I am looking for a firearm for home protection. I grew up with all kinds of firearms but it has been many years since I even held one. I visited one gun store but the owner could spare any time for me because he was gossiping with his friends. I decided to give Second Amendment a try. I went there earlier this week. It's a small store but they have a lot pistols to choose from as well as some rifles and shotguns. They also can order any firearm you want as they are FFL. When I walked in I was immediately asked if I needed help. I told the person my situation snd he suggested taking a safety glad with one of the store's owners, Henry. Given the number of years between now and when I lady fired s weapon I though it was a good idea. I spend about 30 minutes on the store looking at pistols. The guys who work there are very friendly and eager to help. I made s date to come back for my safety class with Henry. My class with Henry was today. I didn't know what to expect although I knew he was going to have me on the range at some point. Buying a firearm is very serious business and I take it as such. Henry had a real easy going way about him. He is very knowledgeable and professional teaching the important aspects of owning and using a firearm. He had a friendly way about him which helps with such a serious subject. This guy knows his stuff! He spent an hour going over, in depth, using a semi auto pistol. I always though a shotgun was the way to go but Henry convinced me otherwise. Henry took me on the firing range and I shot pistols of different calibers. Henry watched me closely to ensure I remained safe while firing. The range is clean and organized. You can only use brass cartridges on the range. I liked my experience so much I am going to have my wife take a class with Henry. She hates all firearms but she agrees we need something for protection. I can see myself going back here often to use the range once I buy my pistol. I really like this place. It's got a good vibe. read more

I've shot here numerous times, and this is by far the best place to shoot locally around Jax. The range isn't as busy as the other ones around town. Knowledgeable staff, clean facilities, and air conditioned lines. They have a HVAC system, including state-of-the-art HEPA filtration, which makes shooting in the heat of summer or in the chill of winter a healthy and comfortable experience. They allow to bring your own pistols, rifles, targets, eyes, ears, and ammunition as long as they conform to the following rules... 1. Steel-core ammo prohibited 2. Shotguns prohibited (exceptions made for limited use while patterning) 3. Ammo travelling at a rate higher than 3600 feet per second prohibited 4. No paper plate targets allowed Their range consists of six shooting lanes 23 yards deep. They have automated target carriers and demarcation lines at 7, 10 and 15 yards. They also have a handful of weapons you can rent, as well as any safety gear you may need. They also offer different classes - CCW, ladies classes, and NRA courses. They also have a gunsmith if you need help with your gun. Which I've used before and he's a great guy! The reason I didn't give them 5 stars yet is because it is somewhat of a small facility. I know they have been thinking of expanding their range, and would really like to see that happen as well as allowing shotguns on the range. When they do that I'll bump it to 5. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Horrible place. The range is so small, if all lanes are full people don't even fit in there, packed like a can of sardines, no room to put your stuff, barely any room for anything else. Besides it being small, it stunk in there, it was dirty, looked like it had not been cleaned in months. The two jerkoffs at the front talk big, they don't even know what they are doing. Their inventory sucks, hardly anything interesting to choose from. Don't waste your time here. Go somewhere else. read more

Went in Saturday to shoot with my Dad and was pleasantly surprised. I had been in a couple times before and either the range was closed for repair or the staff was terrible. Not Saturday. The staff was very pleasant and friendly and the range was in full working order. Glad to see it turned around since they are the only game in town. read more

First time there with husband, nice folks...But my husband got hit on the hand by bullet that bounced back, bleeding one of the clerks helped bandage up his had up. He might need stitch on his knuckel? Owner never said he was "sorry" just said he knew there were problems and that was that! Dangerous place DO NOT SHOOT THERE. Range is small (especially for rifles) but the staff is as good as it gets. They are friendly as well as being extremely knowledgeable. Prices are a bit high - but competitive if you negotiate with them. FFL transfer fees are very reasonable. read more

New to the gun range scene. Did seem a bit small upon my initial visit but after a few visits I got used to it. I have been there 3-4 times and each time has been hassle free. The people that I have bumped into on the range seem to be there for the same reason that I am - to expend some rounds and unwind a bit. The facility is easy in and out without any hassles. Wouldnt really respond to questions and took to standing behind the counter looking at us like we weren't supposed to be there. Will never ever ever return to this store ever. I went with my husband, and our three friends to this range. We went in and needed eye and ear protection. This was my husband and I's first time at a gun range. We were under the assumption our bill was going to be $3. Two sets of ear muff rentals and one pair of safety glasses, the man told us we could pay after, when we started pulling money out. Our bill was not $3. It was $28. For two people with two sets of ear rentals and one eye rental. I am pissed. There were no signs posted and the man was NOT up front about the cost of using the range. He was aware that three of the people out of the five had never been there before. Beware how costly this range is. Maybe it's common knowledge to most gun people that ranges are expensive but this was not common knowledge to me or my husband and I feel like the employees intentionally did not disclose the cost because I talked to my father in law about it afterwards and he said he paid before he went into the shooting range... THEY RIPPED ME OFF... I purchased a gift certificate over the phone with a credit card for $100. When I went to get it, they said they had no record of the transaction. Well I produced my bank statement record of it and still no service. I had spent more than $100 in there easily up to this point and probably would have spent much more. Just lame. read more

This has become my range of choice. They have a friendly staff and a great selection of rental firearms. Selection can be limited, being a smaller store. I also had to return a backpack that had a problem with the stitching . They took it back, refunded my money, and called me when a replacement arrived.
