The store itself is well-stocked, organized and has an overall amazing vibe. They play GREAT music. They have a really well curated collection of stuff and I was super impressed by their collection of funk/soul/r&b. I found a number of cool stuff. I will say, their prices are really high, especially with condition of records. They were asking $25 for a vinyl with a shredded cover that I purchased in VG+ condition for $20 elsewhere. I would have bought WAY more from them, but why would I pay $15 for a record i could buy for $8-10 elsewhere that's probably in better condition? I know there's a premium on all records up here but with sales tax so high, it really prices out the base consumer. I had a stack of 30 records I wanted, but ended up only getting a few. I got two t-shirts and 3 records and it was $120. Ouch. Their "bargain bin" was anything but a bargain. Thrashed records, asking $15-25. Still a cool store, with great selection of genres. The lady that checked me out was really nice.

Until I started trying to bring in my own music from local bands that I play in. I've tried to bring in two separate projects from two different bands on two separate occasions. I walked in and politely introduced myself and presented the situation. I said, "I play in such and such local band, and we made some physicals of our last project", and then I'd ask if they'd be willing to sell some copies at their store. The first time, the employee literally laughed at me and said "I mean, I guess", and took out $1 price tag stickers and put them on my cassette tapes right in front of me. The second time, the owner Bryan, didn't even return my hello, audibly groaned under his breath and told me "he's super busy right now". He barely even looked at me, let alone check out what I brought in. I understand if the demand for local music isn't as high as other things. But the way this store goes about turning people away has 100% ensured that I'll never spend another dime here. Whatever they've got going on at this store; they certainly don't care about local music.

An exclusive music store it is not any longer but that is what you have to do either companies have to adapt or close. With that said I actually was impressed with the action figure selection here. Marvel Legends, Star Wars and DC action figures all caught my eye and I must say most of them I haven't seen at any other stores that I have been to so that is something I will definitely etch into my mind and it gives me a little bit more motivation to go to the mall. As far as prices go FYE has always been moderate to on the more expensive side of things. Much of the merchandise as well as the action figures reflect this but action figures in general(especially Marvel Legends) raise their prices just like stamps do. Music selection has always been fair with FYE. Seems like my musical tastes gets more specific and my preferred music has become older so the likelihood of locating music I enjoy diminishs at the few surviving music stores in my area anyway.

The checkout experience was smooth, though the space is a bit tight and there aren't many cashiers, so I could see it getting crowded during busy times. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the buyback program. I brought in 12 books that were new or in like-new condition (no damage, no markings and some hadn't even been read) and was offered just $0.50 per book, totaling $7 for all 12. This included three complete series and several standalone titles. Out of curiosity, I checked their shelves and saw some of the same books priced between $8-$15 each. Overall, it's a great place to shop for books, but I wouldn't recommend selling here if you're hoping to get fair value especially if your books are in excellent condition.

HOWEVER, I shouldn't be paying $40+ for a used PS4 controller with dirt and Cheeto marks on the outer shell. Takes 2 seconds to wipe that off for a paying customer. Secondly, I get home after purchasing this controller. Plug it in and it's drifting like crazy, just scrolls and scrolls and scrolls. It's like the staff team just accepted it from the previous owner and threw it on a shelf for the next lucky person to deal with it. A few days prior I bought a PS1 game from this store, excitedly got home to turn on my console and fire the game up to find out the game was damaged beyond repair. It would boot to the loading screen and that's it. Now, I know I should've checked this prior to leaving so I'll take that loss. BUT, they should be aware of what they are selling to the paying patrons of the store. I should not have to double check/do their work for them. I should be rest assured I'm getting quality used items/games from this store. If you own this company or you work for this company, please do us all a favor and pay more attention to the quality control of your items. If this happens to me again I'll be forced to stop supporting your business. These are incredibly easy things to fix. I shouldn't be going out of my way to consistently bring back defective items.
