Their instructors truly listen to kids and meet them where they are. The coaches are calm, present, consistent, and incredibly kind. They take the time to build trust and confidence. Now my once water-avoidant tween cannonballs into the deep end with his friends. My younger child has thrived here too; he went from no swim skills to strong streamlines and rollovers in just a few months. I especially appreciate their focus on real safety skills, like making sure every child can back float to breathe so they have a way to self-rescue. One instructor was very helpful at first, and we were told the same instructor would continue working with him. In the next class, that instructor was no longer available and my child was placed with a different instructor. During the lesson, he became very upset and had difficulty continuing the session while in the water. After that experience, he stopped wanting to continue and refused to enter the building. We were still charged for the following month, and a refund or transfer was not approved. Communication around makeup lessons and billing was also not clear. Overall, we decided not to continue.

My son had to go through the Dept of Labor to finally get paid for work done. It seems pretty unethical for an adult team administrator to take advantage of a minor. We had previously taken our younger 3 kids off the team due to inexperienced coaching, rapid coach turnover, and bad accounting where our bills were regularly wrong so I'm not sure if the refusal to pay was some sort of retaliation. Now we swim at CAT and have none of these issues with better coaching and better facilities.

I've spoken to Lauren and a couple of other girls, and they've been incredibly knowledgeable and helpful getting me established. The location has plenty of parking and I truly appreciate how they use a private entrance to keep their families safe. They share the pool area at the LA Fitness, but it's clear they have many safety protocols in place to protect their clients. Another example of this is: the staff wear face shields in the pool while instructing the children. I really appreciate they care holistically about the children's safety. The pool area and locker rooms are spotless and clean - a must! Teacher David was our swim instructor. He was the best part of our experience. David was super respectful, knowledgeable, and great with kids. He gave me tips for teaching my daughter safe water practices and what we can practice with her at home. I highly recommended this program for anyone who wants to feel safe in a swim class and to leave confidently knowing your child is learning life saving skills in the water! My experience with SafeSplash has been very disappointing, and I haven't even started classes yet…read more I initially enrolled online but had several questions because the schedule was confusing, the swim levels weren't clearly explained, and the website didn't provide enough information. When I called, I was already three-quarters of the way through the enrollment process. The representative asked me to cancel my online enrollment so he could enroll me over the phone, saying I'd get a better price. It ended up being exactly the same price. I also asked multiple times about private lessons because my schedule is very limited. Instead of answering my question, the representative kept talking about creating a group class. I had to explain several times that I wasn't looking for a group class--I wanted private lessons on a schedule that worked for me. Eventually, we found one group class that fit my schedule, and it was literally the only time I could attend. I enrolled and paid the annual registration fee based on that schedule. Then, on the day the class was supposed to start, SafeSplash changed the class time, making it impossible for me to attend. Since then, I've called twice and have been promised a callback within 48 hours, but no one has followed up. I've also been told that the annual registration fee is non-refundable because my class "already started"--even though the reason I can't attend is because they changed the schedule after I enrolled. I understand that schedules sometimes need to change, but customers shouldn't be penalized or charged a non-refundable fee when the company changes the only class they were able to attend. I hope SafeSplash reconsiders how it handles situations like this and improves both its communication and customer service. I'm happy to change my review if you change my experience. C. Travis

After numerous failed attempts at teaching myself, I booked a private lesson with Colleen. Over the course of two hours, she taught me all about operating my machine, basic stitches, entry-level sewing tools, and I even made a drawstring bag! She was kind, patient, encouraging, and a FANTASTIC instructor. I can't wait to take some of her group classes!! The store itself is great. Lots of sewing supplies that are of higher quality and will last you a while. The people who work here couldn't be nicer or more helpful. If you feel intimidated by learning to sew, this is a perfect spot to start learning. Even if you're already a great sewer, you'll find everything you need here. They have a spacious section in the back where they teach group and individual classes; you can also rent a desk/machine if you need some higher end equipment to work with.
