I'm not a fan.
Dr. Bayla is very much to the point.
When I walked in and shook her hand and said " nice to meet you" she said that I could not know yet if it was nice to meet her.
When I smiled at her, after she gave me water, she said " well, that's a smile that was plastered on! You don't have to smile, you can just say thank you".
HUH????
I get it: it is all psychology, the way some people feel they always have to be nice, smile and have a hard time saying no or whatever else she deals with when it comes to clients, but what about just plain old manners?
After being misdiagnosed by a very crappy psychiatrist, I am now trying to get off the wrong meds he gave me. My CNS has been out of whack because of it and it makes it hard for me to exercise until I get better. Still, doctor Bayla said I should sign up for water aerobics. Or go horseback riding again.
Well, not only do I NOT have a pony in my pocket, I also can't drive because of the dizzines I have due to above mentioned wrong meds. But she insisted I try anyway.
Maybe not such a good idea to suggest to go driving on the highway with severe vertigo?
It's the kind of office where more than one doctor has a practice and there is a reception desk and common waiting room.
The ladies at the desk don't acknowledge you at all. I stood there with my check for about 5 minutes until someone even looked up. and I was the only person there at the moment.
How was I supposed to know to push a light up button with the Doctors name on it so she knows I'm there? Nobody ever talked to me. I guess if you're familiar with this kind of office that's obvious, but it was my first time.
I did not care for the coldish attitude. I don't expect a therapist to hold my hand and hug me ( please no!) but a smile or any kind of sympathy would be nice.
You have to pay 200 dollars for the initial consultation. And then 175 after that, per 50 minutes. Many therapists, I found out later, offer a free 20 minutes or so consult to see if there is a click.
I called dr. Bayla after two sessions to let her know I was no longer coming in and was going a different route. She communicates via voicemails, so I left her a message.
She never called me back. I guess just taking the 375 I spent so far was enough and it made me feel even better about my decision not to keep seeing her.
I think she has been doing this for so long that it made me feel like the routine hamster wheel thing. Too clinical for me.
I give her a star because of the coffee she offers. And another one because she is not unfriendly per sé. Just not the one for me and I wanted to share. I'm sure it would work well if you don't care about who you spill your thoughts to. I would like to feel that someone cares, at least enough to make you feel comfortable while you tell them what's going on deep inside you. read more
