We had an amazing experience! I felt like I really learned how to ride a horse during this session. If you are looking for a tame experience, this is not for you! However, if you are interested in a more wild and unorthodox time, while learning how to ride as you are riding - intermixed with a few important life lessons along the way, then this experience is definitely for you.

Absolute first class, one of a kind experience. Steve is a genuine horse lover and a hands down overall great all around guy! I cannot begin to understand how there are even one star reviews... Steve went above and beyond to make this experience unforgettable! Please use this review to completely abolish any doubt that you may have based on the negative reviews... remember that Steve is a one man show! So use the following tips 1.) give Steve a simple heads up about your plans 24-48 hours prior. 2.) if you plan to ride in a low signal area like we did (REDWOODS) simply meet Steve at the ranch and follow him in your car! You're going to a forest! Of course it's going to be a low signal area ! 3.) Steve is 100% not a scammer... he's human and doing his part in saving these beautiful animals. Have some faith in him and follow the tips above and you'll have one of the absolute greatest experiences

Surely going to miss you Lucy

Our family & extended family, 4 adults, our kids 20, 19, 17, 9, 8, 7 went on sunset beach ride with Steve. After a family member pointed out some negative reviews, I was pressured to choose another equestrian business. Based on our budget & request to split our 3 hour ride amongst 10 riders, It was difficult to find another outfit to accommodate us. After several conversations & a very long string of texts w/ Steve, over several weeks, I felt good that Steve would live up to his word. This was a difficult commitment to make, as other family members were more reluctant, This was a long awaited, cross country trip & half the cost would have to be paid up front... So as we cut to the chase... The ride was Absolutely Amazing. Yes, Steve was a little rough around the edges, but he truly was a nice guy. He was our guide & was very patient with his instruction. He engaged with everyone, young & old, making everyone feel comfortable and safe... My last thought... Just like children are the best representatives of a parent....Words can't express how beautiful, well kept & affectionate Steve's horses are. We had 5 horses, all w/ different personalities & temperament. Steve carefully partnered each rider with the right horse & everyone truly bonded with their horse ( I will never forget my Lucy). It was truly an experience that everyone Loved & will always be Remembered. Thank You Steve

My husband and I planned a weekend getaway as a mental health break from my stage 4 cancer diagnosis. We booked a ride for mothers day morning at 10 am. We chose this activity over doing handrail carts through the redwoods. In hindsight i wish we had booked that instead. My first red flag should have been when I texted him a week later and asked a question about the ride and instead of just scrolling up to see our conversation, he had no clue who I was or when I was booked. This was even though I had already paid a $150 deposit through PayPal. The deposit he told me I needed to send it as friends and family so that they wouldn't hold it for 28 days. I'm now realizing it's so i can't get a refund through PayPal when you do it this way. I have currently filed a dispute with my bank as services were not rendered. He told me that he now had booked me on his calendar. I'm not sure why he didn't book me on the calendar when I first paid the deposit fee. I texted the morning before our ride to confirm (all of our communication was only through text). He texted me back that evening and let me know that there was a part he needed to be able to tow his horse, which wouldn't be arriving in time. He wanted us to come to him, which was 2 hours from us, and we had plans where we were after, so that was not possible. He also offered for us to reschedule, but we were leaving that afternoon and do not live close enough to schedule for another day. I asked to just cancel and get a refund of my deposit. He told me that it's expensive to feed 11 horses these days and that with his truck not working, he can't make money, so it would be a few days before he can get me a refund. Keep in mind that I have proof of all of this communication in text. While not happy about the fact that not only were my mothers day plans on my cancer-cation were ruined without enough time for us to schedule something else (handrails were sold out) and that I wouldn't get my money back right away, sure I understand times are hard I can wait a little bit for my refund. I have texted him once a week for 4 weeks ever since. First, he kept telling me that he still didn't have the part for his truck and couldn't work to make money. He has now stopped responding, so I filed a dispute with my bank as the services were not rendered, and I have full proof of this in my phone. After not receiving a refund and looking up reviews I see this seems to be a common theme and the responses he leaves are abhorrent from someone trying to run a business. I'm only leaving 1 star because you can't leave a review with 0 stars.

Best day ever, best birthday ever. If you really truly love horses and want to experience a real ride... go with Steve. I have ridden horses every now and then on different vacations and have always had a big love for horses and never have I had an experience like this, first it was the whole day. We met him at his ranch and followed him to the red wood forest where when we got there I had to go to the bathroom and since we were by a national forest there wasn't many close ones so he waited for us to get back with no problem at all. The ride was amazing and we even stopped at a bar to grab a beer and then headed back on our ride. After our insanely beautiful ride we got back to where we started and he said alright follow me we're going to the beach to ride alittle more. It was amazing.. about 7 hour ride. I couldn't walk after lol but it was an amazing time, Steve was the best always talking to us and telling us when we had to do certain things for the horses. You can tell you really loves his horses and what an amazing thing he's doing.. rescuing these horses and giving them jobs so they can live as happy and long lives as possible. His life is those horses and it's a beautiful thing to see and to experience. After that day my boyfriend has the same love for horses as I do and hopefully now my dreams of living on a ranch and owning horses will come true hahahaha thank you Steve for giving me and my boyfriend an experience that changed our lives!! Hopefully we can ride with seahorse equestrian again!!!! PS. Malibu, Sophie and Pedro were all beautiful amazing horses. Especially Malibu

