Another lovely weekend at the ranch! I've been coming here for years but this was our first visit…read moresince the new owners took over. We bring our own horses and it was nice to see improvements made to the horse pens such as closer water access, stone dust, and more corrals! Check-in went smoothly and staff were very accommodating and helpful. Elk cabin was cozy, clean, and well stocked with necessities. The ranch horses being used for guided rides appeared to be well cared for. Overall this is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. We can't wait to come back!

The repeated questioning felt excessive and honestly left me wondering whether assumptions were being made about me before I even arrived. As a Hispanic customer, I can guarantee once my name was revealed, suddenly I didn't know my own weight?? Being asked to reconfirm as if I was expected to be pearl the whale. Furthermore, I almost died and they HARASSED ME!! I was in a hospital bed, calls after calls leading to the below messages. From an unknown number not registered to the business. Super unprofessional, will never consider this place EVER AGAIN. Gitty yo ass up out the way while you can.

I would not use this stable again…read more Cons: It appears there are too many horses on the property in that the pastures are over grazed and full of weeds. The round bale quality is poor. They place the round bales same place year after. This causesmold and muck to build up around the feeders. Horses here receive inconsistent care, it appeared that it depended on whom what's feeding. There were days where it seemed the horse was rode without permission, saddle marks and perspiration when the horse hadn't been ridden by the owners for months. If you board here be prepared for everything you own be covered in dust. The big barn attached to the indoor is hardly watered and the aisle-ways are loose dirt. Pros: Plenty of trails. The other boarders are generally nice and welcoming. The town of Luray is nice quiet town to visit with a couple of good restaurants and breweries.

Our eight year old had an amazing experience taking a riding lesson from Jade at White Oak Stables…read more She was absolutely thrilled that she learned about caring for horses, that she was able to put the tack on herself (with Jade's assistance), and with how much fun she had riding. She learned more in this one hour lesson than she has learned with several rides at other stables. She enthusiastically declared that this was the most fun she has even had around horses and that the next time she gets to ride she "definitely" wants it to be here. Jade, thank you for making her day and I hope we will see you again soon!

We used the strap that came with the cooler tube to strap my youngest child's tube to another one. One employee told us we could purchase another strap to tether them together but then the employee in the shop kind of scoffed and said it wouldn't necessary. It was definitely necessary! We had to paddle after all the kids cause their arms and legs are too short to even reach the water and paddle themselves. The employees really didn't do a whole lot of customer service so I'm not really sure the tip (which was paid in advance) was worth it. We even had to carry all our tubes all the way back up the hill after we finished. The river itself is mostly calm and it is a beautiful area. But there was quite a bit of algae/scum in the slower moving water which grossed out the kids lol. And the island where we stopped to each lunch had some trash on it. Overall tubing was a good experience but the $200+ price felt like a lot for what it was.

I don't know, I see what I assume to be the same guy mentioned in several other reviews) was *incredibly* rude. I can't understand this; I own a business and if I ever spoke to a client like that, they would never hire me again. So I guess he doesn't count on repeat business? The guy driving the shuttle was nice enough but I also don't understand this whole tip jar thing for boating companies. All the guys do is drive us a few minutes down the road and unload gear. Is that not their literal job? Why isn't the company paying them a living wage? I'd definitely scope out other places given the customer service at this place

We loved coming here when our children were young, but in the past few trips, we have been spoiled…read moreby state parks and not just with price, but amenities/hookups offered and level sites as well. We were very surprised that so many of the sites are not level and the one we had been assigned had our new camper when we were trying to attempt to get it level started moving down the hill. (note-stay out of any site with 80 in it) Not something you want to happen to 35k of your hard earned cash! We did change sites, which came with a cost. The sites though are CRAZY in price! We get a senior discount with many places we go.....this is not one of them. We selected another site that looked fairly level, but if we ever have to do this again, we will be thinking about if the playground is nearby. While we love kids and have 3 of our own and two grandkids, when the pool closes, the play area is LOUD! Won't make that mistake again. This AM, we took the camp map out and circled acceptable sites for the next trip. The only problem with this is you are charged if you want to make sure you get the site you pick. I really take issue with that. It should not cost you a thing....this is souring me altogether from commercial parks. Pluses....they have great pools, nice inside areas and so forth. Cabanas and golf cart rentals are nice, but a tad high. I feel sites are tight for the $$$$'s. There are some cool places to go in the area to include Luray Caverns, wineries and distilleries. Deluxe tent sites are nice and there are activities. Minuses....I wish that they would build roofs over the picnic tables in all their sites, not just the tent areas. Prices, well I can stay in a hotel for $135 a night.....don't add in the nickle and dime stuff. Many of the sites are just not great....we talked to a gentleman with a diesel pusher and he said he was unhappy as well. At the price, you really do expect a little better. Make sure to join Yogi rewards before coming. At least you can add and get a free night here or there if you stay at other Yogis. It's nice, but very pricey. Unless we have our grandsons, I don't see us staying again.
