We hired Dustin (owner) to clean our dryer vents. After he left I noticed he damaged our wall directly behind our dryer and a chunk of plaster was taken out of the wall with scratch marks and plaster on the baseboards below. Our single family home is nearly brand new and has absolutely no damage to any walls. Accidents happen and I realize this so I sent a polite email with pictures to Dustin. Dustin replied to my email admitting he may have caused the damage. The next day I received a telephone call from his partner Tara (office manager) beginning the call in a sarcastic tone, "I'm calling about the tiny scratch on your wall you emailed about". The call was on speakerphone and my friend also witnessed Tara speaking to me with disrespect and arguing with me that their company has never had complaints before. She offered to come fix the "scratch" as she mentioned with builders paint and I mentioned we did not have paint and a chip would need to be taken to a paint store and the "hole - not scratch" filled and sanded prior. She argued further with me which upset me and stated I would like to speak with Dustin and would call back. She hung up on me and I called back to inform that if she continued to treat me like this I would file a complaint, she hung up again. I sent 2 more emails addressed to Dustin which have gone unanswered. When I was unable to reach anyone, I resorted to sending a kind, professional Facebook message requesting to speak to Dustin and it was erased on their page. I am truly in shock with the unprofessionalism of this company. Regardless, I paid $420 for this service and had to go buy paint and spend our time correcting their damage to our property. After a few weeks of receiving not response to discuss further I had no choice other than file a BBB complaint. I received an email from the company asking me to review their service on google so I gave them a 1 star which is at this point very warranted for the damage and dodging their responsibility to correct their mistake. When receiving BBB's response the company gave me an ultimatum that they would pay for the damage if I removed my review. I don't want this happen to another customer so if you use this company I would suggest being present for the service or take before and after pictures of your walls etc.

In early Dec. 2025 I made a requested an estimate and servicing to BCVAC for air duct cleaning,…read moreservice of tankless hot water system, furnace and fireplace. Service was made next day however, to my surprise, it was a contracted provider (Midland Mechanical) who spent a total of 95 minutes (8:45 am - 10:20 am) completing all the work. Air duct cleaning was questionable. Most registers were not removed; no brush was used to loosen dirt in the vents and only a tiny nozzle was used to remove/suction external dust. I had questioned BCVAC regarding the use of a portable vacuum and was confident that large suction tubing was not required for a home however, in my research, it is clear that the air duct service was less than adequate. Most of MM's time was spent with the fireplace for my non-functioning remote. An initial quote of $348 by BCVAC turned out to be a cost of $867.55 to MM. MM insisted that the charge for tankless water heater was extra (later confirmed as an oversight and rectified by BCVAC). MM replaced fireplace remote (charging an added $393 including labor) and I had to provide the batteries as he didn't have any!! I disputed the charge for labor and cost of the remote but he was insistent. I later discovered that he had replaced the fireplace remote with a broken one. This, I believe, was intentional, as he demonstrated to me that he taped in the batteries telling me it was to prevent them from slipping out of place. There was no packaging indicating the remote was new. 2 days later, the first time I used it, the remote didn't work. Upon investigation we discovered that the battery latch locks were broken. I immediately cancelled the cheque, notified BCVAC and called to have the remote (batteries included!) removed by MM. I believe that BCVAC should have assumed the role of notifying MM however, it became clear at this point, that BCVAC functions only as a mediary and assumes no responsibility for the sub-contracted work. MM was angry that I hadn't given him an opportunity to replace the remote but it was clear that he intentionally charged me for broken equipment. I wanted nothing more to do with MM. Curiously, following his visit to disconnect and remove the remote, the fireplace pilot wouldn't maintain a flame. I then contacted Heritage Mountain H & C (a very reliable company) who spent nearly 1.5 hrs. at a cost of $396.38 to install a remote that I had purchased online. He determined that the safety circuit had been removed and wiring to the thermal couple port was not connected. (How did this happen??) He also cleaned the burner area, fixed the log placement and also issued a detailed invoice. In my opinion, had the fireplace been properly serviced by MM, the burner area would not need to be cleaned nor would the logs be out of place. Jesse from BCVAC was very cordial, honoured the quote for tankless water heater and issued a $50 gift certificate for future use but this experience will not encourage me to use BCVAC again.

He seemed great and he gave what I thought was a fair quote. We were moving a basement suite and had 40-50 boxes and few other large items (dresser, wardrobe etc.) They showed up early, seemed courteous and professional. Assessed the situation and said that everything looked good. We had everything in boxes, labelled and organized. They said 2 hours to get it out at the most. Then things went downhill...fast. The two workers started arguing that about whether they should bring another guy to help. The one said they shouldn't but eventually they asked me if they should. I let them know it was fine because I like to trust people to do a good job. They said it wouldn't be more expensive because although I have to pay for each person, they would be more efficient. Reasonable. Noon rolls around and they're still not packed. Remember they said 2 hours tops then brought in another guy to help. So, it should be way under 2 hours, but we are at 4+. I started to notice that the new guy they brought has been on his phone most of the time. Seems like he's putting out fires things for Low Budget Moving. Fair enough, but not really something I want to pay for. The other guys don't really seem to be moving boxes and working hard when I see them in my suite, but when I go up, then their just chatting and doing nothing. I think this was the chief the reason that 2 hours for 2 people became 5 hours for 3 people. That is on the cost side of things, but that's not all. When they showed up they said they would insure only solid wood furniture to be moved without damage. They didn't want to insure cheap IKEA furniture or already packed boxes. That seems fair to me. They broke 2 solid wood pieces of furniture. Replaced none and offered no compensation. One table they admitted to breaking. They just fell on it and broke it. Admitted it and did nothing. The China cabinet they refused to admit they broke but kind of in the same way that a child with chocolate on their face rufuses to admin they are responsible for the missing chocolate. They took some parts of the cabinet and said they'd look into replacing it, but then ghosted me. Lastly, they just sucked at moving. I have a hundred stories from the day but the one that illustrates it best is this. We asked them to move a wardrobe into a corner that they had placed in the middle of the room. It need to be moved about 2 meters. They were struggling to move it, crawling around on their knees, pushing it then putting it down, then and trying to figure out how to move it. Eventually after my wife and watching for a while, we just moved it. It took about 15 seconds for us (minus the few minutes of watching them struggle to do their job). We aren't strong, just healthy 30-year-olds who aren't getting paid by the hour. All in all they were just not competent at the basic task, did not actually work, and broke or damaged a lot of items. Try someone else. Literally any one.
