1-Star Absolute Garbage. Do NOT Waste Your Money or Risk Your Health Here…read more This place is a total scam and a heartbreaking disappointment. I ordered two platters: one with rice, plantains, and "fried turkey," and another with red snapper, rice, and plantains. The portions were ridiculously tiny--like they were feeding toddlers, not grown adults paying real money. The "fried turkey" was basically a pile of bones and fat with almost zero actual meat. Dry, flavorless, no sauce whatsoever, and it looked like it had been sitting out for hours. The snapper was just as pathetic. I expected big things because the workers are Haitian. I thought, "Finally, authentic Caribbean food done right." Biggest letdown of the year. It tasted like nothing special at all--just bland, dry, cheap ingredients thrown together with zero care. No seasoning, no soul, no nothing. On top of being small, ugly, and tasteless, this garbage made my entire house sick. Both of my children had diarrhea all night, and I felt awful too. I was in shock that something this bad could come out of a kitchen. The guy taking orders and serving the food was zero help. When I asked about portions he just shrugged and said "it comes like that." No veggie options, no extras, nothing. Just take what we give you and shut up. For the ridiculous price they charge, this is straight-up robbery. You're paying premium for tiny, dry, nasty food that ends up sending your kids to the bathroom. If you care about your money, your time, or your family's health, stay far away from Caribbean Guys. This place is a savage disappointment. I'm begging everyone reading this--do not go. Let them close the doors because they clearly don't deserve to be in business. Zero stars if I could give negative. Avoid at all costs.

    Island Tings - Jerked Wings

Island Tings in Miramar definitely delivered if you're craving real Caribbean comfort food…read more I ordered the curry chicken and it was exactly what you want from a spot like this. The chicken was tender, well seasoned, and soaked in that rich curry sauce. It came piled over rice with veggies and potatoes mixed in, and the flavors were deep and authentic. You can tell it's the kind of food that's been cooked slow and done right. The portions were solid too definitely a filling meal. Perfect if you're hungry and want something hearty. The restaurant itself has a cool island vibe inside with the beach murals and bright colors that make it feel relaxed and laid-back. The setup is simple cafeteria style, so you move down the line and pick what you want, which keeps things moving. If you're in Miramar and want real Caribbean flavors without the fuss, this spot is worth the stop. Good portions, flavorful food, and a chill atmosphere.

The saving grace that this isn't a 1 star is the fact the food I was ABLE to get was good. Damn near 90% of the menu was out of stock and the service was not to par. Two girls working in the front each with air pods in and just giving little to no attention to people walking in. I ordered an ox tail plate with rice, peas, brown gravy, and Mac. It was pretty dang good which was the saving grace but irregardless I want to be able to say I want to go back and try out more items (if even available I saw a bunch of reviews saying they stuff out of stock and this was months ago too) but I don't know if it's worth the trip.

One thing that will always frustrate me is bad customer service, especially at a Black-owned…read moreestablishment where Caribbean people go specifically to support one another. At 3:07 PM, I called and spoke with a woman to place a pickup order: one fried fish and one oxtail with rice and peas and plantains. I was told plantains are not served until 5 PM, so I said that was fine and switched the side to steamed vegetables. She clarified it would be steamed cabbage, and I agreed. I then asked my father to pick up the food. He arrived at 3:39 PM, more than 30 minutes later, and the staff acted as though they had no idea what he was talking about. He called me asking if I had actually placed the order because they were telling him they didn't have it. I asked him to put me on speaker so I could speak with them. When I asked the woman why the order wasn't ready after being placed over 30 minutes earlier, she rudely replied, "Well you didn't talk to me. I don't answer phones." Excuse me? I don't know your internal process, but I do know I called and spoke with someone for about two minutes placing that order. I certainly didn't imagine it. I initially told my father to just leave, but since he was already there he asked them to make the order. I repeated the order to the woman and the call ended. I then called back and got the same woman again, as I recognized her voice. I explained the situation and she sighed deeply before saying, "Let me see because I'm here now." She put the phone down, I heard rummaging in the background, and then she came back and said, "He already placed the order." Ma'am, that was not what I asked. The question was why the order was never placed and ready for pickup when I called it in over 30 minutes earlier. Her response was simply, "Oh well I don't know, but the order is made now." At that point I told her I would be leaving a review. If I could leave zero stars for service, I would. The only reason this review is getting two star is because the food actually tastes good and they're a Caribbean restaurant. However, customer service matters. Being rude and dismissive when a customer politely asks about their order is completely unnecessary. A simple acknowledgment or accountability would have prevented this entire situation. My favorite Jamaican restaurant, Maam Jamaican Restaurant on Ives Dairy, closed and I was really sad about it. I also really miss the sweet oxtail flavor they used to have. I've been craving oxtails, and since they're closed and I wouldn't be cheating on them anymore, so I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, the seasoning wasn't too good on either dish, but the food was very fresh. Unfortunately, I will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant, and I will also be sharing this experience on other platforms.
