If you're able to shell out and are interested in discussing philosophy outdoors as part of exploring modern life, I highly recommend this experience.
I was traveling to Sedona on a last minute trip and was able to secure a very short notice hiking reservation with Andrea. The communication was seamless and I appreciated being able to get in touch via text and the opportunity to be able to secure the experience.
At first I didn't realize a private 2.5-hour hiking session cost $220, and requested to cancel it after booking it. I thought about it more and decided to proceed. I felt that this sort of experience is one which would be meaningful to me.
If you have burning philosophical questions and want a captive audience with whom to discuss or you're struggling with life conundrums, this is for you. You will get an absolutely knowledgeable, personable, educated and friendly individual with whom to have a chat outdoors in the beautiful AZ landscapes.
You'll have an opportunity to talk about the big questions in life like the meaning of life, defining a meaningful existence, death, happiness, and any other large, philosophical and big picture questions. This is not intended to be a therapy session.
I think anytime you're paying for someone to talk with it immediately destroys any kind of genuine friendship because it means that the community is only accessible to those who can overcome the barrier to entry. Don't get confused - you are exchanging money to discuss philosophy while outdoors in a public setting. It's a business that's intended to feel like a very personal discussion.
I thoroughly enjoyed the unique experience, but I cannot quite seem to shake how pricey it was. I feel this should be offered at a much more reasonable cost given there is very little overhead for the location. Philosophy and nature is for everyone, and I couldn't imagine participating in this on a regular basis due to how cost prohibitive it is.
On one hand it's a very interesting and differentiated experience. On the other, nature is free and there's other hiking tour companies or other ways to spend on a toured experience for a fraction of the cost for same duration or longer, but not specifically spent discussing philosophy.
Thanks for a great discussion! read more
