. read more

The Cleveland Metroparks has renovated two of the nines and are working on a third. The renovated section have more traps, contours and larger greens, which along with the improved drainage makes them a joy to play. Bigger water hazards on a few holes make you place you shots rather than just grip it and rip it. The new fairways have matured and are carpet like. The green are pretty flat but consistent and the US open roughy and high grass have been tamed. A course that used to be nearly unplayable is now a fun place to play read more

Seneca really disappointed me yesterday. For years this has been my "home course" but after today I cant see myself playing there again. Course is down to 27 holes and busy so they send us off on back 9. Two holes in a ranger asks us nicely to let a group playing 18 have priority. My group lets them pass at the very next tee box even though we already tee'd off. Then while in the middle of the fairway on the same hole a 2nd group (not associated with the other group) tees off over our heads while we are not even looking and almost hits me! We complain to the ranger and he just says they were playing thru. This is not the way to run a golf course. read more

Seneca has the potential to be an amazing golf course, but it just has some shortcomings. It's reasonably priced and pretty well kept on the greens. The rough is well rough. Good luck finding your ball! Driving on this course can be a hazard, very bumpy and uneven. I know a couple years ago they had to dig up a bunch for drainage reasons, but they never really fixed the grounds itself to make for a smoother fare way. Never the less, I really enjoy playing here. The course is pretty long and can be challenging on different holes, but I think that makes it more fun! The staff is super friendly and the carts are nice. The driving range is cheap and you can hit as many balls as you would like. Some may be too good for this place, but personally I like it and I'll continue to return! read more

This is my least favorite golf course in the CLE Metroparks system. The fairways aren't watered well, tee boxes same, hard to even get the tee in the ground. There is rough on both sides of every fairway throughout the course so if you mishit your ball, chances are you're not finding it! If you're looking for lower cost golf, any of the other CLE Metropark courses are better than this one. Also, Seneca is technically located in Broadview Heights, not Cleveland as stated on this site. read more

My girlfriend and I (22 & 24 y.o.) had a decent time at Seneca when we were golfing. Sure the green wasn't the best, but it's good enough for a local course. I just wanted to practice with my new set of clubs I got from a garage sale. My girlfriend had never went golfing before so I took her for the experience. We had a great time and finished 9 holes in about two hours. The place was pretty empty so it gave me a lot of time to help my girlfriend learn the do's/donts. However, despite our fun time golfing, I will never go back to Seneca because of the way the management treated her when we returned to the lodge. She already felt out of place being a new golfer, but the management were grilling her on "driving the golf cart all over gods green earth" "did you ever actually play golf [or just drive the golf cart]" and much more. He ended the conversation telling me that she would need to get her own golf bag because it's a one bag per player rule. This makes sure people aren't taking too much time on the hole. I fully understand that. However, the way in which these rules were told to my girlfriend were really demeaning and honestly left a sour taste in our mouth after having a lot of fun. Again, i understand the reasoning and importance of the 1 bag per person rule BUT it was just another thing added to the list of snide remarks to us on the return to the lodge. I'm sure my review doesn't seem that bad...but it was just one of those things you had to see. My friend who golfs a lot was there and heard the convo and said he wouldn't go back either. There's plenty of other options I can take my girlfriend to to practice and have fun without the snide remarks. read more

Don't waste your time. The managers are extremely rude and they give terrible customer service. We had a rude grounds keeper on a lawnmower chase us through the entire course. After the first nine holes we went inside to get some food, which was the only good part of the experience because they young girl who was taking orders and preparing them all single handedly was the most pleasant employee who worked there. Before going in for food there was a sign posted outside saying "5 minute parking for snack bar." Well it took over 5 minutes to order and receive our food and then another 7 or 8 to eat and head back out. When we got back out we immediately headed to the 10th hole, the same unpleasant manager sprinted over near and started screaming without and hesitation that we had our golf cart too close to the tee off area. We tried to handle the situation calmly and said "not a problem we'll move it back a little." Well he just started going off screaming more saying we should just get a refund and leave and then started complaining about we took 30 minutes inside the clubhouse. We informed him of his terrible customer service skills and he said he didn't care if he lost our business that he doesn't want us there anyway. It was just crazy how something so small got so far out of hand. Anyway he has lost our business and we won't be going back. The course isn't maintained well either. There's lot of flooded areas on the fairway and half the course's grass is dead and it's just dirt and mud. I feel bad for the girl at the snack bar. Unfortunately, we won't be going back. read more

Very Disappointing...Won't Return. I had hoped that when the Metroparks took over this course, it would be a nice place to play. Where to begin: Thick knee high grass/weeds line the fairways...hit your ball 10 yards off the fairway, it's lost unless you step on it. 2) you can easily lose balls even in the rough 5 yards off the fairway and with the clover, you can lose balls in the fairway. Yes they have beautified some holes by adding sand traps and the fairways and greens are decent., but unless you hit it on the fairway, you are slowing down play looking for your ball and 9-10 times you're not finding it. Glad I played it as a single as I could never bring our group to play here! Stay away unless you enjoy slow play, losing balls and frustration! read more
