The office was clean and nice however, I went to him with a torn meniscus. After looking at the MRI he immediately suggested surgery. I booked the surgery then had second thoughts about it so I cancelled. I asked if I should wear a knee brace in the mean time. Dr. Haig said "No it's already torn it won't do any good" I went for a second opinion and the second doctor, who looked at the same MRI, gave me a knee brace and prescribed PT for 6 weeks. The PT has been great it has been at least 6 months since the time I was going to have the surgery and my knee is so much better! Perhaps in the future I may need surgery but I feel surgery should have been a last resort not a first! I was very disappointed in this care I got! read more

Seemingly a good doctor, but a terrible staff. I had an appointment with Dr. Haig - I'll just skip to him for the time being - and the one time I saw him, I thought he was professional, knowledgeable, and I was comfortable enough that I intended to follow up w/ a procedure I needed to have done (torn rotator cuff). Well I never had the procedure with him and never will at this point as my past bit of patience with his staff is at an end. From the first appointment, staff in the front were curt and not overly welcoming. The one I dealt with seemed easily frazzled and not friendly or concerned with any issues I had. Just a poor employee overall. Since then, even getting them on the phone is a chore. At times, it appears the office makes up its own hours or at least forwards the calls to a call center. The few times I was actually able to get through, there was rudeness and they didn't seem to care one way or the other to help resolve any issue that was to be had. A few of those times I was disconnected and calling back and trying to get someone to pick up again was a hassle in itself. And I did always call during advertised business hours, but more than half the time the calls were forwarded to a call center who just told me to call them back. I guess they just can't manage a simple thing like the phones. I get it - you're busy, work in a medical office....etc. Well I'm in the medical field and work in a VERY busy hospital - and I don't talk or act in a nasty way with patients. As busy as it does get for me - and it does - , I ALWAYS go out of my way to resolve any issues a patient - or even non-patients mind you - may have. There is simply no excuse that Dr. Haig's staff might come up with that could or would absolve them for their behavior. For the few (based off the other reviews) that the staff decided to be nice to and help, lucky you. I guess I wasn't as lucky. As much as I wanted to continue under Dr. Haig's care, his staff has made it impossible. I refuse to deal with them when there is so much better out there. Again, Dr.Haig seemed like a good doctor - he just needs to replace his staff, because his practice deserves better than what he has representing him for the time being. It's because of his staff, that I intend to never return. I would imagine I'm not the only one. There's better out there. read more

I have always known of Dr. Haig as I worked for another physician that always referred her patients to him. I had the opportunity to meet him while accompanying my mother to the doctor. Yes, the front desk staff can talk a little quieter especially when discussing personal business and Yes, the wait time is a little crazy BUT Dr. Haig makes the wait totally worth it. He is professional, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor (believe it or not, something that can help when you're in pain). I will definitely recommend him but I will also advise to bring something to read or do while you wait. You will leave his office pleased and the excessive chatter and long wait will all be a blur. read more

Awful doctor. He came highly recommended as his office was very busy. I waited easily over an hour. I was there because I broke left shoulder and had several bruises thru out body) and I ran out of the 10 percosets the ER gave me. I was in excruciating pain. He refused to give pain meds and said to take ibuprofen 600mg. No thank you. Never again will I go back to or recommend this idiot. read more

Amazing Doctor, great sense of humor, and personable. Just by examining me he suspected that I had a rotator cuff tear, so doing physical therapy and injections would not be beneficial. I went for the MRI and sure enough, it was confirmed I had a FULL THICKNESS TEAR! This man was able to get me onto his surgical schedule within two weeks and my shoulder is like new now. It's been 8 months and I cannot believe how well it's healed, it's pain free and better than before. My wife also had a carpal tunnel release done by him two months ago and all pain she previously had in her hand has subsided. She's very pleased with him as well. I now recommended him to all my friends/colleagues. Come see him, you will not regret it! read more

