SERVPRO of Salem West

SERVPRO of Salem West

ServPro does great work, no matter how challenging the job!…read more The team taking care of a serious leak & water damage was thorough, professional, and their work exceeded all expectations!

In the process of selling our home, the inspector had noted "possible bio-organic growth" in attic…read more I knew there was no way this was possible, as I am up in the attic very regularly, and it is in very good shape up there (the roof is also newer as well). To satisfy the buyer however, I had an inspection done by ServPro so that they could write something up for me to give the buyer saying that it had been addressed and that there was no mold. The technician who came out was a very friendly, nice guy. He explained to me that what he saw in the attic was nothing more than discoloration of the wood, and there was definitely no mold. He told me they see this all the time in Oregon, and it's not a very big deal, but inspectors have to list it as "possible growth" just to cover themselves from potential lawsuits. He told me they would treat it with something (though he didn't mention what), take photos of it, and write-up a report to give to the buyers. He was out here for probably 30-45 minutes, including the time it took him to do his thing in the attic. The cost for all this? $500. Truth be told, I'd be leaving 5-stars if it wasn't for the cost. I personally would have expected something like this to cost around $300. I figure his time is probably worth $100-$150 an hour (including driving to my house), plus spraying the product, and writing up the report. So I do feel the price was greatly inflated as they know that in my position as the seller, I really have no other choice but to satisfy the buyer. That being said, if it wasn't for the outrageous price for 30-45 minutes of his time, I would be leaving 5-stars. However, I'm going to leave 3-stars because of this. I have no issues with this company as they were all very friendly, responsive, and polite. I just think that $500 is a bit of "price gouging" for something so simple. I would have had no problem doing this myself, I'm just not an official company, so I couldn't give my buyer a nice letterhead saying there was no mold. In summary: Fantastic company, friendly and punctual employees, but drastically inflated prices.

Your Crawlspace Guys

Your Crawlspace Guys

These guys were great to work with. I had 3 different companies come out to give bids. First…read morecompany said I needed a new vapor barrier, a trench dug, sump pump installed along with some other suggestions. They even had a charge of $400 just to lay the plastic down from crawlspace to front door. (that's not just included?) 10k bid. Then the next guys came out and stated basically the same thing, but as the guy came out of the crawlspace, he exclaimed, "Wow, is it ever MUGGY down there...!" His bid was for the same french drain w/ pump but also wanted to do a baking soda sand blast treatment of sorts. He didn't show me any pics of the mold that he said he found. I've been in my crawlspace about a dozen times, and never saw any indication of mold or past standing water signs. He bid 14k! Then, I had Colton from Your Crawl Space Guys come out and take a look. He basically said that he didn't see any water lines on the foundation or any real other signs of standing water issues and that a french drain and pump wouldn't be necessary at all. Just needed to patch up some rodent entry points, replace the vapor barrier, and remove some rodent droppings and debris. 2k. He said they would throw a drain and pump estimate on there just so I had the numbers if I wanted to go that route. In the end, I had them add on some rodent disinfectant service and I wanted them to remove an old abandoned oven vent and patch the hole. I spoke with Rich at their office and we went through all of the work to be done in great detail, so that there were no false expectations or extra fees, etc. He was extremely helpful, fair priced and honest. I think removing a large section of vent duct work from an old oven and then patching the hole with concrete is easily worth $100 bucks. Very reasonable. Patrick came out with another guy on the day of the work and was very communicative and knowledgeable. He was able to confirm that the existing pipe in the crawlspace was in fact going to the low point drain and the drain was functional with a one-way valve that was working fine. He removed the abandoned oven vent duct work and patched the hole with a nice concrete and mesh patch. All of the rodent droppings and contaminated insulation was removed and a new vapor barrier installed. During the work, he pointed out that there were large gaps where rodents could come through by the furnace in the garage and the crawl space. They went and picked up some anti-rodent foam and sealed all of those gaps with no additional charge. My crawlspace is a 100% beautiful now. I would definitely recommend these guys to any family, friends or strangers. They are reasonably prices, fair, and best of all, HONEST. Don't bother looking anywhere else. These are the guys to go with. -Ryan M.

