Two years ago my wife and I bought a gun mostly for protection and somewhat recreational. I was not a fan of this particular gun and wanted something smaller. So what do you do with a gun you don't want?? You sell it responsibly. Having no idea how to sell a gun but knowing I have seen a million pawn shops in our area that say "we buy guns" I figured I'd start with my trusty Yelp search. SDS popped up with fantastic reviews and then remembered that I had driven by it a million times. So after brunch on a Saturday we stopped in. Right inside the door there is a register to your right where they clear all incoming firearms to ensure they're not loaded. Don't be a dick and just walk past this guy! This is also the guy that will help you with all that you need to know and point you in the right direction. This day it happened to be Anthony aka Espo, very nice guy! He was very helpful, nonjudgmental, and clearly a multitasker as he was helping another gentleman along side of us. We sold our 9mm for a what I thought was a very fair price. He priced the ammo we had but a guy next to us offered more for it and clearly we couldn't do anything with it since we had just sold the gun so, deals all around that day! Anthony was very entertaining and a great conversationalist which was nice since I was clearly uncomfortable in a gun store and not really liking guns! Anywho, like I said, they have a very nice selection and some gorgeous safes and beautiful leather concealed carry purses too! When we're ready to buy again, this is where we'll go! read more

The associates are all rude ass holes that have their heads up their own ass. First guy on the phone should do sprint drills because he sounds morbidly obese. They sold me a revolver out of time online and then blames me for the damage it already had. Very unprofessional. It was like dealing with pot head teenagers. read more

Well, its worse then anyone could have imagined. Service sucks, value sucks and selection is abysmal. If that isn't enough, these POG clowns are charging 35$ for a gun transfer in, and a 35 dollar fee for you to take it out. This could have been avoided by simply having an actual business plan. Listen, I understand Colorado is absolutely out of control with the infringements, that doesn't give you the right to screw the customers. Buy somewhere else, a pawn shop has better customer service. One thing good to come out of this will be shops like this wont exist much longer. Maybe we can get someone with intelligence because these people have NOTHING smart to say. read more

Found these guys while looking for a particular handgun online. Prices were better than any others I'd seen. Ordered it on Saturday (yes, you can legally buy a firearm online). Sent my dealers FFL on Monday, shipped Tuesday and in hand Friday. Received as advertised & better condition than expected. To help set expectations - if the firearm doesn't have a case or box it comes well packed in a shipping box. I'm sure that not adding extras helps keep the prices down. These guys aren't just in it for the money. They are knowledgeable, kind, and valued. This is one of the only gun stores I've been to where it's obvious that they care more about the second amendment, than they do about making money off of it. I sold a number of weapons through these folks, and the owner and employees were nice and reasonably knowledgeable. The only reservations I had was that they tried to feign ignorance of the value of several arms, though knowing my own values, I held the line. These folks ordered a Tisa Faith pistol for me, and I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The salesman wasn't familiar with this firearm (licensed copy of Beretta "Cheetah" .380), but listened to me and promptly ordered the firearm. I am wheelchair-bound, but found the facility easy to navigate and the staff was very helpful, even helping me with the laptop for the background check. Not a perfect place, but fun! Large inventory of new and used guns and accessories. Lots of banter between staff and customers, which I enjoyed. Highly recommended! I at first felt that the price of the firearm was more than I had seen it listed on-line, but while waiting on the background check, spotted an actual Cheetah in a display case: over $1000! It was truly beautiful, but I paid less than 1/2 for the Tisas made in Turkey! Highly recommended! read more

