The teachers and the children put on an elaborate program every year at graduation! WONDERFUL PLACE FOR YOUR CHILDREN!

They definitely get them ready for school. He was never scared or unhappy to go there. He had a great teacher (Miss D) who had a firm but caring way (he needed that!). He is well adjusted and socialized and loved his teachers, including subs or rotating scheduled ones. We were kept well informed of any needs for improvement so we could coach him and work with them to help with social concerns. I would have to run back to his classroom to get a forgotten hat, coat, etc and when walking through the classrooms I couldn't help but notice how fresh it smelled. You could tell the end of day was dedicated daily to CLEANING. They wouldn't let him stay if he was sick. (I had him at a private daycare previously that didn't even inform me until I went to pick him up that he had a 104 fever and was bright pink *AND* other children were playing around him: NOT ALLENS, ( this was at Casper, Stephanie Family Care). He was isolated, up front and not around other children when I came to get him. They even called me with a "Hey, he has had a few episodes of diarrhea, one more and you will have to come get him. It's helpful to a working mom to put in a notice instead of just dropping trough. Honestly though, he was rarely sick at this daycare. We were worried since we hear about sick kids at daycare spreading, but it seemed he only caught stuff from us, not the other way around. We still use them for holidays when school is closed and they are very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone who asked. They may not be the most modern, but I felt secure (cameras everywhere, Grandma got questioned thoroughly until they got to know her) and didn't have any bad "Mom vibes".

The small class sizes, individual attention and no assigned homework has made a HUGE difference in our family life. On the rare occasion he doesn't finish his work at school because of a doctor/dentist appointment, he comes home & immediately completes his work. He NEVER cared about his schoolwork & homework was ALWAYS a struggle until he started at Center Academy at St. John's Bluff. I am so thankful to have options such as this school because some kids just don't do well at large public schools and need different accommodations that other schools can't offer. Plus we have NEVER had a bullying issue or anything even close to that. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Center Academy if your child has unique needs.

As a parent, good school are essential to my child's life. Woodland Acres has progressed in the few…read moreyears I have known of it. They have moved from an unpopular school to being one of the more coveted medical MAGNET programs in the Arlington area. The school has taken many precautions after some tragic events in 2012 across the nation to ensure the safety of the children. Security fences all over the schools to prevent people from walking into any classroom, while they have a secure check-in process at the main office. The teachers are very friendly and open in communication and are open to seeing you when you have any questions. My Feagins is a wonderful principal who tries to go above and beyond to make sure every student and every parent have a good experience while attending the school. He is very involved in all student activities and pushes the anti-bullying agenda for everyone. They offer many opportunities for parents to stay involved in school activities, such as FCAT sessions, Readind and Mathematics Celebrations, as well as Spring Carnivals and Summer Open Houses with food and games. PTA is actively involved. Teachers are caring and open-minded. Office staff is thorough and help make sure all the students information or safety are secure. A great school if you're looking for an alternative curriculum to help raise a future doctor, nurse, or even veterinarian. Their medical curriculum begins from VPK with the basics of the 5 senses to the cardiovascular and central nervous systems in the 5th grade. I can appreciate that my children are learning more than they normally would at any other public school.
