Frankly there isn't a lot you really NEED in this store but there's an awful lot of stuff that you can't help wanting. From polka-dot luggage to bamboo or garland curtains, from Bollywood posters to recycled shopping baskets, you certainly can't walk in here and claim boredom. It reminds me of a more inspiring and ram-shackled version of Kath Kidtson- there's bunting, floral plates, printed bags- but everything is done with an original twist. The shop is packed with the most vibrant stuff..wrapping paper, cards, bangles, ornaments, jewellery, soaps, candle holders and more. You have to take a moment to let your eyes adjust but then you could spend literally hours rifling through the kitsch kitchen ware and pretty necklaces and hair ornaments. At Christmas, they have a great selection of colourful birds, perfect for jazzing up the Christmas tree. If you head to the back of the shop, you'll find pretty, reasonably-priced scarves and some really lovely handmade cushion covers. If you're in need of a present, but are lacking inspiration, Black Out will probably provide the answer. I usually find there's just too much to choose from!

Two of my favourites: the tray of push-pins that leaves an imprint of your hand (or face) and a Newton's Cradle (that set of clicking balls.) Glitzstore also sells the usual items, like mugs, cards, candles, gift wrap and bags, calendars and party supplies. Service was friendly and helpful - while I was browsing, one of the sale clerks helped a woman choose from the large selection of confetti. This was definitely the most interesting and nostalgic of the gift stores I've seen in Brighton. I recommend it - especially if you remember the 80s.

If you're a fan of extremely cheap tat, and need a gift for a friend whom you know nothing about, this is the best place to go. I normally find these kind of gifts can be found just before the check-out in supermarkets, or in pound-shops or similar: cheap, rubbish bits and pieces that wouldn't go out of place being found inside a Kinder Surprise, if the eggs were bigger. It is particularly disappointing to see this sort of shop in somewhere as vibrant and original as the Lanes as well: I can't imagine who would willing shop here. Also, who are the gifts for? Does anyone ask for a bear in a rude pose as a gift? Or a duck in bondage gear? These aren't gifts, these are stocking fillers, last minute presents bought by people who have no idea who they're buying a gift for. To have a whole shop based around stocking fillers seems more than a little excessive. Don't shop here, not unless you're shopping for someone you don't know. There are so many better choices, all over Brighton... don't be drawn in by the crass window display. Shop elsewhere.
