What a wonderful place. Found this completely by accident but so glad we did.
On vacation in Cornwall with our friends from London, We were doing the group activities with their family until we decided to split off for a day on our own. We come across the Sanctuary.......actually, I don't remember how we came across it but we found it and decided to go.
They offered 1 hour hands on interaction with the owls in addition to admission for 50 pounds. At first I thought this was a little steep but they let the wife and I both participate for this amount. This became a fantastic deal.
The first thing we did was go observe all of the owls in their housing. As with any exhibit, sign on the outside stating what region they're from, what they eat and so on. Never did I realized they were so many different species of owls. I honestly thought there were only two or three.
Next, we met with the handler who instructed us on handling the birds and how to interact with them. Next, she brought us different owls ranging from small barn owls to an enormous, 11 pound Eagle Owl. Truly amazing creatures to observe up close. The young lady who taught us about the animals was really informative and a pleasure to talk with.
In the sanctuary, you're not just limited to owls. Walk around the place and you'll find geese, raccoons, llamas, and cool pair of jack-asses that I had a real fun time hanging around with. Also, a small cafe onsite with decent food and of course, tea.
If you're looking for something to do that really outside the box you should give this place a try. Even if you're not into animals that much I think you'll really be fascinated by these birds. read more
