I signed her up online, easy, and got up early on Wednesday to go surfing. Cody was her instructor and he was wonderful and attentive to all of my daughter's questions and chattiness. After sand lessons and safety instructions they went into the surf. My wife and I were completely surprised to see Lydia stand up and ride her first wave for a good 30 feet. Yew! We kept the board for two additional days and my daughter continued to shred and amaze her cousins and our neighbor beachgoers. I highly recommend Surf City Surf School to one and all.

I cannot imagine it going any better. My first run, I did on my knees. Next, I was standing up. I ended up coming in and watching my family. I'd thought I'd beat the storm, but it was already pushing waves over the docks. They let me postpone my excursion for a few days until the weather improved, then helped me out again. Both Mike and Lani know surfing, it's in their blood. They are well connected to the community and are just great people. Great selection and their store has most anything you'd need to kayak or surf. I enjoyed looking around in their shop. It's actually cheaper for me to rent from the Hot Wax Surf Shop than to haul my own kayak to the island. I can't think of a better place to go for rentals, accessories, and good solid advice.

Somebody told these guys that ukuleles and patch hats were in, so they jumped on the bandwagon. Slide to the back and whada we got here? Longboards. You tryna cruise down a mountain pass wearing a 3-percenter hat playing Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" on a ukulele and somehow drinking Ocean Spray for TikTok likes? YUP! Right here; come getcho contradictions. And after a long day of sidewalk surfing, find yourself right back here at the BAR taking in the scenic views of kayaks strung from the rafters (there's a pun there I just know it) and dreamy tents on high. The staff was very helpful telling me the prices and what was on sale. Then I turn and on side of store was a small sip and shop.. cheapest beers in new bern from what I got told..lol.. all kinds of beers to choose from. I will definitely have to bring a friend and come back for that. The very nice lady I spoke to that works there said it keeps the customers around for a bit longer lol.. pretty smart plan if you ask me! I walked further into the store and they have all kinds of clothing and things for the person that enjoys the outdoors.. prices were not bad at all and with sale going on made it even better. She spent the whole time in the water keeping watch, but also gave my daughter the chance to catch waves on her own as soon as she was able. She loved it and we are looking forward to going back next summer, maybe even for a camp! Owners made sure our request for a female instructor was honored and were very responsive regarding any questions we had. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

This beach has become my favorite east coast beach. My family and I were here in late November thru…read moremid December and visited this beach almost everyday while we stayed at the Inns. The beach is a short drive from the Inns. The beach is very clean and the beach is beautiful to walk during low tide. During the weekdays we had the beach to ourselves for the most part. There are plenty of parking spaces during the winter time. The weekend definitely had more foot traffic but we had a weekend that was in the 70s. It was so lovely to walk up and down this beach. The sand is great for walking even with shoes on. I look forward to coming back during warmer months in the future. The views here are so calming and peaceful.

If i were in San Diego or pulling into Haleiwa it's understandable...but Surf City? North Carolina? I was near insanity, but too close to the shop to turn around. With the infuriating anger building I decided they had one chance to get my business. And it was slim. And what happened? Great, comfortable, friendly customer service. No pressure sales. Two days later and I'm back ordering a board from them. It's a nice little shop with pretty much everything you would need. Be sure to check out the consignment section...saw a cosmetically beat but great condition Hawaii Pro Designs longboard sitting in the back, in addition to a variety of short boards in varying conditions with varying prices. George is awesome. Send him your business. I've stopped into most other "shops" in the area and been brushed off, leaving me feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (minus the prostitution). Lesson to other shops in the area...don't judge a book by its cover - you just missed out on $2k in sales this time around (not to mention future business), as I'll never go back to your establishments.
