This is in stark comparison to some of the other smaller furniture stores nearby where it can be a bit hit and miss, altough there still worht a visit. This joint though is pretty dependable. Good gear, good selection, good pricing...good god, what are you waiting for??

Now, don't set your sights too high - you're unlikely to scoop a vintage dresser for a fiver here - a lot of the furniture is cheap MDF-based stuff. However there's a high turnover, and wee gems do appear from time to time. To make space for incoming donations, items in the showroom are discounted if they don't shift quickly. I've picked up a lovely display cabinet, tallboy / linen store and blanket box for around £30-£40 each. Compared to the Salvation Army showroom also on Dumbarton Road at Partick Cross, the prices here can seem quite steep. This is certainly true for the MDF furniture and the electricals - an old CRT television was priced over £100... rather ambitious. But the older, solid furniture can be a bargain. Remember BHF if you have unwanted furniture which is still in good condition, they will uplift and collect gift-aid on your donation when it sells. They let you know how much the charity received for your donation too, which is nice!

Sorry Bo-Concept - but I really was not impressed…read more Yes, you have a lot of attractive furniture. Yes, some of your smaller homeware pieces aren't too overpriced (especially in the sale). But that's where my positives stop. First up, for a so-called upmarket furniture store, I thought this place was actually really grubby. A bit of floor mopping wouldn't have gone amiss, and you'd have been wise to have removed the used coffee cups from your £400 dining tables. Secondly, your staff were not welcoming. We were given some really dirty looks by a certain member of your staff, and that was even before I'd (quite loudly) complained about the aforementioned coffee cups. And thirdly - a piece of your pretentious £350 "artwork" (you know the type, where someone has typed out a lot of cliched so-called life advice on a canvas in different fonts) had a pretty serious spelling mistake in it. And don't try telling me that was intentional. Next time I want to spend a large chunk of my hard earned cash on some furniture - I won't be doing it here.

Went in for the first time today because after reading those last wonderful reviews, I was overcome with morbid curiosity! Poe-faced Concept doesn't fail to disappoint on the arrogance front - although I wasn't given the cold, hard stare I expected from staff, I was largely ignored by them, which suited me fine since I could act like a fly on the wall and be left in peace. I obviously look poor - that's fine guys, it's entirely true! But you can't condemn a girl for dreaming! Since I've been subtly branded a poor working class girl, my cankered fingers had to surrepticiously reach for the price tag...I had to stop my jaw from dropping when I saw it was 150 quid for an EX DISPLAY lamp. Yes, that's right - Ex Display. Bugger off. Even if there ever comes a day when i have money to burn frivolously on items such as these, I doubt I would ever bother. Sure, they looked pretty but seriously, get real. If you were loaded, some trendy items in here may appeal - some of the stock is undeniably beautiful. Unfortunately, this place lacks the innovation and laid back vibe of Habitat, nor does it possess the charm and imaginative quirk of its West End rivals. It announces new arrivals in the window like we should roll out the red carpet for their overpriced (but, got to admit, nice) sofas - there's just something a bit off about this place. By all means go for a browse as they have some lovely stock but interior design competition has sprung up all over the place. So although Bo Concept may have been top dog a few years back, it's going to have to change its stand offish aura before it can attract a wider audience. And as Eleanor said, the richest people are quite often the least likely to flaunt it, so never judge a book by its deceptively dog-eared cover. You'll lose business if you do.

I popped in for a little look around and was very pleasantly surprised. Dwell sells all sorts of home wear from big furniture items like sofas and beds to more decorative items like candles, cushions and art. Everything is very neutral and classic in style and is of excellent quality. Some items in here would make a fantastic base for decorating your home to which you could add little quirky bits and pieces to put your own stamp on the place. I think the prices are actually pretty reasonable in a "you get what you pay for kind of way". Unfortunately I can't afford any of the larger items, but if I could I would definitely invest in a few! I fully intend to go back and purchase a few of the smaller (and cheaper!) items such as a lovely lamp I saw.

The two floor store has all your weird, wonderful and quirky furniture needs for a contemporary home, but everything is so extortionately priced that whenever I go in, it's really just for window shopping. I think I've actually bought about 2 things from here and I've been in about 20. If the shop was slightly more affordable, it would be 5* without a doubt; I absolutely love the place. But it's not, so no 5th star!

I am not really the target market for flouncy shops. I have the fashion sense of an Ice Road Trucker. So why am I writing this? Mainly to tell folks - you can do better. Don't get sucked into the white washed batten boards and mechanically weathered wooden wardrobes - just remember - you can do better. The lovely "antiqued" standard lamp on sale for 250 quid at Laura Ashley is definitely not £230 better than a £20 version from Ikea when it is sitting in your post-modern attempt at Mr Darcy's drawing room. If you want to move up in style then head to John Lewis. Finally, their delivery system is a little weird. We wanted two sofas delivered in a couple months. When the store finally took delivery of them they had to be dropped off at our place immediately. We could not delay delivery. Unfortunately, we also were trying to sort out decorating and remodelling of the new place and were not sure of dates, Laura Ashley were pretty immovable on this and could only offer a selection of dates that may or may not match ours. We left it. Went to John Lewis and found similar style couches, same price, better quality, much better guarantee and very flexible on delivery. We ordered there. Looking back on it - I was trying to remember why we were so in love with the Laura Ashley stuff. Not sure, but I think that the store sucks you into this idea that you can be a character in a Bronte novel. I say leave the flouncy brigade to their romanticism and badly made over-priced furniture.

I had my first run-in with this place roughly ten years ago…read more I always thought it was pretty junky shop, but a quick stumble later over a length of plastic chain they had running through the legs of tables, I ended up owning a really ugly broken lampshade. I handed it back to the shop assistant (worst job title ever in this place) and vowed to never return to this store. My wife returned recently since we were desperate for some new lighting in the new house. She was trying to find out if they could order the items she had found in the catalog and had to listen to the asinine talk between two of the "un"assistants. If you hate yourself, wish to inflict pain on others, have an in-law that you want to punish with a really ugly item of lighting, or have too much time on your hands and want to be ignored by imbeciles. The catalogues in store have a fantastic selection. I bought a range of lights from a basic cheap light for my son's playroom through to crystal chandelier at a four figure sum. I spent several hours in this shop just looking at the catalogues over a few days, before ordering and again, staff were friendly and not pushy. Everyone comments on my lights now.
