They always have a range of goods so you need to drop by. The prices are good and they keep everything organized and clean.

Stopped in to look around and walked out with some very nice deals. Everything that we saw was very reasonably priced.

But I donate them here hoping to give them to someone who will get some use out of them and provide the jobs that the store provides. That said, it is a cr*ppy operation. With a sign that clearly states donations accepted until 6:30 p.m. but when you walk in you're told they stopped accepting at 5:30 because their hours are different. The sign out front still says 6:30 and they would not take my two boxes. So I will not be donating there anymore. I'll go down the street to Goodwill

When I called the customer service to try to get a time of the pickup, the representative had an attitude. When I suggested a courtesy call so people don't have to sit around all day waiting, she replied "We're doing a free pickup. It is your responsibility to call us to get a time." I replied the items you are getting are free to you in which you sell and make money. She replied Yes but we don't call. Some people wouldn't respond when we called in the past so we don't call. I recommended automated calls and she again said we don't do that. I have donated to your organization many times and after this, I will not do so anymore. It is obvious that Salvation Army does not appreciate the people who donate and their employees are rude.

Hello! I am the first person to review St. Charles Salvation Army. I set up their account just to…read morereview them. I also want to point out that we will call their Corporatate HR office because the way we were treated in that store was HORRIBLE and one of the worst ways I was treated in any store. We have been shopping at the Montgomery/Aurora Location for 20 years. We are vendors and we buy clothing and shoes all the time. St. Charles have just opened late 2015. We were so excited because we finally have another Salvation Army to shop to! I LOVE my Montgomery location and everyone there we know personally because we talk to them all the time! St. Charles was the same way! The "first" round of employees we loved them so much! First day we went and talked to all of them and got to know them! Now we do this not only because we are friendly, but because we buy so much stuff and shop every week we let them know why and what we are about! Now St. Charles just opened in October...and somehow I have never seen so many people LEFT that location so fast and replaced by...well JERKS! That first round of people left by December. It was replaced by a very rude woman...but she left in less then a month. Then management was replaced by another woman which was fine and we were shopping and buying many things every week. YESTURDAY - February 20, 2016 -- We went to shop for our usual stuff. We saw a new woman. Let me describe her. We didnt approach or talk to her right away because we wanted to see who is this first. This woman is white, around 28-30. Dark Black or Brown hair and over weight. In Salvation Army, one mostly wears a red polo or shirt as a uniform. Nope, she had a tank top on with her breast hanging out. We were in the store shopping and we can hear her loudly talking on her phone yelling at her boyfriend and talking about personal business. Since we buy a lot we always ask for a deal. We always get some sort of deal too because we buy a lot of stuff. We already knew it was going to be bad when there were two bikes. One was 5.00 and one was 6.00. We asked her if we can buy both bikes for 5.00 She was SO RUDE and yelled as us and said WE ARE NOT GOODWILL! NO! Okay...now its going to get bad. The bike thing, we rubbed that off. We bought 2 shopping carts of shoes. We placed the shoes on the belt with this woman as a cashier. She grabbed our shoes and lazily and hard and threw them into the bag with no care at all. We are NOT picky but her body language showed she didn't want to sell to us. We asked her to please not throw our shoes. She didn't respond or listen and we asked her again and she was so angry! This heiffer went crazy in a second! She said, "I AM NOT THROWING YOUR SHOES! YOU KNOW WHAT! I AM NOT GOING TO SELL YOU AGAIN! YOU ARE THROWING THE SHOES AT ME!" We said we are only putting the shoes on the belt. She said, "IF YOU DON'T LEAVE ME STORE RIGHT NOW I AM CALLING THE COPS! GET THE F**K OUT OF MY STORE NOW!" She threw everything back into the car and pulled the two carts away and angrily pretend to put those shoes back on the shelf. We just stood there in Awe. In all the years we been shopping at Salvation Army (and we have visited every location in the Chicago Land Area) something is wrong with this St. Charles one. The shelves are empty, most employees are very lazy, the first round of employees who we liked left, and I don't know who this new person is or who made her into a manager but she is very trashy and very rude. For a store that is a religious charity the way she acted towards us was very unprofessional and un christian like.

Used to put then in bags in the alley for whoever wants and needs to take but oftentimes I find them all messed up, thrown on the ground which defeats my purpose. So off to the donation box it all goes. Wish there were more of the boxes around town. I'd rather drop it off at the box then drive to the Goodwill. Everyone complaining of it being sold etc it's the same thing the Goodwill.and Salvation Army does. But at least I don't have to drive far or wait in line when I'm in a time crunch in a busy week, and don't want to haul bags of stuff in my car for weeks until I am able to go to a Goodwill and don't have the time to list on ebay or marketplace but need closet space at the same time. I think what Gaia is doing is very good. At the end, someone does use the clothes, and they're not thrown around in the alley on the ground where nobody will want them. I could care less for a tax deduction because I'd always forget the slip when tax time comes and plus it don't make much difference anyway. Tried donating to shelters before only to learn that those who work there scavenger the donation and keep what they like/what's newer for themselves instead of giving everything to those at the shelter. If you want to give directly to the homeless then give it to them on the spot. But it's also hard to figure out if the pants size will fit them etc. So when I'm in a time crunch and need to clean out fast, don't want to haul bags of clothes waiting to go to Goodwill and making myself seem like I live in my car with random bags of clothes waiting to be donated, I just drop it off at the Gaia donation box. It's also helpful with the website that gives location of the boxes so if I'm traveling O can easily look up the nearest box. Honestly, think that everyone complaining about the concept of these donation boxes works for Goodwill or Salvation because then they don't get direct donations to sell at the store. Gaia boxes are convenient too being available 24/7 specially when working an odd schedule I can never make it to a Goodwill to drop off. At the end of the day, someone still makes use of the clothes, they don't end up in a landfill and maybe if I don't want to donate such clothes then I'll just not buy anything until my current wardrobe wears out. I don't make a penny from donating to Goodwill either, only the buyer gets to have new clothes, some brand new at a cheap price. But I don't have time for that so I just drop off at Gaia box. I also.like the little projects they have going on, fun stuff, and everything they do on local level at the warehouse to everything being done abroad in the developing countries, environmentally. Keep it up!
