The Seafood Fest Boca Raton is a monthly seafood truck round up hosted by Island Boyz in a shopping plaza in front of Diamonds by Raymond Lee on Federal Highway. Entrance is free. Although there were a lot of people at the event I got there pretty early and was able to find parking behind the shops in the next plaza. There was a lot of variety in the trucks, smoothies, fries.conch, fish, crab, lobster, and of course alcohol. They even had vegan options and meat for the non seafood loving members in your party. Potato Corner, Wasabi, Juan's Chubby mermaid, Captain Lobster, Los Champs, Miami Yard, and Man Ting were some of the trucks that came. There were at least 15 trucks.
My mistake was getting in the line for Island Boyz Conch Shack. It took an hour and a half to get my conch. I could have gone to any of the other trucks and gotten my food right away. After the first hour I was angry I didn't just go to Captain Lobster who always remembers me with a warm greeting and serves the best lobster rolls for $15. I thought I would try something different this time and let's just say lesson learned. I was in line so long I was able to leave, get a Pina Colada, come back and nothing moved. If Island Boyz hadn't taken so long I would have gotten dessert from the Churro and ice cream truck. At least everyone in line was nice and sharing the pain and I was entertained for a little while by the cutest little boy dancing to the D.J.
The next event will be on November 16. Will I come back? Yes, this is the greatest convergence of seafood serving food trucks in our area, but I will never wait an hour and a half for food ever again! read more