I got to hang out with Marg

Steve is the best. He truly cares about the horses and you can tell--these horses are so well mannered and easy to ride. The experience is also phenomenal. My boyfriend and I like horses and will look for places that do horseback riding. However, because we are beginners, our options are typically limited. However... this place was so much better! For the first half of the day, we rode with another family. It was so fun--I was given full control of the horse, and we leisurely rode through the park. It was so beautiful and serene. And it was so nice hanging out with that family! For the second half of the day, we went to the beach. I loved it because we got to gallup! And Steve taught us patiently. This is truly an experience to remember and the best horseback riding experience I've had (and we've done over 5)! Sign up! Thank you Steve for sharing your Saturday with us.

We had a great experience with Steve and his horses. My daughter is an experienced rider and didn't want to take a traditional nose to tail beach tour. Seahorse Equestrian Tours delivered exactly what she was looking for! She was even able to run her horse along the beach with Steve. This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Monerey! I would highly recommend Seahorse Equestrian Tours to any rider that does not need to have their hand held through the horseback riding experience. What a fantastic way to end our vacation!

Steve got some great photos of us!

Best horseback riding experience I've ever had! I booked the all day ride for my husband and I. Neither of us are super experienced, but we've ridden a little before and I wanted a chance to go faster than on your typical trail ride. Steve definitely delivered. He brought two beautiful horses for us (a thoroughbred named Jackson and a mustang named Willy), and we started off at Fort Ord park. Steve knows the place like the back of his hand. He gave us some history and fun facts about the area, and showed us some gorgeous views. We finished up in the afternoon with a ride along the beach. Part of it felt like we had the beach all to ourselves! We got to cross a river and get our feet wet (or more than just feet in my case), and there was plenty of room to gallop. I can't believe I haven't done a beach ride until now. I have to admit I was a little hesitant to book after reading some of the negative reviews, but the positive ones won me over. I'm happy to say we had no regrets. Steve clearly cares for his horses and treats them well. He was responsive by text and was actually 30 minutes early to our meeting spot. He will really customize the ride to you and what you're comfortable doing. I would love to ride again with Seahorse Equestrian!

Mike and crew were great guides. Horses healthy and well taken care of. Beach ride is a trail ride, nose to tail, but was still enjoyable.

My daughter entered into the horse world via typical horseback lesson experience. She received excellent instruction in rider form at a top riding school but she became bored with just jumping on a horse for the purpose of getting through the transitions and jumps while looking good. She craved a deeper bond with her equine partners. So, being a brand new horse person myself, and only to support my daughter from afar, I found Stephanie in a Google search. I figured some horseback lessons that simulated actual horse ownership would cure the bug. I also decided that since this experience would be more than just tacking up the horse and riding, I decided to take lessons too so I could supervise my daughter from the ground. When my daughter first started riding, I wouldn't even pet the horses, and I was the least likely candidate to be a horse owner, that's how resistant I was to this whole horse fever she caught. I thought for sure these true "horsemanship" lessons would end this nonsense. Well, Stephanie didn't cure the horse bug. She made it worse, it was contagious, and I caught it. She stirred a new passion in my daughter and I that opened up a whole new world where horses are now more than a hobby, we have a new lifestyle. Fast forward to today, we are the humble owners of a beautiful, dramatic, and sensitive thoroughbred gelding and Stephanie is our trainer. Forget thinking that this is your typical trainer situation where the expert does the hard work of training your horse and you come out only to ride and experience the fruit of that labor. Stephanie is teaching US how to train our horse. Her lessons involve us in every part of the equine from the how the horse thinks to how the horse moves - on good days and bad days. Some of our best lessons, even when we first started, have been in (and continue to be in) imperfect conditions where we were making mistakes and Stephanie patiently taught us what was going on with the horse mentally, how we created the situation, and how to correct it. She will not do it for you, and she will make you take it slow to do things right. You can do things fast, or you can do them right. Thankfully, she has the patience and calm demeanor of a saint with kids and nervous, newbie, somewhat resistant, older adults. Stephanie just has something special to offer people that is vitally lacking in our fast paced, over tech'd, and over-achieving culture. The character qualities that are being instilled in my daughter (and myself) through this journey is not something the fanciest training barn or most expensive private school could ever teach. It is hard work that teaches you how to slow down, be present, and be teachable. Though the word has lost its meaning, Stephanie is a true natural horseman and she will teach you how to understand and communicate with the horse from the moment you make contact. If you want a truly fulfilling equine partnership that is unlike anything offered at training and lesson barns, contact Stephanie. Your horse will thank you.
