Dear Valcourt Behavioral Health Administration,…read more I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding your clinic's current consent policy, which has created an unnecessary barrier to mental health services for my daughter. This appointment was not scheduled at random--it was a formal referral from Pediatric Associates Miami Lakes, my daughter's long-standing primary care provider. Their medical team specifically recommended Valcourt Behavioral Health for psychiatric services based on my daughter's existing needs. The goal was to ensure continuity of care, as she is already receiving mental health services at another location. Despite this referral, I was informed that unless I provide a court-issued full custody document, a death certificate, or obtain the other parent's signature, my daughter cannot be seen. I am her biological mother, her full-time caregiver, and I have full custody--yet this was not enough to move forward with treatment. I was told that because both parents are listed on the birth certificate, both must consent to care. This policy not only overlooks the complex realities of many families, but it also feels discriminatory toward single parents. There are countless situations where the other parent may be absent, uninvolved, out of state, deceased, or not safe to contact--and these are often sensitive, traumatic circumstances that are extremely difficult to explain over the phone. As a single mother of three children, I work hard every day to ensure my children receive the care they need. I felt judged, dismissed, and even punished for simply trying to do what's right for my daughter. The fact that your office, which provides psychiatric services, upholds such a rigid and one-size-fits-all policy is deeply troubling. It sends the message that some families--particularly single-parent households--are not welcome or supported. In our initial visit, the doctor identified something concerning and recommended further involvement. I understand that your team wants to act in the child's best interest, but preventing her from receiving continued care unless an uninvolved parent participates does not align with that goal. It undermines the very foundation of what trauma-informed mental health care should look like. I am more than willing to provide documentation verifying my identity, legal custody, and my child's residence with me. However, I respectfully request that your office re-evaluate this policy and offer more compassionate, flexible solutions for families like mine. Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. I hope for a response that reflects a genuine commitment to the well-being of children and the diverse realities of the families who care for them.

Worst place to treat your kids. therapist ANA rushes her sessions is unorganized and will close…read moreyour case for anything they change you $50 dollars. very money hungry place. for missing appointments which I NEVER did she just dropped my son because I rescheduled, I also had surgery and could not bring my son in so with no empathy she closed my case. also she never told me someone else advised me of this. she penalized my sons treatments for rescheduling appointments!!!! because at the end its just a business for her she DOES NOT CARE! they always wanted to see my son during school hours!! even after I explain to her he is a student he cant see you on school hours. she also was very careless with very little communication and empathy for my situation she never called me to see what was going on or to follow up with us at all just closed the case the quality of her services suck my experience was bad i wish i had picked a better more professional and caring provider, Also the type of care they provided was just to show up so she can get paid i don't recommend ANA nor i recommend VALCOURT
