The Hire part has now relocated to Brandon Hire on Nottingham Road. The Builder Centre staff are generally pleasant and friendly, but due to the inclusion of several departments you need to make sure you are speaking to the right member of staff from each department, otherwise you may be met with a blank look, so this can be frustrating at times. You need to know what you are after as it's not really a place you can browse around. However, it is not exclusive to trade customers only, members of the public can shop there too.

We then called to place the order with our debit card and Dale was exceptionally rude, lacked the most basic of customer service skills and denied all knowledge of any conversations or quotations being provided - despite us having the email quotation in front of us. We asked if we could speak to a manager or director and Dale refused and said the only way you can speak to anyone is by email. We then called back to complain and spoke to Mr Currie who claimed to be the duty manager. Mr Currie had very similar levels of poor customer service, continually spoke over me, was rude and during the call said that I was incompetent at computers and I must be not be doing very well at the moment and must be having a bad day. Quite frankly we are shocked at the experience with this company - all we were doing was calling up to pay for a quotation that had already been provided - how hard can this really be! Should have been a 2 second call, heres my card details and the delivery address. Clearly both Dale and Mr Currie need extensive customer service training.

Gee Jays is a local bargain hot spot. It has 2 floors of various items, from tea towels, to…read morestationery, to power tools. It is worth looking in Gee Jays before buying anything from B&Q or similar places. They have stock clearance items and regular stock as well. The stock varies widely and is regularly updated to accommodate seasonal stock. If you are doing a spot of DIY I imagine you can get everything from here, as they have paint, brushes and cleaning equipment. The main downsides to this shop are: 1) Parking, there are a few spaces on the road outside, but the shop is a 5 min walk out of town; 2) Accessibilty with wheelchair, pram or similar. I find it hard to navigate a pram around, so have to make arrangements to go there on my own.

The fitters well where do I start. They come to fit the carpets and decide they are not doing it because furniture needed moving. Walking out saying you need to rebook and pay an extra £60 for us to move the furniture. Also telling other contractors how to do their job?? They were promptly told don't worry about my job and don't tell me how to do my job concentrate on your own. Seems the fitters had problems with females Use these at your own risk.

As the nearest B&Q is over 20 minutes away they have a thriving local market and sell a very wide range of hardware for your DIY projects. They also sell timber for home projects and mails screws etc. You can purchase screws and nails individually which makes a change from having to buy a whole packet in B&Q! I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in need of something for some home.
