My Kid's Dentist & Orthodontics

We have been coming to this dental group for roughly over six years. I had an appointment for my…read moresix year old son for his 6 month check up at 2:45. We weren't taken back until 3:00. We had x-rays taken, then we were taken to the back room. The dental assistant was great and did well with my son. The new dentist who I was meeting for the first time, Dr. Vy Tran entered the room. Dr. Tran did not introduce herself and immediately asked my son "who's those people?" and pointed at me and husband. My son said "that's my mom and dad" and Dr. Tran said "should we make them leave?" My son said "no". She said "are you sure we shouldn't make them leave"? As I was looking at my son's face he was very uncomfortable and she was very persistent on making us leave the room, we did not. She asked me if I had any questions, I asked about a previous injury to my son's front tooth and she was sarcastic and rude with her answer's. She started feeling around in his mouth and he told her that she was hurting him and she dismissed his feelings and she said he's not in pain as she put both of her fingers into his mouth and started pushing in his mouth. She told us that my son had a small cavity in the back left side and told me he needed a filling. She told us that the only way she can work on my son is to put him to sleep, I asked is there any other way instead of putting him to sleep, as I did not agree with that and I stated that my other child had a filling procedure with the dentist before her and was not put to sleep. She was very persistent and pushy on wanting to my six year old to be put to sleep. She told me that if I wasn't going agree on the way she does things, she stated that I can go somewhere else. So I told my son to get up and we left the back room. I talked to the front receptionist and expressed my feeling and my experience with her and they told me that she is their new dentist and I told them I will not be coming back and will have to find a new dentist. I have never had a bad experience with this dental office. I'm very offended and disgusted with the way Dr. Tran talked to me and how she treated my son. My son does very well with the dentist and has never had any issues. She made him very uncomfortable and now he is not happy going to the dentist, she has ruined that experience for him. I would be cautious of this Dr/Dentist wanting to be alone with your children. it's weird and unprofessional!

I had an outstanding experience at Aspen Dental in Ogden. From the moment I walked in, the team was…read morewelcoming, professional, and genuinely kind. The service was impeccable -- organized, efficient, and handled with real attention to detail. The staff took the time to explain everything clearly, made sure I was comfortable, and treated me with respect the entire visit. You can tell this office values both professionalism and patient care. It's not just about dentistry here -- it's about creating a positive experience. If you're looking for a dental office in Ogden with extremely friendly staff and top-tier service, this is the place. Highly recommend.

I sit in the chair the dentist comes in removes my dentures and proceeds to tell me how inferior and sub par they are and look terrible. This man wants me to have a conversation with him about my feelings on the set I have, my likes and dislikes. (Keep in mind I have not removed my dentures in front of anyone including my husband in more than 7 years. I sleep with them and only remove them to clean) I am not comfortable speaking without them let alone have a full blown conversation. This man sits me down, puts me in the most vulnerable position, tears me down, tells me I need tens of thousands of dollars in work that I didn't ask for... and THEN asks me why I seem anxious??? Like what? After all was said and done they refused to reline my current set as I requested for less than $700+ unless I agreed to their recommended treatment. This was the most humiliating and traumatic experience I have ever had with a dentist. I left in tears feeling hopeless, defeated and now self conscious. I would highly recommend you finding a different dentist to help you!

I don't take a 1 star review lightly. But though the dental care was fabulous, we have been…read morecompletely stunned by an instance that leaves us warning everyone we meet never to do business with this office. We have never been treated so badly by a medical office (although they are very nice people in person, and probably good people overall, they are careless and clueless as to how their business practices affect their clients.) We tried to pay our $1800 bill with a medical FSA card, money we put away for medical expenses. But these cards can take time to process due to needed receipts required from past transactions. I kept the office updated on the status of this and they said they would work with us. These weren't payment arrangements, we had the money to pay. Every medical professional we work with understands how these work and provided the payment is scheduled, they work with us since we aren't just degenerates dodging our medical bills. The office apparently got sick of waiting and sent us to collections. They use an extremely aggressive collection agency, Bonneville Collections, who treat people terribly. They used the contracts we had signed to exploit their legal right to charge us huge amounts of money and actually sued us and obtained a judgement for $3800. I called Dr Hess' office and asked to pay them directly and they declined, knowing what the collection company was doing. I explained the damage this was causing and they simply did not care. (Companies will say it is out of their hands because they don't want to be bothered with retracting an account from their collection agency.) This was a huge hit for our credit, our finances and our confidence in how some people choose to do business. Please, if you choose to do business here, consider following the advice that a lawyer I spoke with gave to me. You do not have to sign the agreements saying you will pay fees up to 40% of the bill in case of collection. Change it to something fair like 18%. (And you do not have to sign the arbitration clause. These clauses are not in your best interest.) A collection agency-happy company like this one who uses the most ruthless agency can totally mess up your credit just because they legally can...because we sign things thinking we have to. Even when you have the money to pay. I don't know about you, but when I walk into an appointment and hear "your insurance has been processed for the last several appointments and you owe $1800 now", I want to work with someone who won't offload me to collections just because I need to free up my medical card. Could I have helped this situation? I'm sure there are things I could have done to make the process a bit quicker. But, let's recognize that medical billing and insurance, in general, is a paperwork nightmare already and that there is a big difference between people who won't pay and people who are trying. Why be litigious and heartless about it? It really does make all the difference.
