Ron L. installed my cage and screen years ago, so when it came to rescreening, they were my first…read morecall. I got some other quotes, but a screen is just a screen, right? Regardless, Ron L.'s professional approach at this stage led me to select them for the job, and I did. They sent an email on Thursday that read, "Great news, we'll be on your job tomorrow." Okay...that works. And then a crew showed up completely unannounced at my home that evening at 6:30 because they were there to measure the job. Umm...didn't the "office" send you the specs? No...that's why we're here. Okay, strike one, and I sent a message to Ron and another company representative, and crickets.... The crew came back on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to do the job. It's a good thing I didn't intend to use my backyard space for what should have been a one-day event (according to Ron L. and every other screening company I spoke with). And then the crew left on Sunday. No notice, no final report, no review with the customer...just drove off. Then I checked out the work and found that they ran the screening from one side of the lanai to the other. Had Ron L. bothered with any quality checks, that may not have happened. But they didn't, so now I had to address it, and I did. The crew made excuses and said that's how they did "rescreens." The same crew came back out the next weekend, fixed the problem that I (not the company) found, and again...drove off with zero notification. Then, 2 weeks later, I received the final invoice. So, of course, I asked the question again. How do I know the work was done to any kind of standard? So far, I have had to address every issue with the company and its crew. Here I go again, and I contacted the company. Only then did someone who said they were the project manager reach out to me directly (first time) to address my concerns. It's at this point that I told the individual (I'll leave your name out of it, but you know who you are) that I was disappointed in the company's ability to communicate to me what was going on. Of course, I again addressed the crew's attempt to shortcut the job, and the response I got was "they're lazy." So here we have a project manager (who doesn't know what it means to manage a project) who is diming out their work crews. They're only lazy because you are an ineffective manager. They offered an apology and only then said they would come out to review the crew's work and thus do their JOB. I offered my comments as constructive feedback and asked if they were willing to offer any additional concessions (other than an apology and acknowledgement that they need to do better). The response I got was that the work was done. Okay, fair point...but I had to do YOUR job and inspect the work. Ron L. has a terrific reputation for building cages, and I will likely use them again if I ever need a new one or a rebuild...but I simply can't trust them to do my screens, especially when they hire out subcontractors and don't follow up on the work. They lied to me and tried to deceive me. I can hope they can figure out how to transition their build expertise into their larger business plan, and remember that the customer (read the one who is paying the bills) should be your primary focus.

I did my due diligence, got 3 quotes and not only were they the least, they offered the tear down at no expense if I went with them. Both other quotes had a 2k charge plus one of them wanted half of the contract price advanced to them upon materials delivery. And maybe that's normal but I wanted my insurance money to sit in the bank until the very last minute. RL Aluminum did a fantastic job and I couldn't have hoped for a nicer company to handle my cage rebuild. I highly recommend them.

Several follow up calls in which I spoke with Suzanne (operations manager) and Whitney (office manager). They don't call you back, they are not honest in their response. Stated delay is with permit office and in follow up with permit office they permits have been ready for weeks, The permit office was nice enough to provide proof of permits being ready. Called them again immediately after this proof was provided and Suzanne lied to me and stated the permit office has not called them nor provided them with the permit's. Suzanne stated she would follow up and call back. Still no call back from her - weeks later. Tried to bypass Suzanne to get to the original sales rep Brad. Suzanne and Whitney do not pass calls to Brad and state he is 'in the field". Due to their lack of action - now we have internal damage to the home. They have the deposit but don't actually complete the work. The office staff are liars and I was raised to never call anyone that but in this case valid with proof, it fits this situation. I see from the other yelp reviews there is consistency in what I am saying. I hope that if you are reading this you do not use them. I never would again, taking advantage of a Senior - getting their money and leaving them without the work being done. Disgraceful. Next stop. Better Business Bureau.

Of course, if a tree falls on the house, then it will be damaged. But the walls, windows, doors, roof can handle winds over 200mph. ICF house with poured 6" concrete walls, metal roof too. The walls are 12' 5" thick including stucco, insulation, poured concrete, drywall, 1"x4" etc.... As seen here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVrpCLWONi2MQG-xCHIOPQXwjTHtXNCeX 1: I contacted 18 builders (emails, phone calls, online forms). 11 got back to me out of 18. I then asked those 11 if they build on an owner's lot in Frostproof. Some said no because they only build in their own developments. This left me 7. I then gave these 7 builders a preliminary blueprint of my house and its location (Frostproof on Woodstork Way). 3 came back with general construction dollars/numbers and they also had suggestions for walls, roof, insulation, windows, garage door via email. The final three were: www.lexxusconstruction.com and www.whitmorebuilders.com and www.stewart-construction.net Now I had it narrowed down to 3 builders. 2: I then spent a few hours researching these 3 companies. I looked many factors, including but not limited to BBB (better business bureau), yelp reviews, google reviews, how many times have they built in Polk County, reputation. 3: I even drove to Bartow and did a face-to-face meeting (glass partition between us because of the Covid 19 virus) with a Polk County Florida building inspector that suggested some questions to ask the builders I am interested in working with. (He did not put them in writing, so I took notes on a note pad. I believe he did not want to show a preference but did help me expand my knowledge on how to find a builder). 4: I followed his and also my friend's advice and picked Stewart Construction, they stood out above the rest. (My best friend is in Minnesota, which is where I am from. He had built two homes before. He built his primary home from a lot like I am going to do, but he also built a rustic cabin, so he has gone through this process twice before finding builders and asking questions of the prospective builder. 5: It also appears that Stewart Construction is one of the largest residential home construction builders in central Florida area. 6: But the biggest was a recommendation from www.foxblocks.comsaying that Stewart Construction has experience with FoxBlocks and has indeed built homes using ICF Blocks from www.FoxBlocks.com. 7: I took 74 videos showing each and every step of the construction process starting at the day of the lot being cleared, all the way up to after I moved in. They did a fantastic job, especially with all the problems with the Virus hitting us and also with all the problems of the economy in 2021. They started early 2021 and ended in December 2021. (74+ videos from 5 different cameras: 3 cams mounted outside that are cellular enabled security cameras, 1 drone and my cell phone). Here are the 74 videos: YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/user/mrsallhomebased/videos 8: They did a fantastic job. High quality work. My biggest suggestion to you is to upgrade all the materials, listen to the construction companies' suggestions. I did and I paid for the top-of-the-line materials to be installed. The main reason is that the labor is going to be nearly the same between the highest quality materials installation and lower quality material installation, so why not just pay a little extra for the highest quality material installed. Upgraded: Including but not limited to a metal roof, insulation of that roof on the roof decking, Cambria Quartz counters, wood flooring, wall and attic insulation, poured concrete walls using: ICF www.foxblocks.com, quality of the ceiling lights and outside lights too, plus upgraded windows, doors, HVAC system and more.
