The aquarium houses sulcata tortoises in a pen on the board walk. The sulcatas all have terrible pyramiding. Pyramiding is a form of metabolic bone disease caused by lack of UVB. The sulcatas have no access to natural nor artificially produced UVB, they are covered with an overhang which blocks the critically needed UVB rays. Pyramiding can also be caused from a sedentary lifestyle, the sulcatas have not much room to roam, they are al housed together all day when they are solitary animals. Metabolic bone disease can also be caused by inaccurate diet with lack of calcium, the calcium is then pulled from the skeleton and shell causing the bones and shell to become soft and deformed. Metabolic bone disease can become painful and effect the tortoises ability to walk correctly over time. The sulcatas also have no ability to burrow to regulate their body temperature. Their bedding is strictly hay which can mold quickly with moisture. Proper bedding for them to burrow in would be organic too soil and coco coir. The sulcatas have large water dog bowls, they have no access to a shallow large area of water to soak for hydration especially being in the hot summer weather. The sulcatas have not one hide in the enclosure. If the sulcatas are stressed from one another or the visitors or want to cool in a shady spot they have no options. Please do better, provide better for these amazing beautiful animals. If the aquarium is to provide education to it's visitors, educate yourselves and the visitors on at least their minimum requirements for a healthy life. read more

This is a cute little aquarium on the boardwalk but pretty pricey for the small amount of animals they have. As long as all the money goes to the animals I guess I don't mind. Very cool spot on the boardwalk! We loved all of the animals, reptiles and fish. They have a great touch tank that you could pet stingrays, baby sharks, horseshoe crabs and starfish. Ok so I love animals and love getting to see them from all around the world. I had high hopes going into the experience but that was too high. First off the place was an aquarium but they had Hedgehogs, Coatimundis, a Albino Raccoon and many other species that have nothing to do with the water. But despite that i kept hoping for a better experience but that was also quickly diminished after seeing the size of the enclosures and quality of them. Lets start with size, some of these animals need bigger enclosures not just tiny little ones. 3 Alligators two of which being 8 feet long and 2 wide were in this tiny room with a pool that was a little square. The python was massive and it had a little triangle. These eels were massive yet had little fish tanks from pet smart. Another big one is the white tip reef sharks. Like 600 Gallons for two is so little. They beed a much bigger space so they are able to thrive. Now lets move onto quality which was not great. From fake plants/grass and baby toys it was not awesome. At least take the time to give these animals realistic enclosures that mimic their real habitats. I think we need to learn that having so many animals shouldn't happen unless you have the best care for them. #QualityOverQuantity. The staff was very nice and probably mean well but i think they need to expand and get new bigger enclosures not ones from petsmart. Like I said in the beginning I love animals and i am going into a professional field that has to do with animals so please make the changes necessary to help these animals have better and not just happy but healthier lives. read more

Indeed this aquarium is small. Yet, based on the building size I wasn't expecting it to be any bigger. I have been to this aquarium a few years ago and not much has changed. I find this aquarium to be more of a hands on experience. Here you'll have the opportunity to touch many friendly stingrays, sharks, feed piranhas, gold fish and a huge cat fish. Look online for coupons. We used the Boardwalk Bucks to purchase 2 adult admissions and get 1 child admission free. The whole aquarium took about 20 mins. Behind the cashier there's a long turtle cage. Further down prior to entering there's a photo op area. Maybe using that area to expand the aquarium would be more suitable for more space. We did the aquarium about 8:00pm. Almost all the animals were active and seemed well taken care of. The stingrays were beyond friendly approaching the tank and swimming along. The monkeys kept jumping around and giving my little one a high five. The gold fishes enjoyed their pellets. Furthermore the employees were all friendly. read more

