If I could give WGF another half star, I would. The produce is beautiful and perfect and…read moredelicious. But oh, the prices! As far as I know, it is not certified organic, but the prices are higher than organic at stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. A very small cabbage was over $4. A bunch of radishes was $5.50. A 10-oz tomato was $3.99. The prepared foods are equally pricy, and vary widely in quality. A small tub of their "schmear", a mix of dairy and scallions that I add to potato salad dressing (it works well) is $8.50. A very small (for 2) peach galette was $8.95, but delicious and perfectly baked. A berry scone ($4.50) was a heavy lump of underbaked dough, a huge difference from the light, flaky, golden scones I get from Dagmar's in Old Saybrook. A ginger-pecan scone was better. A raspberry thumbprint "cookie" fell into pieces when I placed it in my pastry box ($4.95) -- it tasted good, but the texture was more like a lump of cold oatmeal. A single slice of house pizza ($7) made me sad -- the concept was good, but the broccoli was burnt and chewy. Most of their baked goods are too heavy and underbaked. The staff is friendly, warm, and welcoming, as well they ought to be. The parking is hideous -- cramped and inadequate, with no handicapped that I could see. The actual farmstand building is small, hot, and crowded at peak times. To sum up: I think most people assume the produce is organic, but there are no signs to that effect. The refrigerated prepared foods are generally tasty. The baked goods are a crapshoot, and at the prices, it's not worth the risk of their not being worth the money.

We have visited this farm for organic produce previously and were very happy with the quality and…read moreselection. Recently we attended a flower arranging class and had a wonderful time. We were able to cut our own flowers fresh and they also had some already cut for us. They described options for greenery, how to cut certain flowers and just let us loose to pick and start arranging. We also had delicious morning glory muffins and coffee while we worked. We appreciated that assistance was available as needed but the class was not too instructional. Overall it was a really fun experience. Hopefully I'll be in town at a time we can take advantage of a farm dinner. Loved learning about the many options for outings at this beautiful farm for activities and appreciated they have opened up the property for activities.

A perfect small‑town market with big heart…read more The Stonington Village Farmers Market is one of those places that instantly makes you feel lucky to live nearby. Every visit is a reminder of how vibrant and talented our local community is. The market may be modest in size, but the quality, variety, and friendliness are absolutely top‑tier. The vendors consistently bring fresh, seasonal produce that tastes like it was picked that morning--crisp greens, gorgeous tomatoes, berries bursting with flavor, and so much more depending on the time of year. You can truly taste the difference. Beyond produce, the market is full of local makers, bakers, and growers offering everything from fresh bread and pastries to artisanal cheeses, honey, jams, and handcrafted goods. There's always something new to discover, and everything feels thoughtfully curated. The atmosphere is one of the best parts: warm, welcoming, and community‑driven. Vendors are happy to chat, share tips, or tell you the story behind what they grow or make. It's the kind of market where you run into neighbors, linger a little longer than planned, and leave with both great food and a great mood. Whether you're stocking up for the week or just enjoying a Saturday morning stroll, the Stonington Village Farmers Market is a true local treasure. Fresh, friendly, and full of character--highly recommended. Cheers

I'm all for keeping business local. I love community based/supported agriculture groups, co-ops,…read morefarmers markets, and the like. While trying to find more of these among the community of new london, I found Pizello Brothers. Easily accessible from one of new london's most well traveled roadways, this market is the place to shop if you need a large scale of grocery items, or are open to a changing selection of many great things. The parking is in a loding dock area, and the steps take you up to the retail store. Many of the local businesses and restaurants source their grocery and supplies from here, and whatever is left over is sold at market cost which I have found is routinely cheaper than anywhere else. The perimeter of the store is cold storage, with a really great selection of olives, cheeses and fruits, along with premade meals and sides. I compare this to a small scale Costco of sorts, they have many things but it's usually not portioned for an individual or a couple. The middle has dry goods, potatoes, onions, spices, and cleaning supplies, along with many goya brand products. The front counter has more spices, a place to freshly grind hard cheeses, and an area for marked down produce, canned goods, and specials. I have always been pleased with the quality, service, and prompt response of staff to questions. I would love to see them carry some more milk alternatives and meats, but I know that's not really the scale they're catering to. Wonderful location, excellent prices, and quality products make this grocer a must have stop on my weekly shopping route.
