Inside, the venue was very spacious, with high ceilings, large doors, and artwork throughout with tasteful lighting and a consistent style throughout the venue. The private rooms, with their artwork and lighting, provided a peaceful setting for small groups to gather and share memories, fostering a sense of reflection. Even though the attendance exceeded the expected 75 people, the venue handled the larger crowd well the reception area was huge, with space for many to sit and enjoy the food. The foyer area became somewhat crowded at times due to the locations of the reception and service areas, causing a slight bottleneck. Even with the large crowd the venue had a feeling of stillness and quiet, offering areas for both communal gathering and private reflection. The restrooms were fully stocked with amenities like napkins, towels, and mouthwash. Parking was adequate, even with the overflow crowd. The staff provided excellent service. The doorman was attentive, and staff were readily available to assist guests. Really well done and proper service for an excellent young man.

They introduced me to a company I never knew existed. Honestly, In my 16+ years in Sugar Land, I must have driven past this building a thousand times. I never knew it was there. This was the first thing that struck me. It is a beautiful space, discreetly tucked between other Sugar Land Professional buildings, and, it is as elegant and inviting as the professionals who work there. Errol Demasiliere guided us through the entire (daunting) process, and worked directly with our Church to ensure our comfort and together they made sure that every detail was met. The people at Settegast-Kopf are among the most empathic, kind, brave, and professional people I've had the privilege to meet. They went beyond their roles to ensure my family, our friends, and I were as comfortable as we could possibly be in this horrible time. They do everything in their power to ensure your comfort. They want to know you, and your loved one and will create the most beautiful and personal experience to honor your loved one. They will meet and exceed your expectations, as they certainly did mine. You will feel you are among trusted friends. A dear family's tragedy took us to Settegast- Kopf ,Sugar Land again today. As a guest this time, I was afforded a different perspective than when it was my own tragedy. I was not surprised to see that excellence IS a standard at Settegast Kopf, and they are more than capable of attaining it. The service today was a personal and beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul. I thought I wrote and posted this review a year ago. Had I not revisited Settegast Kopf Sugar Land today, I wouldn't have realized this was in my drafts folder! I'm glad I found out and was able to post it now. I hope you find it helpful.

The last funeral service was last month for my father who had passed away suddenly. I didn't play much of a part in preparing/planning my mom's funeral so I can't comment on that so I'll focus on the latest one. The funeral home was promptly contacted and we made an appointment to meet up (not until 5 days later because they were booked until then) and we met with Cer who was professional and very responsive. In fact, everyone there was very accommodating. My father had made plans for this ahead of time so we only had to make more minor decisions within the "package" he had paid for. That was really a pleasant surprise because it is a lot all at once - especially when no one expected it to happen. The place is a more practical building though the inside is clearly Asian influenced. I quickly realized most of the people that go through here are Asian. Everyone at the receptionist's desk is approachable and helpful. They also won't kick you out (we accidentally lingered a little longer than our allowed time for the first day and they just waited for us). They offer all sorts of services from Buddhist to Church ones and will accommodate as best as they can to personal requests. We only met Cer that once but she was super responsive via email thereafter. Our visits after that first time, she was busy... somewhere. We opted for Friday-Saturday service dates and she wasn't available those dates but it still went smoothly thanks to everyone involved. They have two large rooms where you can have your service in. Both have a kitchen. One room is a little bigger than the other. They seem pretty clean with plenty of seats. They were also very helpful when we asked to see our Dad so we went a separate time for a private viewing in the back. Again, no rush. Be prepared for some time to pass between each step. They are busy and when we finally scheduled the actual service dates, they ended up being just over 2 weeks out because that was the earliest available. Overall, as good as it could be all things considered. Very helpful and prompt without being overbearing or pushy. They don't try to sell you MORE which is great. (I do recommend getting a "package" for the ones you leave behind if feasible because that was extremely helpful.... The entire process could have been a lot more challenging and time consuming without it.)

And that is exactly what Claire Brothers Funeral Home did for our family. They beautifully executed my father's homegoing ceremony. They allowed my dad's last "hoorah" to be an accurate depiction of who my father was. And for that, I am deeply grateful that we decided to have our funeral service at Claire Brothers. From the service logistics/arrangement, to the printing of the fliers (going beyond what was expected), to the slideshow, and to the selection of the pianist and psalmist, we were just greatly pleased. I would definitely recommend them to others who are seeking a professional funeral service that allows, yet magnifies the feel of warm intimacy.

    Beresford Funeral Service

TLDR: Beresford gave us EXACTLY what we wanted and needed, with a compassionate and competent…read moremanner. 100% satisfied with our experience! There aren't a lot of reviews about local funeral service providers compared to restaurants, dry cleaners, etc. so we wanted to leave one in the hopes it will help others who find themselves having to figure this out on the fly. We're not detailing our exact line items or costs because everyone's wants will differ and we'd hate to cite a cost that may change over time. We had an elderly family member pass, and several of us were deputized to support the surviving spouse during the search for a funeral service provider. A nearby home that they had driven by for years and just assumed they'd use when the time came had gone out of business during COVID so we were starting from scratch. One of us got a recommendation for Beresford from a friend and another of us found them online at the same time. Since most of us are digital natives, we wanted information online which a number of places do not provide (it's the year 2022!!) but Beresford does. It was such a nice change from the super annoying phone calls to competitors to ask about pricing and beat off the repeated requests for everyone's personal identity information - they don't need all those details at that point. At the end, the spouse wanted to make an in-person visit somewhere so after reading through Beresford's website, we made an appointment and off we went. It's a family-owned business and since we have generations of small business owners in ours, shopping local is important to us. We met with the founder's (Chip - he has a very impressive story!) son William, who was straight out of Hollywood typecasting: calm, considerate, capable. William explained the whole process from a general perspective and then specified what Beresford stands for (value and transparency) and what they offer for each element of the funeral process. There was no upselling and no emotional leveraging (i.e. "wouldn't your loved one want this?" or "what will the rest of the family think?"). It was all very straightforward and there was no pressure to decide anything that day. We have a data nerd among us who calculated the mileage of the transportation from the hospital to the home to the final location and asked about the eight mile excess over the complimentary transportation limit. William simply folded his hands and kindly said, "We're not worried about eight miles. You won't be charged." That pretty much summed up the whole experience - they weren't worried about charging for anything more than the requested services and everything turned out exactly as promised. To be honest, since we were all so inexperienced with the funeral process we wouldn't have been surprised to be contacted after signing the agreement and be told that there were additional charges or that something couldn't be done but it couldn't have been a smoother or more reassuring experience. We're grateful there are people like the Beresford family to take care of those of us when we're feeling our way forward in the dark. Thank you, William, for supporting us. Thank you, Chip, for coming up with this idea of how to serve people.
