Find a Toyota dealer that doesn't have a nonrefundable deposit policy…read more Summer 2023. I was looking for a Tacoma which is impossible to find and called Don Franklin Toyota, Corbin, KY. Initial call resulted in NO call back from sales, so I called back and got Stuart Robinson (I have NO problem with him) who told me the used trucks I called about weren't available (though they were on their website). He did however say a new Tacoma was coming in. Since I had called up to 15 other Toyota dealers within 200 miles of Nashville, TN and no new trucks were available, I agreed to a "nonrefundable" deposit. Absolutely ridiculous since the dealership KNOWS they will sell EVERY truck they receive and they had ZERO money invested in the sale. I'm in the process of buying from another Toyota dealership that went over and above to find a 6 foot bed Tacoma and has asked for NO MONEY to reserve the truck in my name. Don't waste your time on dealers who think they own all the cards. This probably applies to the whole Don Franklin "family" of car dealerships.

We agreed on it needing an oil change, tire rotation, fuel injector cleaning and another service I can't remember. After 2 hours, I looked thru the window of the service Dept and noticed my car sitting out back in a lot so I ask the lady if they'd started the work yet because I'd just reschedule. She went to check and wouldn't even come out to face me. She sent a mechanic out to tell me that they started the work, they just were doing it to the wrong car and they offered me a free oil change. I missed work for this appointment and that didn't even cover my lost wages. What incompetence. Making sure you had the right car is the easy part. I don't think I want someone that incompetent working on my daily drive. I won't be back.

I bought 2 vehicles from them. With the first, the 'check engine' light came on after only 50…read moremiles. It needed over $4000 worth of repairs to the engine, + $700 to repair flaws in the paint. The turbos needed to be replaced due to salt damage. The timing was so far off that the timing chain had to be replaced. They were nice to take this one back, but I lost nearly $2000 on various fees and costs. I left them with my second vehicle. The engine was good; the paint was great, but then the nightmares began. The vehicle had been DEEP in mud, which was not visible until you got way into it; cleaning had cleared all the noticeable mud. The mud had caused corrosion in the electrical circuits that even my local dealer could not fix. I spent $550 fixing NOTHING and gave up. The windshield had some streaks which I thought would clean off but turned out to be scratches. The rear differential made a grinding noise you didn't hear until you had driven it about 15 miles, something my test drive did not reveal. The radio had a CD of foul language rap music stuck in it. The vehicle seemed fine on paper: 1 owner, 63,000 Georgia miles. It cost me over $4000 to get rid of it, sold it back to them. Their excuse was 'depreciation'. I lost a total of $6000 of precious retirement money on two vehicles. The owner of the dealership was the one to blame for this, not his employees. They had tried to help. Hopefully the owner someday will learn how to treat his customers.
