Chis had taken me on as someone who was a nervous inexperienced driver back in late February 2024 and had me driving around (through even heavy traffic and multilane roundabouts!) in no time. He's very patient and explains things really clearly. He's very calm and professional, and has always made me feel safe while I learn. He's very encouraging, and never made me feel silly or embarassed, which has hugely boosted my confidence. Currently practising mock tests, and I'm feeling really great about it. When it comes to driving lessons, you get what you pay for, and I confidently say, you'll get some fantastic lessons here with them. They really do care. Thanks so much for everything so far A2B and I'll see you soon for my next lessons!

Thanks Chris and the rest of the team

I once auditioned here before deciding on going to Dartington, I was a fresh faced 18 year old, excited about meeting new people and learning from great teachers, the one thing negative I do have to say about the Old Vic is that they seem to lach onto the nervous excitement and awe that young hopefulls have, they then seem to futher press thier eletism on you during your audition, making you feel a little like it's your privaledge to have travelled 2hours, paid £40 and sweated it out in the waiting room to just have 10 minutes with 2 tutors who will then assess if your worthy to have another audtions. Besides all this you can't deny the schools greatness, and if you did choose this as a point of study then you will not be dissapointed.

The building, tucked away up near the downs in Clifton is unassuming, like another grand Victorian residence. Inside, studios, glass walls and practice rooms bely its theatrical purpose. Short courses, youth courses as well as degrees and post-grad study. You'll compete with the best to attend and you'll have to have plenty of dosh for the fees, but for those serious about performing, this is right up there with RADA for prestige.

The children are taught Ballet, Tap and Modern, it not only teaches them to dance, it teaches them discipline, and self confidence. There is no waiting list for this class and no children clambering to join. We had previously discussed it with the teacher who then denied all knowledge of any conversation. They have sent letters that threaten bailiffs and have quite interesting beliefs that basically imply that they expect parents to decide for their children and make them go for a full term even after you have given notice, either that or they just want your money?!? It works like this. If you decide (not your child- heaven forbid they might have their own opinion) on the second session that your child is not going to carry on then you have to pay until the end of the term. Nothing wrong with that but you also have to pay for the next term too in full as you didn't tell them on the first day of the term. Therefore you either give them the money for the next term and write it off or you 'make' your child complete the full next term in the knowledge that they don't want to be there and probably that the school don't want them there as they clearly do not want to be world famous dancers and have snubbed the Bristol School of Dancing! Be very aware of this school. Obviously this is just my humble opinion.

Have a look through the listings to see if anything takes your fancy. There's some quite challenging stuff on, with some of the installations making absolutely no sense at all if you ask me. The gallery is free and definitely worth dropping in to if you're in the city centre looking for something to do. It changes frequently so I can't vouch for the quality of the art though there is a good video exhibition on right now. Similarly, their film showings are varied - they don't just show the latest releases - and you have to keep an eye out for something that interests you. The Arnolfini brings a little bit of culture to Bristol and seeing as it's free I'm definitely a fan.

The entire gallery has three floors, and each is usually occupied with an exhibition. I've found that most times, there is one main exhibition that runs through the whole gallery, with maybe only one or two separate ones in smaller rooms. This place provides quite a hit and miss experience, of course depending on what you personally enjoy in art. I would say half the times that I've been here, I've enjoyed what the Arnolfini has to offer, and often leave quite inspired. However the other half of the time, I walk in and the whole space is taken up by children's activities, to try and engage them more in the exhibition that's on. This is great for the kids but creates quite a confusing atmosphere for the adults that walk in and expect to see more art, and instead see about 50 children in what looks like a giant activities room. The best thing to do before coming here is to check on their website for more information of the exhibitions, and you can come for the ones that tick your fancy, and avoid others that don't.

Not that I was particularly hard to convince as this place has an amazing spa area and swimming pool, as well as all the usual gym suspects. You really do get what you pay for with gyms and although this place is eye-wateringly expensive, you do get an easier gym experience - think personal greetings, complimentary towels and regular free health check-ups such as BMI and cholesterol levels. Get a job man! Chip on my shoulder, me? Never... But it does have the perfect mix of cardio machines (for girls) and weights (for boys) and an extremely good number of both. They also have a pool, which is really nice for a gym in the centre of town as this one is. They do evening classes that come free as part of your membership, although I haven't done one yet. You can also buy a day pass if you are not in town for long and looking for a gym to use. They have Sky Sports so you can watch the football at the weekends while you pretend to be exercising. The only bad things about this gym are the price (for us normal people, i.e. not students) and how busy it gets in rush hour (after work). You might even say it is almost over subscribed, as often there are no lockers available and no treadmills to use. it's a real shame they've done this as I know it does anger a lot of members.