My wife was nervous about her surgery and she asked for me to speak to Dr. Haig. I called the number and left a message with his answering service asking for a call back. No call back and no voicemail. She had the procedure, and my wife really wanted me to speak to Dr. Haig after so I could hear how it went. They don't allow visitors in the hospital so I have to wait outside. My phone never rang but went straight to voicemail. He left a short message. I called back and it goes straight to voicemail at the hospital. I call Post Anesthesia and spoke to the nurse. I politely asked that if she saw Dr. Haig to ask him to call me back. No big deal. Well he calls back, again it goes to voicemail without ringing. I know my phone is set properly. Maybe it's the cell service in town? You can hear the annoyance in his voice, he's had to call Twice!! He says there's really no need for us to speak, as he's already told my wife everything that she needs to know. Keep in mind she's still recovering from general anesthesia. Dr. Haig may or may not be a good surgeon but he gets a Zero in my book for bedside manner and communication skills. read more

I am reviewing Dr. Scott Haig based solely on my personal experience with his entire staff, as well as the doctor himself. Dr. Haig is a wonderful, and highly experienced surgeon. Not only is he kind and considerate, but he takes the time to explain what is needed in order to correct your problem. His staff has always been professional with me, and they are extremely nice. In addition, all of the physical therapist are not only highly trained, but they are warm and caring. Despite what other reviewer's have written, his office is not dirty in the least bit. I have witnessed the staff cleaning on multiple occasions. The doctor's expertise is unparalleled, and I highly recommend his office for all of your orthopedic needs. read more

Pro: Dr Haig came highly recommended Con: Rude staff- Very ignorant and disrespectful people! Appointment wait times were always 1 hour past the time your appointment is for Dr Haig is only interested in doing surgery on you or making you come back every week only to collect your co-pay and give one sentence on how to proceed with your injury I will never go back to him. The last time I was there he didn't examine me and was very condescending...spends less than 5 mins with you and then walks out on you. Please do yourself a favor and find another orthopedic doctor. I was stunned into silence over my first and likely last visit to this office today. I was referred to this physician by my primary care Dr., no doubt routinely because I sustained a small hand fracture a few days ago which requires follow up. When I arrived I did need to fill out lots of paperwork. I should have been invited to arrive earlier however to complete them as I was completely put off by some particularly mean comments from one particular staff person who ran a nearly continuous commentary in the back office, just behind the reception desk a few feet from where I was sitting. Her comments ranged from "well, she's new, I have no chart made up for her so she's just going to have to wait" to "what insurance do you have?" twice, without calling me to the window; to me (loudly) "do you have a referral, are you SURE your insurance doesn't require a referral?" then telling someone else in the back "tell her to come in and sit inside to wait," and finally saying woodenly "you can come in now, thanks for waiting." I took a fall, had a visible cast on my hand (done previously at an emergi-med center) and reported in writing and verbally to the Dr that left my finger, side, hip, and back were pretty sore. My hand was examined in his office (not exam room), my x-rays were viewed, I was asked to walk across the room, my hand was redressed, I was given a; Dr's note from work, and I was told to "come back and see him" next Monday. Oh, forgot to add: I was asked by the Dr. If I had "punched" a wall because the injury I presented is usually caused as such. How revolting! I am credentialed by the State of New York to prevent people from harming themselves and others from "punching walls" - for any reason; I am a grandmother, a Sunday school teacher, Patient's rights advocate, a patient, and a gentle human being. I paid my co-pay and left the office with this doctor's note. No one from the office confirmed my appointment for next week before I left. My gut tells me this office would rather I NOT contact them to ask for a follow up appointment. I am willing to bet they won't call me, either. I think when I left nearly as silently as I arrived, they were all still perplexed by my visit. I did speak with another patient in their waiting prior to being seen who was lovely enough to inquiry about my injury. After sharing our stories and revealing I was completing my BS is Health Care Advocacy at NYU, I told her I would be hard pressed to make a professional referral to this office because of my experience. The case study options for this incident are endless. The other patients optimistically told me there were new and older people in the office, but the Dr. was really nice. He was polite, truly but I don't he was the least bit interested in ever treating me again. And that is sad. read more
