Long story short, all the basic machines and freeweights you need to train are here. I've been…read moreusing this gym for 3.5 years and it's definitely not Lifetime Fitness, but it gets the job done. It's also conveniently placed on the UTMB campus next to the Jennie Sealy hospital. The weightlifter necessities: - 2 conventional squat racks - 1 multifunctional Crossfit setup (with 2 squat racks) - 2 multifunctional cable setups - 1 leg press - 3 bench presses - 4 standard benches (2 adjustable, 2 flat) - 1 standard seat - dumbbells up to 100 lbs - preweighted straight barbells up to 100 lbs - loadable EZ bar - 2 stairmasters And most of the usual accessory machines (seated/standing calf raise, row, hip abductor/adductor, hamstring curl, quad curl, pec and delt fly) Huge number of treadmill and bicycle variants. Decent spacious rooms with showers. There is a room with woodgrain flooring and mats, but you're not allowed to enter if there is a planned activity (usually dance classes on 6PM weekdays). There is a full basketball court, but be aware that sometimes it's reserved for volleyball (T/Th 7pm) and soccer (Friday evening, not sure about time). Throughout the year, there are several reservations for IM games as well including basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball. This place is PACKED on Mondays 5-6PM. Gets progressively more empty as the weekdays continue, and on weekends you should have very little problem using the equipment you want. If you don't like coming to the gym at a busy time, avoid 4:30-6:30PM. Overall solid gym, but the only reason to get a membership here is out of convenience of location (close to UTMB, or maybe your partner works at UTMB).

I come to this gym all the time and it's always very clean and the front desk is very nice. They…read morehave a great amount of machines though it does get quite crowded at around 5-7pm. I love that they have a separate room for classes like spin and zumba but do wish they offered more group classes throughout the day. I personally use the treadmills and the free weights the most and pretty much all their equipment is new. If anything doesn't work they have it up and running fast too. There is a spacious locker room, though I believe you have to pay to get a locker for yourself for the year.

I apologize for getting signed in evening instead of morning and The Man in the office had already signed me up ! Tonight I just wanted to take shower and rest a min then tomorrow I wanted to start light and discuss my fitness goals either then or some other time!! Well the lady with the Curly hair told me if I wasn't ready to discuss my fitness goals then leave "call it a night come back tomorrow" I felt really uncomfortable vibes from her but I told myself well it is almost 7pm and registration office was ready to leave but I had already registered! And then I thought well she's just busy and maybe was about to start a Zumba class or something and wd like to invite me join that but no she was leaving and clocking out and didn't have time to discuss my fitness goals anyway and that just really made me feel uncomfortable,Like she was going outta her way to be mean cause of My Look !! I also told her I had had a terrible accident, basically displaced,I get SSDI through my past imployer ! I have a doc appointment tomorrow and a appt with a Apt Manger to get settled in ! I spent my last dime basically on hotels here the past week and a half and I felt if id paid outta pocket with my own credit card and not used My Healthcare insurance card I would have been treated differently!! I forgot her name but she had shoulder length curly blonde hair and I don't see the point in asking me my fitness goals when she was clocking out to go home and didn't have time to discuss them with me in the first place!!? I do apologize that I didn't register early in the day but like I am saying and I told her already that I was in pain from accident and being displaced!!

It had been awhile and the yogi Cecilia was super helpful to get my lizard and pigeon pose correct. Great atmosphere, very chill and Zen. I've gone to one freebie session at Galveston Island Brewery led by Melody several months ago and was impressed. I signed up for 30 consecutive days as a personal challenge. Going back tomorrow! Oh the cool lavender towels on the forehead were a pleasant and classy touch! 2nd day, went and Melody the owner was the yogi. I was so happy she did not focus on the same area! Obviously they coordinate-what a concept. Absolutely amazing atmosphere and experience.

The first day I came to class it was small, understandably due to COVID, everyone knew everyone. I was welcomed in with open arms (6ft away of course)! Theres a good amount of teachers that bring variety but the classes are quite structured. This is more strength focused studio, no zen or yin classes that I know of. Fun event style classes every once in a while, COVID permitting I'm sure. Woga (wine and yoga) class coming up that I am really looking forward to! Great location and small class size! Everyone is spaced 6ft apart with plenty of extra space and air flow.
