I filled out an application and got a follow-up email from Marybell right away, which I appreciated. She couldn't make the time she originally asked for a call so we found a new time that worked for us. When I shared her fees were too high so this isn't what we were looking for, she asked for the other nanny service places I had spoken with. She pointed out a specific company and was telling me they cost more, which is not what they offered me. She quickly got combative and then said yeah, daycare is the best route for you after I generally mentioned what we were looking into with no specific details. I found her unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend a company that treats potential clients this way. read more

Five years after having our first, Marybell did it again! Childcare seems to be in very high demand right now, but Marybell provided us with multiple qualified candidates to care for our newborn. She guided us through the Covid-era nanny interviewing process, and we were able to hire a nanny with great references who is SO nurturing, proactive, and reliable. Marybell is patient, responsive, and really cares about finding a good match between nanny and family. Marybell takes the stress out of locating a fantastic nanny, which is one less thing to worry about before returning to work. Absolutely worth the investment. read more

BEWARE!!!! I worked with this agency in 2015 and found the worst family of my nannying experience! Since Marybell was a nanny, I assumed that she would have a nanny's best interests in mind as well as her client families, but I was very wrong. I'm used to an agency filters the family a bit but shortly after I started in the position, I found out that Marybell had only communicated with the mother via email and had never met nor spoken with them. read more

We were very happy with the attention to our particular wants and situation that Second City Nannies provided us. They were able to quickly identify candidates who met our criteria, set up interviews, and arrange play dates with the candidates and our children. We are grateful for their help. read more

Marybell is nothing short of amazing. My sisters job was transferred to Chicago and she asked me if I knew anyone who was a nanny. I happen to have a client who knows Marybell and gave me her contact info. Since it would be a few weeks before my sister and her family would be here, she asked me if I could speak with Marybell prior to them arriving. I contacted her via the website and she returned my email the same day. She explained to me that there is a parent application that my sister could get off of the website and fill out and return. I went ahead and set up an in person with Marybell so I could talk with her in more detail in regards to what my sister and nieces would be needing. Marybell was very professional, kind and knowledgable. She was able to find a perfect match for my sister and her family. The kids absolutely love their nanny and my sister couldn't be happier. read more

Second City Nannies is an amazing agency. I really appreciate how they care and I'm thrilled with my new nanny position. The placement coordinator (Marybell and Christine) took the time to help me and the patience to walk me step by step and they worked hard to place me with the best possible match. They treated me like a valued professional and I was matched with a family that appreciates me and shows it. I highly recommend their service, it's the best you can find it! read more

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate Second City Nannies. My husband and I went through an unlucky, and frankly, bad experience finding a nanny on our own, and were in a tight spot to get a replacement as soon as possible. Marybell swooped in and really helped us out. She was kind and patient and listened to all of our needs. She only sent us applicants that fit the criteria we were looking for, and she found us an amazing nanny who takes excellent care of our son. I was, as any new mom is, scared to leave my little guy in the care of someone else. Then add the first bad nanny experience on top of that and I was a mess. I could not have found our nanny without Marybell's help. Now I am confident and secure that I am leaving my son in the best care possible when I go to work. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for childcare. She does everything from date night sitters to full time nannies. I cannot recommend her enough! Thank you Marybell! read more

Had a terrible experience with Marybell. I have been a nanny for 8+ years & career nanny for 5. Let me start by saying, nannies in general have a hard time working with agencies compared to searching for jobs themselves and being successful. I was given the word to be cautious working with them beforehand by a few nannies. So I was really hoping to break that stigma and love my experience although it did not turn out that way. Marybell and I had spoken about a possible meeting time in which she promoted and I was available. I had responded to her to say this, with no response or confirmation back on that day and time. Even a simple "Great, lets go ahead with this date and I look forward to meeting with you.", would have been suffice. But with no response, I was unsure if we were still meeting or if she had even received my email, so I did not attend and she did. Now, yes.. I could have reached out again to see if the date and time still worked for her (although I don't believe I should have had to), but she also could have simply confirmed. She went on to email me to call me rude which was EXTREMELY unprofessional and not at all how you handle a situation like that as a business owner. I have worked in customer service before and would never. I pride myself on being a reliable and professional individual. So much so that in my last position which I was at for 3 years; I never called off once or used any of my sick or vacation days until being there for one whole year. Anyhow, I was still professional in my response to her and explained myself hoping for a little bit of understanding. Again with no luck and NO response. I only hope that going forward, this will be a learning experience on both ends. But I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. With this being one of those unfortunate cases that you don't understand at first but it all makes sense in the end because I would never want to work for or with someone as unprofessional as Marybell was. Her actions said more than enough about her true character. I am still not giving up hope on working with other agencies but will make sure if asked, that other nannies proceed with caution when it comes to second city. read more

My experience with Second City Nannies couldn't have been better. It was evident from our first phone call that Marybell takes great pride in her work and is totally hands-on when it comes to running her business. As a former nanny herself and a mom, she just gets it. She took the time to listen and understand our family's needs and, in just a few weeks, found a wonderful nanny for us. She made the process easier than I ever thought it could be, and I'm so grateful to her! read more

I can't say enough good things about Marybell and Second City Nannies. As our nanny, she took excellent care of our daughter - suggesting new toys, foods, and experiences that she thought our little one would benefit from, trying new things, and keeping us updated on changes with eating/moods. She provided reliable, thoughtful and diligent care of an active baby. This diligence and thoughtfulness was mirrored when circumstances changed and we needed a new nanny. Marybell gave us multiple candidates, discussed pros and cons with us ahead of time, and really helped us to find the right person for us and our daughter. When we had an emergency situation, she even helped us find someone to fill in temporarily. She was professional, thorough and incredibly helpful. read more