Service seemed to be good until there was miscommunication. Then explanations changed?…read more We asked Your Crawlspace Guys to come back out after they worked on a wall, but it was still showing movement- we were told that they didn't know the problem was to the extent that it was(1 inch cracks appearing throughout as time went on in the summer) didn't know so much shifting would occur, and didn't have the tools needed to truly fix the problem, but that it would be a reoccurring issue due to the groundwater levels and yearly settling. Other back and forth continued for some time, and once a dissatisfactory review was posted online, their explanation changed. It changed to they knew the issues at hand, but they weren't hired for THAT, so they didn't fix it. Instead of acknowledging my complaints individually, the owner places blame on me and apologised for ME "being unrealistic" - AFTER THEIR OWN WORK INVOICE SAID IT WOULD DO SOMETHING THAT IT DIDN'T. They also claims they did the work for the sellers, and not even me and my partner....as the estimates, and invoices have my name listed on it, as well as my partners(name highlighted in green on attached photo). If they really didn't do the work for us, I would have expected him to hit back with "I couldn't find you in the system" like they have on other negative reviews. I also would have expected them to decline to even come back out to our house, if that was the case. The owner also claimed the company replaced a vapor barrier for me at some point, maybe they meant at closing?? but their response made it seem like they did it as some sort of courtesy sometime after the intial work was done. They either failed to communicate yet another thing, or they made up info to try to make a negative google review look better. We might never‍ know lol. They have so many positive reviews that our experience truly has us scratching our heads as to why our experience has sucked. If my partner worked on someone's car, but the same car came was back within 6 months, with even more issues, and all he had to say "sorry your car is failing, but I didn't know it was going to get to THIS extent, and I don't even have tools for this", he would still be held responsible in his position. It's been nothing but a headache for the last year, I can't go into my garage without feeling frustration and wishing we had gotten bids elsewhere instead of taking the route we did. I recommend going elsewhere for foundation specific issues(they do fine with crawl space work), especially if you're getting work done before closing/using escrow. That, or make sure to physically be present during all conversations and scheduling regarding what's needed so that questions can be asked and stories, blame and explanations can't be shifted later.

I needed big help with my Eugene home I had just purchased…read more There was no place to put my dishwasher without restructuring the kitchen. The bathroom had the most awful, early 80's, peach colored shower enclosure, I could not live with - and the counter was much too short. The backyard had a large lawn and a small deck - it was crying out for a more useful space for entertaining. My street generates a lot of traffic noise and I needed something to help reduce it. I also wanted an attractive trash/recycling bin deck, close to the street, for convenience. I looked for reviews and Emerald Valley Home Repair popped up. I like licenses and BBB ratings - Ted has them. He was professional in his walk through and intelligent, creative and confident with his advice and ideas - that he quickly put me to ease with his clear rapport I chose Ted Colee. My new larger kitchen space includes my necessary dishwasher and a couple new cabinets and sparkles with quartz counter tops throughout. He also replaced the lighting. The bathroom shower panels were removed and replaced with new bright white tiles. The deck steps down to a circular stone patio that allows for more entertaining and several large potted plants. I worked with Ted on ideas for the front driveway and we came up with a spectacular walled in - shingled and planter deck. It looks fantastic and provides more privacy in my front yard and most importantly, has reduced the road noise. The shingled trash/recycling/green-waste bin deck has a drop down ramp gate: So convenient! This was a series of jobs that effectively have turned this house into my home. Knowledge, skill, dependability, trust and respect are all vital in building that working relationship and creativity and flexibility complete the package. Bonuses are his abundant experience - Ted even knows plants. I have worked with Ted since and highly recommend him!!

They did a roof job for me and now I am hiring them to do my floors in my house. Super nice guys, long time Oregonians, they are locals, so they know all the best places for construction supplies. Ted used to do architectural landscape, so he is ideal for outdoor projects. I shouldn't tell you how great he is, because he will get booked so much I won't be able to get him myself. 5 stars!
