We only stayed 2 hours as it was hot as hell, there is no shade, most rides/slides were not open, there are no water refilling bottle stations, they did not honor our drink passes or icee passes so we were dehydrated and exhausted from the heat. Pros: the wave pool is cool. Tornado was fun, Big Kahuna was fun. I have Prestige pass so got to park close. Cons: there is no raft lift for the rafts for Tornado. You have to walk a super far distance to the pool and carry a 4 person raft down a long path and up 4 flights of stairs. I was by myself with a 10 year old. I basically dragged the raft down the path and up the stairs. The ride was not busy (when they 1st opened) and the life guard took pity on me and met me down a flight of stairs to help. Typhoon twister and wahoo racer were closed. We rode 1 tube slide each as I did not feel it was worth walking up the stairs to go on the other colors of slides. Rented a locker for $15 and the lockers have hinges that swing them closed so you have to prop something in them to keep it open. The changing area (for women) looks like something out of a horror movie. They say they want you to shower before getting in anything but the showers don't work. The changing stalls have paper thin shower curtains on them that don't close, are ripped or gape. Inside the changing stalls are littered with the hygiene liners from swim suits. So disgusting. The bathroom I used while there was basically the same. Did not go in or on anything other than what is listed above. Would not honor drink passes for regular drinks. Honored my kid's icee pass by just handing them a cup, because they could not figure it out. Had one Icee, drank the water in the bottle we brought and left. Day 2 we went to Six Flags. We have the all season fast pass, so got in, got passes and were off. These rides are on fast pass: 1. Rode Batman. Good ride. 2. Rode Ninja. That was rough. Unless you know how to position your head you will get a headache. 3. Rode River King Mine Train-this is a step above a kiddie coaster. 4. Rode American thunder it was meh. 5.Rode Mr. Freeze and enjoyed it and wanted to ride again but they were not allowing us in with the fast passes so we left. 6. Pandemonium-this says it has fast lane we couldn't find it. It was a short ride and meh. I don't particularly like spinning coasters. 7. Thunder river got soaked which was fine it was hot. 8. Log flume was the saddest log flume ever. It was hard to hold on in the boats and it goes around nothing. Nothing scenic just meandering around water tubes on the ground 9. Screaming Eagle-rode for the nostalgia. 3 generations of my family have rode this ride. It wasn't as rough as we thought it would be. 10. The boss-this was the roughest, most painful wooden roller coaster I have ever ridden. I had bruises all over my legs from being tossed side to side on it. Regret it x a million. 11. Catwoman's whip-best ride of the park. Would have rode a million times but it was higher in the park (walking up hill) it was hot, we had no water, no shade and were too tired to trek up there. Rides that were closed: 12. Justice League-had been looking forward to being out of the sun in the a/c but no joy 13. Spinsanity-we were told it was hit by lightening 14. Shazam (this is a basic scrambler) 15. Sky Screamer 16. Supergirl Sky Flyer Rides we skipped cause it was hot, we don't like that ride style or something similar in our home park: 17. Boomerang (neither of us like this style of ride) The Boomerang we rode at SFDK was ROUGH so we don't want to ride any of these 18. Fireball-this honestly looks like a fair ride. No one was on it 19. Colossus (ferris wheel) 20. The Buccaneer 21. The Joker: Carnival of Chaos We spent about 3-4 hours here and ultimately left because it was hot, lack of shade, only one refillable water bottle station and since 25% of the rides were closed and 4 we had no interest in. Up close parking was amazing. Loved that. I will not be returning to this park as it is now managed by Enchanted and the only reason I visited this year was because it was the last year I could with my SF pass. I remember enjoying coming here as a kid and am not sure if it is just the fact that I grew up, time or life experience that took some of the magic this place once held for me. I don't regret coming but it wasn't the fun experience I had in mind. Also issues with using our drink pass, hardly any where had icees, the one place that did honored the pass but it was the only one we got.

They have a twilight summer deal where tickets are around $35/person and $20 for basic parking. Parking wasn't an issue because there was practically no one there and we were so close. There is a security check point now. Sad. We got in right away and rode the Batman -- used to be a favorite but all got off and had a headache. Mr Freeze changed back in 2013 where you start in reverse now so you can see yourselves go up that drop and fall. Our lives flashed before our eyes for sure. With no break in between rides I lost my equilibrium and had to sit out for American thunder and the boss. Nothing sold but sugar drinks. We found Powerade at a stand for $5, no lids, no straws. Nothing but sugar and made my headache even worse. The place was bought out by enchanted parks. I've heard mixed things but apparently they will be making changes or adding new rides next year? We shall see!

More on that later…read more As of last count, there are 7 of these Gerstlauer spinning coaster installments across the USA, and they're all identical. The only differences are the name/theming and location within the amusement park (for example, SFOT and SFSL have theirs on Tarmac in the middle of the park [yawn], while SFFT's has theirs at the far end on a nice grassy area). Each ride is approximately 50ft high and only gets up to 30mph, but the fun factor comes from the spinning craziness. As soon as the individual 4-person cars disengage from the lift, they begin rotating freely. In accordance with the laws of physics, the more weight per car, the greater the momentum. The trick is to load all of the weight on one side of the car, in order to force rotation in that direction. Basically, the more unbalanced the car is, the more plentiful the spinning will be. So round up a couple fat friends and hop on any one of Six Flags' Pandemonium's! Was formerly known as 'Tony Hawk's Big Spin'.