I purchased a collector grade shotgun at the Tanner Gun Show last Friday and, having to deal with Colorado's new 3-day waiting period, elected to have SDS hold the firearm in their store and conduct the transaction. As I said, I purchased this particular 50-year-old gun because it was in mint condition, having only two minuscule marks on the stock. I inspected the shotgun at SDS on Saturday when I completed my background check--condition as purchased on Friday. Today, Tuesday, when I returned to pick up the gun there were two new ragged inch-long scratches on the fore stock. I pointed out the discrepancy to the owner and he blew me off. Said I should have purchased a gun case to protect it. He also said he can't be responsible for dozens of employees moving guns in and out of safes. So, in other words, I paid a "professional" gun shop $41 hard-earned dollars to do their job, and in return received a gun in worse condition than when it went into their shop. So, in three days SDS did more damage to the gun than it received in the preceding 50 years. Now, I get it, mistakes happen and material things can be fixed. What I really wanted was an apology and perhaps a partial refund of my processing fee, but I got attitude instead. In short, I was told I should have taken preventative measures to protect the gun while it was in their care. While I've bought guns from SDS in the past, never again. I'll exercise my freedom to buy firearms, as I often do, from many other customer-friendly shops in Colorado Springs, like the Shootin Den or Springs Armory. I recommend you do the same. read more

The pawn shop I went to before there guys offered less than half of what SDS was filling to pay for one of my favorite firearms that I had to part with due to some car trouble. They were super transperant on how they came to their offer and extremely fair in how they dealth with me. Meanwhile, it was extremely diffcult to walk out wihtout making a new purchase. Won't go there anymore. Had a firearm transferred there from a private individual. Found out that they refused the package. One small line about them not doing private transfers until they can be done same day. It was not even on the FFL page like they told me. Now more money to send to another FFL. We went in with a Scar 17S, with extra magazines, a red dot, and other extras. We have done business with them before, and had alright experiences, but not this time. First they were condescending, treated us like we are stupid, and then played silly games with us. We understand they need to make money, so they will never pay retail. My husband sold firearms for over two years, and is a collector, he knows what they are worth and exactly what they are. I have been in automotive sales for twelve years, and even though I do not have extensive knowledge in firearms, I do know all the sales tricks in the book. We were told one thing three times, when we asked for more we were told "I have to check with the boss," then the comments disparaging the firearm (in the car business we call that devaluing the trade) to the boss so we could "overhear," then offering us less than what we were told the first three times because the boss didn't want to go to the bank. Stinky sales games 101, and done really badly. We will never step foot in this place again, will never recommend them again, and we will make sure no one we know does. read more

Have come here about 30-40 times in the last 2 years. Besides maybe once or twice they have never lowballed me on trades, or when selling a gun. Always have competitive prices on guns. Have bought 8-10 guns from them, magazines, tons of ammo and have always left feeling like I got a steal. Besides for Paradise sales, I won't even go to other gun shops in the Springs. Absolutely pleased with my experience here. The men working were refreshing. Finally, a gun shop with workers that don't immediately treat me like some dumb broad who might accidentally shoot off her own ear while brushing her hair. I knew what I was looking for and they didn't try to sell me something other than what I wanted. Although they offered to order me a different model, they had exactly what I was looking for and within 15 minutes (given to me with love by the government background check processing time, not the workers), I was able to leave with the exact shiny new handgun that I had gone to various other shops to find. Very pleased, and will return. Note: they do not do gun repairs here! Other notes: respectable selection...ability and willingness to order what isn't in stock...knowledgeable and respectful staff.... AND buy/sell/trade options. (The ...'s are for dramatic emphasis) Overview opinion note: This is actually a pretty legit little storefront- not what meets the eye simply because of the friendliness and quality of their staff. Definitely worth avoiding the larger gun shops, and more established places filled with grumpy old political pushers. My only suggestion for them would be to expand the gun cases to improve in stock selection to cut out the other half of their pawnshop-ish side. This is one of my go to places for firearms and ammo! I've bought more than a few firearms from them (don't tell my wife!!). The staff is always professional, courteous and helpful. They act like they actually care about their business and their customers. I do wish they carried more inventory, but to their credit, they rotate inventory regularly and charge a reasonable price. Their prices are listed with tax included, so you know exactly what you the out the door price is. I also like that they sell ammo - it's again not the largest selection but they always have all of the major calibers in stock. I've seen that they are also doing special orders now - I haven't tried that out yet but given my experience with them so far, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. read more
