Ah the gay beach. The place where I can wear as little as I want to and frolic in the sand. Picture it: Kelis blasting from my iPhone. My speedo rocking as I lay my Little Mermaid towel on the beautiful white sand of the beach. "Milkshake" is bumping from my speakers while I rub lotion on my soon to be sun-kissed skin. "I could teach you, but I'd have to charge." Now that this image is stuck in your head... I love this beach. The water is clear, the sand is clean (gay's take care of things) and typically is not that busy. Best time: mornings- gay's party too late and don't typically hit the beach at 9am so go then. Parking is easy to find around the area. Beach Place is it far in case you need a water while you sun tan or just bring your own drinks. The beach goers are friendly so you'll probably make a friend or two. It's typically the only beach I go to. You will see all types of bodies there: muscle guys, beefy guys, skinny guys, and guys like me with bodies that look like road kill. So you have options in terms of eye candy. Lay back, get a tan and enjoy.

Beautiful ....water very warm and clean ...

Nice beach with the playground for the kids if you want. Handicap access to the playground as well. This is the kid zone and thus the beach tends to attract more families with children. No furry (dogs) kids allowed.

Very nice and clean beach. Extremely popular and directly across the street from the Ritz Carlton. The water is gorgeous and they tend to keep the beach nice and tidy, which was a pleasant surprise.

My husband and I are honeymooning in Ft Lauderdale. We were told about this beach at the resort. At first I was a bit hesitant cause 1. "Gay" anything usually means a 16-year old mean girls mentality 2. We want equality so us being a gay couple should be a non issue anywhere right? So Sebastian Beach is nice. Full of mostly older gay men and a few younger guys. We're in our mid thirties and there were only a handful of people younger then us. It doesn't feel like a meat market and people pretty much keep to themselves. If you're looking to Cruz this isn't the spot. If you want a relaxing time at the beach this is! Just look for the umbrellas and speedos! Btw if you want to rent a chair or umbrella. The chairs are $12/day and the umbrellas $20/day

Ask the Community - Sebastian Beach

Is this a family friendly beach?

Not really. There are other beaches to consider. This is known as the gay beach, so if you're conservative this might put you off a little. If you're a liberal then you'll find it very comfortable.

Is this a clothing optional beach?

    I don't think so.

    Review Highlights - Sebastian Beach

It is not that obvious it is a gay beach since it does not have flags up like 12th Street Beach in South Beach does.

It feels much more relaxed and less crowded than Fort Lauderdale Beach. Right across from the beach, the main strip along Commercial Blvd has a bunch of restaurants, bars, ice cream spots, and small local shops. It's very walkable and has that classic laid-back Florida beach town vibe. We loved just strolling around after the beach, grabbing food, and enjoying the atmosphere. If you want a quieter, charming beach area with plenty to do but without the chaos, this is definitely worth visiting.

The beach itself is wide, clean, and perfect for a relaxing stroll or simply sitting back and taking in the ocean views. During our visit the water was surprisingly cold, and there was quite a bit of seaweed along with lots of jellyfish, so swimming wasn't really in the cards for us. That said, the scenery alone makes it worth the visit. The sound of the waves, the ocean breeze, and the gorgeous shoreline create a peaceful place to unwind. There is a Walgreens and a convenience store across the street to load up on supplies and snacks. My contact at the town, however, told me that the grassy area used to be a parking lot years ago and most of the amenities were added within the last ten years. There's resident permit parking right out front and metered parking just across the street. As you walk along the sidewalk there are colorfully painted Adirondack chairs -- two per -- under umbrellas. And a shade pavilion with chairs. At the beach entrance are various signs with information. No dogs are allowed nor is cigarette smoking on the beach. The park is open 7 am - 10 pm. There's a display with life jackets hanging from it in case someone needs to borrow one. And some info re rip currents and water safety. Two shower towers are at the entrance, too. There are bottom water spouts for washing the sand off your feet after the beach, as well. One of the nicest things was the beach access path. There are two entrances to the beach and one is covered in a hard mesh -- perfect for wheel chairs or wheeled carts or if you have trouble walking. I took a short walk out to the beach itself. It's wide with clean, white sand here. Mid week it wasn't busy with visitors. Talk about a "chamber of commerce" picture! I couldn't resist taking a short video.