As your 6-person vehicle meanders along a powered track, you're tasked to fight against Lex Luthor, the Joker, and a myriad of henchmen on 8 different 3D screens. It's fun and the thrills are mild enough to appeal to children. There's a very cool animatronic of Cyborg in the queue line and some other spiffy features during the course of the ride. However, some of the special FX didn't trigger properly or at all, and one of the laser guns in my ride vehicle was taped down, indicating that it was inoperable. For a new-for-2015 ride, I was a little disappointed that not everything worked to the fullest extent. Whereas the Texas version received 10 ride vehicles, Missouri only got 7. This was due to the space the former attraction sat on; the result is a lower rider capacity per hour. Since it was the newest (and likely most popular) attraction during my visit, the wait was just over 60 minutes. Also, for those of you reading, Illinois' SFGAm is getting one of these rides in 2016!

American Thunder at Mid-America Theme Park is an absolute THRILL RIDE!…read more I absolutely love this coaster! It's a high-speed wooden roller coaster that feels like it barely lets you breathe from the very first drop until you pull back into the station. The twists, turns, drops, and speed just keep coming! We rode it during Fright Fest, which made it even better. Every time we dropped, we went straight into a huge plume of fog, so you couldn't even see what was coming next. It added a whole extra level of excitement (and maybe a little panic ). Between the darkness, the fog, the speed, and those unexpected twists and turns, I was screaming the entire time! And I'm not going to lie... I almost pooped my pants from the excitement -- and possibly also from the Wally's hot dog I had right before we got on. If you love fast, wild, old-school wooden coasters with nonstop thrills, American Thunder is definitely worth riding. Just maybe give yourself a little time to digest that hot dog first.

It's a smaller wooden coaster, so I think it's perfect if you're being introduced to roller coasters for the first time or you're not quite ready for the bigger, more intense rides. That said, there is one thing to know: this coaster definitely jostles you around! When my daughter was younger, I used to ride with my arm behind her head because otherwise her head would bang around and she'd end up with a headache. So while it's a great beginner coaster, it isn't necessarily the smoothest ride. Still, kids seem to love this ride no matter how old or young they are. I remember one Christmas Eve when we went to Six Flags and there was hardly anyone there. We ended up riding the Mine Train 13 times in a row! Needless to say, we got our money's worth that night. The Mine Train has definitely become a family favorite for us, and our friends and extended family love it too. It's one of those rides that brings back a lot of memories and is still fun every time we visit.

Ninja is…read moreadvertised as 'the black belt of roller coasters', which is 100% fitting because riding this is like having a black belt karate chop you in the shoulders....and then straight punch you in the groin. Vekoma is known for their painful coasters that only worsen with time, and Ninja is no exception. As you navigate the 4 inversions and a helix, you'll be subjected to several instances of head-banging lateral G's that'll quickly answer your question as to why there's absolutely NO wait for this ride. ~Special ride elements~ *Loop *Sidewinder *Double corkscrew ....however there is 1 feature of this particular ride that's terrifying (apart from the roughness). After exiting the sidewinder element, the train travels underneath the lift hill structure. Normally this wouldn't be noteworthy, except that under the lift is the chain return which comes within THREE FEET above the passing train. It looks the same from any row: like you're about to be totally decapitated. Of course you're never actually in harms way, but it's all about perception. The effect is at once cool and scary but doesn't negatively impact this ride's 2* rating. That's purely a result of the extremely uncomfortable over-the-shoulder restraints and abrupt jarring motions. Essentially, Ninja is about as enjoyable as a roundhouse kick to the head.

Virtually identical to the Six Flags Over Texas version (apart from being a mirror image), this Intamin launch coaster delivers an insane amount of thrills in a relatively small space. The trains were flipped around in 2012 to provide guests with the sensation of a backwards acceleration, and it's a tremendously cool feeling (heehee). The trains truly scream around the track--you can hear this coaster's roar all throughout the park! Like the one at SFOT, this ride utilizes a dual loading station for a faster boarding process. Since this is a shuttle coaster (meaning only 1 train can be on the track at a time), station operators load & unload one train of guests while the other completes its circuit. There were several occasions when the returning train matched up with the loaded/ready train so both switchtracks moved simultaneously! That timing was awesome to see. ~Special ride elements~ *0-70mph in 3.8 seconds *Inside 'top hat' [an inversion] *218 foot tall 'spike' with LIM boosters Mr. Freeze also gets huge plus points for using a comfortable individual lapbar in lieu of a OTSR (over the shoulder restraint, which always suck). You'll be subjected to up to 4 g's during the launch and weightlessness at the apex of the 'spike', as well as some enjoyable hangtime at the crest of the top hat element. It's also the tallest and fastest coaster at Missouri's Six Flags. A most chilling experience.

Then, the fact that they demand you turn off your headlights and only go to running lights when the driving trail isn't well lit and there's serious inclines and declines is bothersome. Parking for Santa's toy shop and snacks is a gravel pit and very tight so it's best to get in and get out. There is no Santa on hand for kids to talk to or take pictures with, as he's in a small outhouse-like shanty near the end of the run. There is a mail box on the right side of the road to drop off your kid's letter to Santa in. But beware, you're not getting out without paying the toll of $35 per car, or $50 per limo/bus/trailer vehicle. Very underwhelming and rather disappointing. Also, lots of flashing lights that will impact your kids or adults with light sensitivity issues......with no warning signs.
