When I first met with Joe, he was very personable and gave good advice/suggestions! Sometimes, we think we know what we want, but when it gets close to getting done...not so much! Do It All Contracting had reasonable rates/pricing; e.g. another contractor was going to charge $20.00 more per hour for the electrical work. I had a lot of criteria for my new door to meet - good quality, aesthetically pleasing, mid-century/contemporary design, affordable. HERR was the obvious choice after exhausting the list of local suppliers. Randy was great to work with and provided many options to suit my needs at various price points to be sure I got exactly what I wanted. The level of service was exceptional and something I did not find anywhere else. Other businesses seemed to cater more towards contractors and big business, not willing to take the time to explain products or procedures to a home owner. I felt confident and at ease with my purchase after visiting the HERR showroom. Picking out a new front door was the fun part, but Randy and is crew also did an impeccable job on the installation. Having been built in the 50's the original door was not a normal size in any dimension by modern standards. We opted to replace the door and jamb with a standard size (though custom sizing was available) and I was nervous about how the new smaller door might look/function. Randy and his crew did such a great job with the new jamb and trim that you would never know that the door size had been changed. The crew was polite and kept the job site very tidy. They spent extra time ensuring that everything was installed to perfection...no rush jobs here. From start to finish this company was a pleasure to work with! This was the only shop in the city that I could find had the parts in stock and at a much better price than other plumbing shops were quoting me to order it in. At that time Lyle also thoroughly explained my options to ensure the unit was kept in good working order by cleaning it and I decided to have him do the work. Lyle and his apprentice showed up exactly when promised to remove the steamer, which took a little more work than anticipated, because of the way the previous owners had installed it. It also took extra work/time to reinstall it because of that, but Lyle stuck to the price originally quoted and only charged me a small amount for a part which was needed for the reinstallation. He is very knowledgeable & experienced. His wife Brenda was also very pleasant to deal with at the shop. Great local business!

I'd give 1.5 stars if possible…read more I contacted Lyle at Bathrooms Unlimited to have him give me a quote for a major plumbing repair in a basement bathroom. He came by and was friendly, very talkative, and seemed to know his stuff. He's accredited with BBB and has been in business a very long time, and it showed. He seemed to have thought through every possible aspect of the job and explained in detail what his thoughts were, when he'd be available, how many guys he'd have working with him, etc. I picked up the quote from him at his store a few days later as well as a list of references - references that he let me choose from an address book filled with previous customers, another good sign. He explained the quote, had it broken down into an itemized list, and showed me around his store. I went home and spoke to many of his past customers and they all said much the same thing: Lyle was more expensive than most, but did an outstanding job and they wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. Just under a week from the time I picked up the quote, after I'd had a chance to compare quotes and consider my options, I called Lyle to tell him that I'd like to hire him for the job. And that's when things went downhill. I don't know if he'd decided he didn't want the job and was trying to brush me off or if he was just having a really bad day, but his demeanour was completely different. He was very short on the phone, borderline rude. He told me that he now wouldn't be able to start my job for at least 2 full months later than he'd said and that if I wanted him we'd have to sign a contract right away and he demanded 50% of the project cost immediately. When I explained that most websites urge people not to give more than 10% or $1000 as a deposit so as not to get ripped off and that I'd be willing to give him 10% now and the remaining 40% when the job began, he said it didn't matter, that's how he does things, then told me to use someone else. So I will. I wouldn't trust someone whose personality is so volatile.