Had a terrible experience with a nanny placed through this agency and found out she left a bad review here. She was a bully and firing her was a nightmare. read more

I called many nanny services and my requests for a part time nanny ( with very unique hour requirements) was met with "we can't help you with that" I even looked into other online baby sitting services such as sitter city and was also discouraged with the amount of time I was putting into finding a nanny with no results. Then I called Marybell and she had a "can do" attitude and did not dismiss my request for a part time, flexible hours for two school aged children. She provided two resumes within 48hrs and I hired the BEST nanny for my girls. I am going through a divorce and the nanny is such a sweet, stable and helpful addition to our lives as we go through these changes. I would recommend Marybell and second city nannies to ANYONE looking for care. read more

Marybell is a superwoman running a truly great business. She does everything - from the interviews to the paperwork to the website. I began my job search by contacting several agencies and Second City Nannies was the only agency that responded the same day. Marybell immediately set up a time to meet with me, and within a few days I started a full time position with a wonderful family. I cannot thank Marybell enough for her fast response time and devotion to the business. read more

Marybell is a brilliant and respectable individual. I had the pleasure of working occasionally for her and got to know her for the caring, patient, reliable and profesional hard working woman that she is. When it was my time to find a full time position, she found my ideal employment families. I am happily working with two families in a nanny share and I couldn't have found this wonderful position without Marybell's help! read more

I found a wonderful nanny thanks to Marybell! I tried to find a nanny on my own it wasn't working out (almost everyone we interviewed showed up late) and I was in a bind b/c we needed to find a part time nanny within a few weeks and Marybell made it happen. I had pretty high standards and we feel so lucky that we now have a responsible, experienced & trustworthy nanny to take care of our 4 month old. I feel at ease leaving my child with our nanny and that feeling is worth every penny the agency charges. Highly recommend using Second City Nannies. Marybell really listens to what your family needs and also has great and honest advice. read more

Marybell at Second City Nannies is awesome. We were at first apprehensive about hiring a nanny agency when there were so many ways to do it online ourselves, but very happy we did. Well worth the cost. She worked with us until we found someone who is perfect for our kiddo. A+ & would use again. read more

Marybell contacted me about a family that needed a nanny at the perfect time. I had not been having any luck finding a family to work for and was seriously about to give up when she came along. I had been working with another agency but there is something about Marybell that restored hope, as cheesy as that may sound, that this other agency lacked. She really acted as an advocate for me and if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be starting work with the first family she got me in contact with this Thursday. I strongly recommend getting in contact with her if you are a family looking for a nanny or a nanny looking for a family. Whatever the case, she will find a way to ensure a successful end result for all involved! read more

Marybell is fantastic! I have worked with multiple nanny agencies over the years and this one is by far one of the best. Marybell is organized, responsive and most important she listens to your needs. She doesn't send you random candidates she sends true fits. She was a nanny herself so she is a fantastic guide for first time mothers but also for anyone who has any questions. She will put your mind at ease and I found her based on reviews... all fantastic. You will not be disappointed if you go with her!!!! She will find you the right nanny! read more

Was placed with the most beautiful family thanks to Marybell! Amazing attentive care was given to make sure I was a good fit for the family, and that the family was a right fit for me! As all reviews say; Marybell is a force of nature! read more

We used Second City to find our current nanny. Marybell was extremely responsive and presented several well-qualified candidates. Because she's a former nanny, Marybell brings a great perspective to the hiring process and really helped me think through what's important for my family. I would recommend Second City Nannies to anyone looking for a nanny! read more

Marybell is a life saver. Within hours, she sent us a fabulous recommendation to fit our needs. Brittany is warm, professional, energetic, and a pleasure to have in our home. I highly recommend Second City Nannies to families and nannies looking for their next homes. read more

Fantastic experience. Marybell put us as ease immediately. She placed us with an incredible nanny after one week. She continues to check in with both us and our nanny. We would use her service again and again. read more

Marybell has been invaluable in helping us navigate through the process of choosing a nanny for our first child. It's not an easy decision to make, and Marybell was incredibly supportive. She guided us through the process with patience, poise and professionalism, and ultimately helped us find the perfect fit. I think Marybell's background as both a nanny and preschool teacher makes her especially attuned to the needs of different families, and gives her an intuitive sense of what kind of nanny will fit best with each of the families she counsels and guides. I would highly recommend working with Marybell and Second City Nannies! read more

Second City Nannies to the rescue!! After having our regular nanny suffer an injury, the Second City Nanny team was able to find a wonderful, experienced, childcare professional, who was able to bridge the gap until our nanny is back on her feet. Second City Nannies was able to accomplish all of this within mere hours of contacting them and our temporary nanny was able to start a few days later. It was a comfort to know that all references were verified and background checks completed. Truly lifesaving! read more

We used Second City Nannies when I decided to go back to work after spending two years at home with our boys. We had a tight timeline and a very long list of "Nanny Must Haves". I contacted a few companies wanting to see who could offer us the best options. Marybell was amiable and open to our wants and needs. She sent us some great options to review on paper before we decided to meet anyone we were interested in. We met, re-met and set up mini playdates between the nannies and our kids. We deliberated, ho-hummed, went back and forth. We finally decided on our nanny, Jen, who came to us from Second City Nannies. She met all of our qualifications and came so highly recommended that we couldn't pass her up. Through all of this Marybell held our hand and gave us sound advice when needed. We are so fortunate to have used Second City Nannies in a nanny search and two months later we couldn't be happier. read more
