I bought a townhome in Daybreak from Sego, it has been 4 years since it was built. We have encounter a lot of plumbing issues since the end of the 3rd year and Sego said the home is out of warranty. We are talking changing a water softener they sold us and installed (we had to replace it on our own), the main shower bathroom membrane seal is broken which may have mildew and mold, and the main water line connection which can cause a basement flooding. Unfortunately, these are things we cannot inspect or see until they break. Now warranty is not helping us because it has been more than one year since we bought the home. I moved to Daybreak into the sego town homes in August. I've saved my review until now in order to have an honest review. I fell in love with the layout and the look of the home. After inspecting it further, I realized there were quite a few imperfections in the home from building too fast, or perhaps laziness. The structural foundation seems to be fine, but there have been lots of little issues. Examples: the railing isn't straight, the kitchen cabinet handles have nails driving too far to where it sticks out and scratches you, there was a gap between the floor board and the base board that hadn't been filled properly, the stucco on our patio wasn't put up well and was deteriorating, the front door and the patio door weren't put in well so there were gaps that let in cold air and bugs from the outside, and many more. Luckily, there was a year warranty on the home in order to fix all of those little problems, so I wasn't too worried. It is now mid October. I've reached out to Sego close to a total of 10 times since August. At first, they would send people out to help, it wasn't the quickest, but it also wasn't too slow. They responded and fixed things roughly 5 times per our request. Once September hit, they haven't come to fix anything. They respond and say they'll help, but don't ever show up. We are still waiting on a number of things that honestly should have been fixed before we moved in. My concern is that our year warranty window is dwindling down, but we aren't receiving the help we were promised. We reached out again this week asking for our doors to be fixed since it's getting colder, and instead of fixing them, they dropped off some square pads and said to put them in the door to block off the cold. This will not fix the issue and comes across as unprofessional. Don't get me wrong, I love my home. But our post-buying service experience has not been great. We like the folks that we've worked with from Sego, but it appears that they are in over their heads. It seems that Sego is aggressively building new homes without building out the proper workforce they need to execute, leaving the quality of their homes very poor. My suggestion: heavily inspect your home before signing anything, and put it in the contract that those things need to be fixed before you move in. read more

We were willing to wait 8 months and move twice to get a new Sego townhome that had the right location, floorpan, etc. We were picky as buyers and had a lot of requests. You learn a lot about a builder and it's people over the course of 8-9 months. The Sego team was awesome. Everybody. The process was great and the Townhome turned out great. Spencer was the "Super" that managed the build and was always knowledgeable, accessible and fabulous to work with. This includes before the sale, during the build and also after the build was complete as well. Spencer is awesome. All of the ladies in the office were fabulous and always willing to answer questions. Many thanks to Brooke and Sandy for all of their professionalism and help. For us, Desi took care of the sale, paperwork, options (and tons of questions) She was always a pleasure to work with. Desi was always super responsive, friendly and professional. Always happy to look into various issues and make sure that everything was perfect and followed up on. This makes a massive difference to a buyer. If you are looking to build with Sego, I would highly recommend asking for Desi. She went above and beyond for us and in the end many of the things we love and the overall end result was fabulous because of her. We love our new Sego home and appreciate the approach of the company and the way they treat their buyers. From initial shopping and all the way through the purchase process it was obvious that they deliver a much higher standard than their competition. I am debating between a one star and two star. I went with two star because Sego fixed their mistake but I am still very disappointed. When our house was finished in spring 2020 apparently a valve for the refrigerant on our AC was not tightened sufficiently. And I get that mistakes happen so I'm not too upset about it. However, it caused refrigerant that should have lasted around 20 years to leak out in 2.5 which resulted in our AC failing on a night this month with record heat. By the time we were ready to our our baby to sleep it was almost 90 degrees in his room so we did what any parent would do and called an after hours HVAC company to come and help us make it through the night. Sego doesn't offer 24 hour service so it was the only choice we had. They came and told us that leaky refrigerant was the problem and they would help fill it up and replace our now burned out capacitor to help us until Sego could. It cost us $500 out of pocket. The next morning we called Sego right when they opened and they had their HVAC guy come and take a look and he eventually came to the same conclusion that a valve was too loose resulting in a refrigerant leak. They said it was "on the house" because it appeared to happen during the construction of our home. They made a big deal about how they take care of their customers and wanted to make it right even when the 1 year warranty was up on our home. They went on about how considerate it was and how they care about making their customers happy. That's where I have to disagree. During all this, I left a review on their Google page stating what happened and my ultimate disappointment that this went unnoticed when QC should have caught that on installation. I was called by their VP Spencer Corbridge asking me to take my review down. He said they felt like they had done their part and would appreciate a higher review. I expressed I would be happy to, if they refunded us the $500 that we had to pay out of pocket. He said he wouldn't do that because we went through a different tradesman than them. I asked what he would have had us do considering they were closed and our house was in a now non- livable condition especially for a baby. He gave me the run around and just said how Sego did more than should have been expected because our house was no longer under warranty. How were we supposed to know something was leaking until a problem presented itself? Did they expect us to sleep in a 90 degree house? Sego doesn't care about their customers or taking care of people who trust them to partner with them in making such a big investment and building a home with them. They only care about saving face and keeping an extra dime in their pocket. DO NOT BUILD WITH SEGO if you want to feel taken care of and respected. National more reputable home building companies do far more for the customers and will do what it takes to make things right. Sego does not. read more