I am decently torn about this place. Not only is it not worth the price of admission, but it also changes based on the time of the day, and what day you go! Yay dynamic / surge pricing... We have been to the Wildwood boardwalk many times, but this is the first time that we went into the aquarium. My son had an OK time... He is still fairly young. They pack a ton of things into a very very tiny space! And they don't do a good job of it... It feels like someone's home aquarium that grew into a mini public aquarium. The nicest part was the gift shop at the end. Every tank looked way too small for the animals in it. They need to be double the size for all the attractions that they have. Seaport aquarium has officially made it on our list to go to every time we come to Wildwood! The staff are very nice and knowledgeable. They answered all the questions we had and we were even able to see the sharks eat! My kids (4 & 8) asked to come back in every time we walked past. My 8 year old is autistic and I've never seen him so excited and love something so much! The prices online are not the prices (they respectfully explained the prices were from years ago) but it was absolutely worth the money. I highly recommend coming here during your trip! read more

I wish I could rate this aquarium less than 1 star!! This place needs to be shut down. It is extremely dirty and disgusting. All of the animal enclosures are way too small for the animals! I wish I did not contribute any money to this establishment. I feel so terrible and sad for every animals that has to live here. I hope they get shut down soon and all of the animals get to live in a healthy habitat for them! Just to name a few specifics: The albino raccoon has a broken "hamster" wheel that it was using its arms to physically pull to get exercise. They have two giant alligators and one smaller one in a pool too small for even a child to swim in. They offer piranha feedings for $5. You put the fish into the tank and watch it swim away and hide in the corner to spare it's life. This was heartbreaking to witness. read more

The staff was super friendly, but we were the only ones there since it was early on just the second day open for the season. The guy inside seems really into what he does. Very informative and enthusiastic. They do have quite a few different animals to check out, some to pet, and some to feed, but they're kind of all crammed in to a small space. Animal people can decide how they feel about that. You can pet small sharks, sting rays, horseshoe crabs, and star fish when you walk in. You can feed some fish, turtles, and I think the alligators too. There's also eels, snakes, monkeys (I think), and lizards. You are able to come back throughout the day, which is nice so you can check back in with any animals who weren't super active your first time around. Not super expensive but $9 still seems steep for the size of the place. Good spot to get out of the sun I guess in the summer though. May be worth checking out, but don't go in with super high expectations. This isn't Camden, Baltimore, or even Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant. But it is what you make of it. I enjoyed the visit more than either of the other reviewers, although I must agree with their sentiment that the place is SMALL and not especially well-maintained. For the 2011 season, they have added marmosets (tiny monkeys) which was a real treat. And, of course, the feeding pool for turtles and goldfish is always fun. If you realize this is as much a place to get in out of the heat as anything else, and NOT a real professional aquarium, you'll enjoy yourself. I took the tour as a child, and loved it. Good place to visit to kill time while waiting to do something else, but don't expect to spend too much time because this is a quick tour. This was starting to look more like a mini zoo than an aquarium because they had species of mini monkeys and other non aquatic animals. This is a good place for the kids. Absolutely horrible. I feel so bad for these animals my heart is broken. The areas were extremely small the 3 large alligators could barely move around. The monkeys were in horrible shape, bleeding and eating away at their tails. At the end of our visit i asked the boy working if they move the animals to a different area when summer ends and he replied saying, "no they stay there all their life" and when i mentioned to him that the alligators were in a very small room he replied with, "well they don't need much room they don't move a lot.". A great place to visit on the boardwalk especially on a rainy day or just to cool off from the beach. The new owner, Brent, is extremely passionate about his animals. He is always there give him a talk. He has done the utmost research on how to care for his animals. He is the most selfless person and works countless hours to keep his animals cared for. Especially his alligators, he loves those 3 so much. Don't be disappointed on how it might be "small" it is truly a boardwalk gem. Don't be fooled by the glamour of "professional" aquariums (aka for-profit) where most keep animals with even shorter life spans due to captivity (looking at those who love their dolphins behind glass). And must I add alligators/crocodiles do NOT need large spaces for captivity! The Camden Aquarium had Big Mike (a 14 footer) in a very small enclosure that he was over half the size off. And he was perfectly fine. They are very territorial creatures and claim small spaces in the wild. Brent is trying to honestly educate the public and help children observe the world around them, right on the boardwalk. Don't skip out! read more

