The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. Both of my teenage boys said they wanted to go back here to eat again, and that's high praise from two picky eaters. I try not to give out 5-star reviews so that when I do, they stand out as someplace truly exceptional. I give Gasthaus zum Lindauer 5-stars for the best lunch we had in our 8-day vacation.