Sandy, Desi, and Brooke have been very responsive in helping us out, even after we've moved into our home. If you value your money, sanity, sanctity of your home, peace of mind, and quality, Do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy a Sego home. I moved into a brand new townhouse in September of 2020. I bought the home coming out of the ground so that my wife and I could pick most of the interior colors and options. A couple of months in, I knew I had made a bad decision from working with the construction manager and sales staff. It is not even worth going into the details of the incompetence of all. It is now December. Sego has not or will not fix many of the items I had the most difficulty with including unimaginably poorly installed shelves I was charged over 400 dollar a piece. As aside, I was told they were doing me a favor installing them since they were not a standard option. I guess that is an excuse to do an inept job and $2000 dollars is an expensive favor. None of my furnaces had the gas turned on or the pilot lights lit (neither did my neighbors). I had a furnace quit during the coldest week of the year due to a evaporation pump hose being crimped in the wall (drywall cut - hose was stapled shut). I have a downstairs furnace you cannot replace the filter on without taking off the door to the furnace closet. The list goes on. I just a had a major water leak from a pipe going to my upstairs half bath from being punctured by a trim nail. The trim nails used are over 3 inches long and the nail guard was not properly placed. If my wife and I had not been at home the entire house could have been flooded. As is, we have significant damage on a 3 month old house that I am having to press hard to get Sego to understand water mitigation needs to be done. In addition, while I cannot speak for them, many of my neighbors have experienced numerous problems. Just speaks to the quality. There is none. Only the prices are high. My wife and I bought the home as our empty nester headed toward retirement home, but I am afraid what we bought is a nightmare. Don't step into my nightmare - AVOID SEGO HOMES AT ALL COST! read more

I cannot rave enough about Sego Homes! My husband and I decided to move to beautiful Utah and started looking at building a home. We looked at several areas & the second we entered Daybreak we knew we were home. Then, after looking at several builders, we looked at our new Sego home and knew immediately it was ours. We put in an offer on the spot and picked out all of our options that day and over the next few weeks from back in Texas where we were residing until our home was finished. They helped us add some custom touches that spoke to us and our specific needs. Building a home long distance may sound crazy but it was a breeze with Sego. Sandy was amazing and always communicated - sending us photos and updates along the way and can you believe they delivered our home on time??? Almost unheard of. We moved in and Mike and Spencer were unbelievably responsive to the little things that needed done and giving us great instructions and help on all the wonderful options we chose.
