"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence." - Ansel Adams
Ahh the words from Ansel Adams, the legend, the genius, that inspired three generations of photographers to see beyond the photo. Ansel Adams specialized in landscape & nature and even inspired me during my college days to take a couple photography courses, not sure how much I actually learned or even if I shutter correctly, but today, I certainly appreciate the art of photography. Now I just need a real camera again instead of my lazy smartphone. Yet, sometimes in life, it's not about the camera, or even what you know... it's about what's in front of you. And sometimes in life, it's all about Mother Nature.
Ansel Adams was born in San Francisco and died 82 years later in Monterey, California (1902-1984). This shows his love for the Northern California coastline. On the coastline of San Francisco there's a popular spot near the historic Cliff House called Seal Rocks. And yes, the Seal Rocks belong to the Seals, Albatrosses, Crabs, and Mother Nature.
Seal Rocks have been here what seems like forever, but the current location dates to around the Ice Age, y'know when our ancestors wore beaver pelts for briefs and hunted mammoths as a buffet. The coastal features today were formed by the actions of waves, wind, and the movement of sand. The coastline here is made up of steep rocky cliffs and sands from the south. It is an amazing site, indeed.
All in all, I highly recommend Seal Rocks, for both the nature lover and urban dweller. It's amazing how this breathtaking site can be seen so close to modern conveniences of a big city. The location near Cliff House allows you to even admire it from afar, but if you're the curious type... kickoff your moccasins and take a walk on the sand. Get as close to Seal Rocks as possible... yes, Seals, Marine Birds still visit the Rocks, but please don't swim over, not only because it's cold AF, but Sharks do roam the area too. However, don't be afraid as during low tides you can see the most amazing sights ever... Seal Rocks reflecting off the sands is simply breathtaking. One day I'll time it right and get down here during low tides. I might not be Ansel Adams, but I certainly appreciate the art of nature and having a heart that yearns for living... read more