My wife and I went to this aquarium a week ago. We actually had a great deal of fun here observing all the different aquatic and land animals and touching some sharks and stingrays. We even got to catch some feedings, which were interesting and fun. I only rated a four rather than a 5 because it was a small sized aquarium. Despite the size, there was a good variety and amount still and we did spend a good hour's worth here being fascinated. Friendly staff too. read more

The words "pet a live shark" was what enticed me to pay for the admission. When you first walk in, it feels literally like a pet store that sells exotic animals. They did have eels, sharks, rays, and other animals like snakes, and marmoset monkeys. But what was more apparent then the animals were the condition of the tanks. They were barren. I think I saw a better salt water fish tank display at Petco, and going in there was free. This place was very small and their "display case" of sad and sickly animals was a disappointment. The sharks were in tiny tanks with barely enough room to swim around. Everything truly seemed crammed in. They even had alligators which I thought was cool but again the space was way too small!! This place could truly be something better if only they would expand and actually have the space available for those animals they have. "Seaport Aquarium" is more akin to a pet store that you have to pay admission to enter. Which makes me question would you really pay money to enter a small limited pet store?? read more

The aquarium is on the wildwood boardwalk. As soon as I walked in, something was up. There wasn't much going on. I came to the first fish tank which was normal. I turned to my left to see a 4 foot long moray eel in a tank it could not move in. Not to mention the filth and obvious lack of care was evident. On the opposite side of the same room was a small enclosure with smaller monkeys. Next to that was a tank with reef sharks that just sat on the bottom without room to move. One room over and the only other room was another 4 foot long eel with even less room to move. Adjacent was an enclosure with coatis. Finally, the creme dela creme was three adult or near adult American alligators stuffed in a less than 500 square foot enclosure. Their tail and snout practically touched the glass and they had trouble moving. Not to mention the absolute filth of the enclosure. These animals were abused and neglected and nobody should subject themselves to witnessing this. This place needs to be shut down. Don't waste your time. read more

Two stars because the touch pool is pretty cool--there's sharks and starfish and stingrays that you can pet, although if the stingrays are on the bottom of the pool you have to go fairly deep to reach them. I was past my elbow when I gave up. Otherwise, this aquarium is horrifying. The alligators in particular were awful to watch. There are three of them in a very small enclosure with barely any water and some astro-turf on the floor. You can pay extra to feed them, which consists of shoving these strange looking pellets through a pipe and having it fall in front of them, usually dirtying their water, and then watching them try to eat without having to move. It was so depressing I told my husband to meet me back at the front. The marmosets are pretty cool, although I don't know why an aquarium has monkeys. None of the animals were particularly lively or looked like they were in great conditions. I definitely wouldn't go back. read more

I've been coming here every year with my family for the last 4 years and it seems to get better every time! My daughter looks forward to petting the sharks and rays and it's always our first stop when we go to the boardwalk. Most times we go at least twice in the week we're there because my daughter and I love it so much. The staff is exceptional, very friendly and informative. The owner takes extremely good care of the animals and you can tell he loves them very much just by the way he talks about them. I will continue to go every year and I'm sure when my daughter is older she will bring her children. I highly recommend everyone go when they're at Wildwood! read more

Maybe I should've expected it. Don't get me wrong, a small aquarium on the boardwalk may have some appeal but I think there is so much more room for improvement. The place is dark and hot (then again it was a 95 degree day). The tanks don't seem to be too well kept. The glass tanks were very dirty, so don't plan on taking pictures. The touch the tail of a 2 foot nurse shark probably wouldn't appeal to much unless you are 5 years old or so. The koi pond seemed pretty cool. Lovely colors and display was great. It was definitely the highlight. The three alligators also added some cool factor but they were just there hanging out and again the glass was filthy. Though, there was one bubbly worker there that was super knowledgeable about the animals there. Spoke as if she had a passion for it, which is always nice to see. if you are really into marine/reptiles I say go for it, otherwise get some ice cream :) read more
