As a…read moreswimmer, I prefer doing my hour of laps outside when the weather is nice, so I do my best to tolerate the "cons." The pool is primarily for swimming lessons, and since I consider swimming a life skill, I definitely get the priority. Family swim and open swim is during the afternoons, only til 3:00 during the week, and then 7-8:30 evenings. Lap swimming is early morning, from 6:00-8:00 am, all five lanes. At noon, there are only 3 lanes available from 12:00-1:10. During the evening swim, there are 2 lanes from 5:10-7:25. Weekend swims, all 5 lanes are available from 12:00-1:00 and 4:30-6:00. There are a lot of dedicated swimmers, same people every year. If there are more than 2 people in a lane, you have too circle swim. Often there are 5-6 people circle swimming. Even if every one in the lane is comparable as swimmers, it is challenging! The lanes are marked slow, medium and fast, but speed is relative to who is swimming that day. People come and go so often the lane has people of varying speeds. Lifeguards are there to watch for drownings, they rarely pay attention or discipline the swimmers who get what I call "swim rage" and intimidate the others in their lane. Portland Parks ends the season a week before the end of August. Every year it seems like they close sooner in our already short season. Just 2 years ago, they stayed open until September 15th, which all of us swimmers loved because we had all 5 lanes for lap swimming everyday. The showers and bathrooms are what you would expect. I'd never walk in there barefoot. Ever. There are recliners and seats available. On crowded days, it's hard to get a chair but usually it's not a problem. All that being said, I look forward to the 2.5 months a year the pool is open and I go every day for my swim.

That's why I'm obsessed with this new find in the Southwest community! This neighborhood community center has cool activities like two indoor pools. One is designated for laps- 9 feet deep and the other includes a wading pool with slide, up to 4 ft and 6 inches at the deepest. I also love that there is a shower and lockers open for use so you can clean up before heading to the pool. The kids seem to absolutely love it - there are tons of other families with little ones. Open pool time is ~ 2-4pm, go early so you can get in. There's a capacity limit, our visit happened to be 75. If want to make it, BE THERE EARLY. Can not stress this enough. It is not the staff's fault if you can not get in. There are standards for a reason. You do not want to be cooped up in a space where it can not accommodate for more than what's expected. You also want to keep in mind that there are lifeguards to look out for everyone's safety and well being, so please be mindful of that as well! There are also other parts of the center to enjoy, such as an indoor basketball gym, rollerskating sessions, aqua aerobics, gym, and even dancing. It's the perfect blend of family-friendly fun and adult-approved relaxation. If you're looking for a place with a strong sense of community, stunning scenery, and a pool that's basically its own mini-vacation destination, then this is your spot! Totally recommend it! P.S. Their lap swim schedule is horrible. After work, between 4-6 pm: only 2 lanes for "multiple" swimmers AND joggers. Yes turtles and dolphins together in the lane! The rest 4 lanes for swim lessons. If you swim you know how annoying it is to get blocked by joggers. One thing for you to think about; with respect those joggers that have all the floaty devices, shouldn't they go jog at the deep end or just any available spots in the pool? They don't need lanes. Lap swimmers need lanes, with clear direction and separated fast and slow lanes. And this year, no open-swim at the end of the hot sweaty days because they have to keep 2 lanes for little kids swim class *at the shallow area* ok that's fine but why waste of resource at the deep end. And one lane reserved for "private lesson". Ok thprd you value private lesson but that's only 40 bucks at most you get. The reality is, it doesn't serve teens and adults who want to practice their strokes, lets face it this lane out of six serve ONE wealthy kid. Where is equality you stand for? It is stupid decision of management. Swim center supervisor should understand the use of the pool especially in small community that have so many young children. Another thing to think about, ONE kid common! What a privilege. Thprd, ask neighborhood if you can't come up with a better idea for scheduling. Please ask. We pay tax. We send our kids to swim lessons continually for 10 years we have a lot of valuable inputs. We are good members who always follow the rules and clean up the park. We want to swim. Yes! Sam is now an independent and confident swimmer. He is working on increasing his strength with his strokes and loves his time in the pool. Thank you to Kristen and Jamal for all you've taught him! The only thing that holds me back from 5 stars for Dolfun Swim is that communication with the administration staff can challenging. But once your child is enrolled, you can be confident your time in the water will be time and money well spent!

There are some parking spots in front and also street parking, but on busy days parking can be limited. There is plenty of room to find a spot to put down a blanket or chairs. The only thing to consider is that there is bird/duck poop (it's a lake) on the ground so plan accordingly. The food options are okay and my kids love that there are slushies. There are several areas to swim in per the level/age of the swimmer. We appreciate that there are lifeguards there as well. If the kids need something to do outside of playing in the lake there is basketball, shuffle board, ping pong, and a play structure.

The beach area is covered with lots of trees from large trees, there is plenty of room to picnic (grills available), a snack bar, restrooms, playground and lake access. This beach is closed to everyone except those that live within the boundaries of a Lake Grove School District. Fortunately I have friends who live on the canal and I'm invited out often for boat rides and to anchor and swim in the swimming hole by this beach. Water is surprisingly warmer than I ever predict, but still a cool and refreshing 77 which feels awesome on a hot summer day. This summer, 2020, we enjoyed many pop-up concerts where the band performed on a barge. Missing all the concert and movies in the park, this was a welcomed way to enjoy summer while being socially distanced. My favorite day is July 4th when the town of Lake O lights fireworks over the lake. This is open to anyone, but obviously it's super crowded so if you plan on watching from the beach, get there super early! We watch from the boat, anchoring and tying up with other boats, and then enjoy the magnificent display of fireworks and their reflection on the water while sipping wine, enjoying snacks and great conversation. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! Sadly, the fireworks were cancelled in 2020, along with most everything, but I still spent several heavenly days and evenings on the lake.

There's no repetition in the class. The children are unable to practice the skill since it is only done once and then they are shown a new skill. 3. They do not make an effective use of the pool. There's only two classes in the shallow end of the pool yet they are both crammed in one corner so the preschool class has a very limited space since the school age class is swimming across. The preschool instructor is constantly getting bumped by the other class. The solution to this would be scooting the preschool classes over near the single lap lane since that space is not being utilized at all. 4. Lack of adult management, this place is runned by kids. If you're serious about getting your child to learn to swim. Look elsewhere!
