It turns out there is a lovely, perhaps a bit old fashioned pediatricians office in Yarmouthport. I called to make an appointment at 8:30 am and were seen at 9. The doctor seemed to be an experienced and pleasant lady. She covered all the most obvious and likely causes of this sudden onset of fever. 15 min later I walked out the door. My baby is fine, I didn't waste 1/2 a day waiting in line and didn't get stuck with ER bill.

AFTER the appointment, I was told they would not submit to insurance and hit me with nearly a $1K bill they had said insurance was supposed to cover. I took my daughter in for her 9 month well visit and vaccines. She had had complications soon after birth and the doctor did not do any evaluation herself at the appointment. My daughter was also cutting SIX teeth and she never checked her mouth. No feedback was given to me, written or oral, about her growth and development, but they did have several intrusive questions about our home and family life, and "offering" government programs. (my husband is a nurse, we earn a good income, and have nothing even close to a criminal history) I felt quite uncomfortable with the whole visit, so we switched to a different pediatrician in the area. Briarpatch charged me a $25 fee PER CHILD for me to PICK UP MY OWN CHILD'S medical records and personally bring it to the other office. Otherwise, they said it would take weeks for the request to be processed.

This is a really good place and gives great care! They also recently repainted the place, and it looks so good! I totally recommend it!

Having been through that before, I politely told her to fuck off - DCF takes weeks/months to respond - and now we need a new pediatrician. Technically the kids are still patients there, but taking them to appointments now is like taking the fucking cat to the vet. In a post Dr. Marz era, pass on Bass River. My 3 children have been there since birth and now I am being told to find a new practice. The wait time is usually long and the nursing staff went from good to awful. If I had a choice this would not be it. They need to add more people and stop taking new patients if they can't handle the ones they have now.
