I came to the we at 1:57 sat in the waiting room until 9:20 when I finally asked what was going on…read moreand I was told I had been discharged by hours ago! Never saw a doctor had X-rays done around 4p. Now I'm starting the process all over again, if I could walk I would have left hours ago!

Hamot needs to read this article on medical ethics below…read more . My relative went there with a horrible toothache and a proven history of past heart attacks. He was in agony due to a toothache and is not supposed to take aleve due to kidney issues Tylenol won't touch the pain for him he knows this. Aleve and ibuprofen are jokes for tooth aches and he is supposed to avoid them I am sure you are good people and mean well but your actions and policies are cruel and they don't have to be . He has no idea how long it might take to see the dentist he just realized this is acute. He already tried to tough it out with over the counter meds but at first he came here not due to pain but in fear he was having a heart attack. But as he sat here the pain got unbearavble. He is over 60 and rarely visits the ER and only does for heart issues and you could easily see that he never asked for pain meridine at the ER in the past. This time he did - --- he pointed out he slept 3 hours last night. THis is an elderly patient who has had cardiac issues has a medical history locally online and they could validate the cause of his pain. it was more than just the tooth. the first dr was very nice and was going to help find something which by the way he only asked for nerve medicine as it had helped i the past. Teeth are part of your neurological system and surely there is some nonaddictive pain medicine you can find for teeth if that is the concern. The second dr said just use aleve which is not sufficient! --watch wanda sykes on ibuprofen. We had just come back from a show and it was a weekend. We left tht show at inter issue due to his pain shooting in his face. He also had a high 175/101 blood pressure which was because of the pain! this is just cruelty on wheels. You are so busy trying to avoid drug shoppers--who would show a history of tons of visits to the ER etc etc --that you deny empathy and compassion to those who need it the most. You could have seen that he literally had a broken bone months ago but did not ask for special pain medicine. But now he was in agony and he is a cardiac patient and I am beside myself seeing him suffer for no reason at all. Please read this on the ethics of pain management. You could have just given him a few days worth. But now he is suffering greatly. https://journalofethics.ama-assn.org/article/why-must-pain-patients-be-found-deserving-treatment/2008-01 everyone there was very nice and cordial. But you didn't give him the dignity to get the simple treatment he needed --you could have done it and you didn't. We are leaving upmc medical plan and may never go to hamot med center again. You easily should be able to see the history and figure out who is actually in pain. But hamot doesn't care enough about patient suffering to figure out a protocol to give them pain medicine that is just and compassionate . Are you a football coach telling people to just bear the pain like they are competing for some tough guy award or a compassionate doctor? get some counseling this was cruel. Read the ethics article by the AMA on this topic There are many studies showing that Tylenol does not work AT all for many people based on genetics .

However, my only complaint is the 2nd shift nurse who was assigned to me (I believe her name was Ryan). When she was putting in my IV, she was having difficulty. I told her she was causing me unnecessary pain and asked her to stop and just try again in another site, but she didn't listen to me and kept trying to get it by redirecting and the site infiltrated and fluid was running under the skin. She eventually stopped after maybe one minute of that. It was painful and I had a huge black/blue bruise on my arm for the next two weeks from that. She has no concern for my pain/discomfort and was extremely rude about it. Other than that, I have no complaints. I would come here again for any health concerns, but I definitely will not let that same nurse anywhere near me.

Very inconsiderate as it was 12:30 in the morning and woke me out of a dead sleep. The next morning was a whole different shift of employees. I had to ask 3 times within an hour for pain medicine. Also called staff for other help and was greeted with their attitude. Not my problem you are unstaffed. you have a job to do and get paid. I have no say so how much you bill my insurance. No one should have to be treated like this.

I could not be more happy with the care my dad was given at Saint Vincent's. On Thursday afternoon…read morehe was admitted after having a heart attack. Dr Mecca was in the room within an hour, calmly and patiently explaining next steps. After a procedure, Dr Mecca took myself and members of our family into a debriefing room to show us images, explain what it all meant, and constantly asked if we had any questions. We were allowed to see my dad at every transition. They set him up with surgery the very next day. Dr. Person was there with him at night and after his surgery. He told us everything, encouraged questions, was polite, professional, and did everything with a smile. Absolutely impeccable bedside manner. Every single nurse we encountered was caring and kept us 100% informed. We were assigned a liaison (Joe) in the waiting room who told us about the procedure, and called down to surgery to give us an update every 2 hours. This is a BRILLIANT idea. When my dad had brain surgery at Buffalo General, we were left wondering and worrying for hours, checking a board, with no one to talk to. Even the chef in the cafeteria saw me wandering a bit and came out to say "Can I help you find something that you'll like?" and walked around with me until I got a great breakfast. The food they sell is so reasonably priced, I couldn't believe it. I've been to hospitals where they jack up the price because they know your options are limited. Whatever the hiring process, keep at it. Thank you for making my family feel cared for during some of the most difficult days of our lives.

I…read morefelt as though I was being belittled and treated like I had a learning disability by one Doctor in particular (Dr. Slabic) who was my hospitalist. Although it was clear I was obviously in unbearable pain since the moment I had walked in, this Doctor continued to act as if I was lying about the pain. When it came to me leaving the hospital they refused to send me home with anything at all to help manage how uncomfortable I am although once I was emitted (very poorly and untimely) they began attempting to help with pain management. Mind you I was diagnosed while emitted with multiple medical problems that cause very severe pain. After being there for several days, leaving in the same amount of pain I came in with and most likely making a trip to an ER soon since I am in agony is unacceptable! I will avoid ever returning to this hospital at all cost.

Each and every doc in this practice is 5 stars. I loved all of them. Dr. Achenbach is my primary here but if you are pregnant you see all of them. If that is not what you are looking for, you should seek a different Ob Gyn. We are expecting our first and tried one smaller practice before coming here. The Doctor we saw there was awful, treated us like a number and not like newly excited expecting parents. I did a little research and found this practice. When I called I explained my previous experience and the scheduling lady connected us with Dr. Abraham. He had been phenomenal. He treats us like people, asks us questions, let's us ask questions, and has helped me have a fairly stress-free first pregnancy experience. Dr. Abraham isn't the only one that has made our experience enjoyable. The ladies at the reception desk are kind, the intake nurse is a sweetheart, and all but one of the other Doctors in the practice that we have seen have been great. The checkout ladies sometime lack a little personality but you can't have it all! I am so happy we found this practice and will stay with them through this pregnancy and our future adventures!

I just had a baby girl and decided to get dinner. the cafeteria was closed so I was walking back down the hall which just happens to be ALL the way across the hospital and while walking I overheard the cop I passed on the way to the cafeteria telling the other cops I looked suspicious and needed watched. I have on multiple wristbands and rather than just ask me as I walked by he just felt it necessary to say those things loud enough for me to hear. it made me feel like a criminal for coming to a woman's hospital for my my wife's pregnancy. I was unable to eat anymore from anything but the vending machine on my floor (which has horrid snacks) I have high anxiety and the police here made my anxiety got the best of me and I was afraid to walk back down to any other floors but the one I was on. As much as i I loved the nursing staff and would love to keep them, I'll be switching my new babies care to se St. Vincent due to this. I just can't justify going to a place where people are treated like criminals for no good reason.
