We gave him 16 thousand dollars up front at their assistance to get Medicaid disability for PPP program for my disabled sister. they have not done nothing in over one and half years. Countless phone calls and promises by staff who all left because of his fraudulence to no avail. I'm not the only victim. I received information from another elder care attorney that there are many people he did the same thing to. This guy doing this to people in need is the lowest of low. read more

In April 2024, my brother and I made an appointment with Scott Counsel at the suggestion of an Assisted Living facility. Our Dad had never been ill, but began a number of illnesses that no longer allowed him to remain in his home. We visited Senior AssistEd Living Homes and felt instead of dealing with his admittance to a home, selling his vehicle and home, dealing with application for possible veteran benefits, etc. we would seek an attorney's assistance. We met with who I would call the paralegal, went over the many different particulars regarding Dad and prior to leaving, we signed a Contract. The cost quoted was $16,000. The only funds available for a deposit at the time was $6,000. Thank goodness!! We terminated their contract prior to services being rendered and after a phone conversation and three letters, have NOT RECEIVED ANY AMOUNT OF REFUND! On that day, the paralegal agreed to forward two letters to credit card companies with the Power of Attorney I had (which they had not prepared). This was a Friday afternoon. I left knowing on Monday I would have to transfer appropriate funds. On that same day we had also decided on an Assisted Living facility to place Dad. After conversations over the weekend with my brother and my husband, we decided we would handle this whole process on our own. Basically, my husband and I had previously done so with my father-in-law, but it had been some years prior. I had emailed the Senior Living Home contract to them for review before I had to sign that Wed. At the same time, I received an email from the paralegal that said she had a family matter and would not be in for a week. She advised me who to email in the interim for assistance. I did get advice on the Senior Living contract, received clarification and signed it. I then prepared a letter releasing them of services. Upon receiving it the following Monday, I received a call from the paralegal informing me how disappointed she was with our decision. I advised her that we had been a bit overwhelmed when we met with her over all the decisions we had to make but that we were confident we would be fine. As well, the funds would be necessary for his care. A week later, Justin Scott contacted me by phone to be sure there was nothing the firm had done wrong. I assured him they were fine. I informed him that I reviewed his firm's contract, and there was nothing that they had performed for us that would negate him refunding our deposit. I'd suggested that he bill hourly rate for letters sent and for 2 hrs of paralegal time, even though one hour was free consult, and for the review of the Senior Living Home contract. He said he would look over the file. NO WORD from him for 2 wks. I wrote a letter detailing our conversation. NO RESPONSE! Sent another letter indicating the breakdown of his contract and that nothing was performed for him not to refund our deposit. NO RESPONSE! Sent a third letter. NO RESPONSE! If this is the way he does business, SENIORS BEWARE! I AM going to inform the Senior Living Home that referred him, NOT to use his firm. I will also be spreading the word at Dad's current Senior Living Home. As well, I'll be filing in Small Claims Court. It may be a pain to do so, but it's the point that Scott Counsel claim to assist seniors, but instead they take from them while not performing any services. As far as update on our Dad, he is now in Independent Senior Living, car sold, house sold, veterans forms filed and his medical care has been kept up with in order that he has the proper care necessary. I guess my first review was taken down. Caveat Emptor. I will never use them again. They offered me a fee refund of $4,500 after I explained my incredible dissatisfaction with their untimely services. I agreed to the refund payable to the estate. Now I received 5-6 phone calls stating that Justin wants to speak with me followed by an email from him that states that no refund will be given until I speak with him. This is unethical at best. He further stated that my "attorney friend" can be on the call. I can't even fully grieve or plan this funeral properly because of this aggravation. Justin - your account of my situation is a little different from mine but nonetheless I will take the refund and head for the hills. My brothers and I signed up in January 2020 to get help for our invalid mother's care in an assisted living facility or a nursing home. We signed a contract, and had some early contact with the social worker Scott Counsel had available for us, both of my brothers meeting her in person on the same day my brothers signed the contract, and then soon thereafter phone calls stopped being returned, whether they were to Justin Scott, the owner of Scott Counsel or to the social worker. The social worker informed us she found it impossible to receive phone calls from all three brothers, wanting only one person to telephone her. Although one brother volunteered to be the spokesperson for the family at the social worker's request, other issues later came up when my brother was not available to serve as the spokesperson, and yet whatever phone calls the other brothers made to the social worker, they were not returned. When I telephoned Justin Scott to complain of the non-responsiveness of the social worker, Justin Scott was not available, though he once telephoned me with his cell phone while I wasn't at home, and though I tried to call him back, he never returned my call. One of my brothers received an email update as to the "progress" Scott Counsel was making with my mother whose health was now deteriorating and whose care was less than satisfactory in which the assisted living facility the social worker had agreed to place her. My other brother and myself were not kept in the loop as to this so-called "progress" Scott Counsel was making for our mother and on our behalf, so we were left completely uninformed. An office manager contacted me still later informing us that a new social worker was replacing the earlier one. The office manager failed to state that this new social worker was incredibly green and inexperienced and worked only two days a week. We had signed up with a full-time social worker and now we were receiving less than half the services we originally agreed to pay for. In speaking with the new social worker today I learned she was not familiar with Mom's case, even though she visited the assisted living center around her time of hire in order to see my mother and meet one of my brothers. She told me she hasn't answered my phone call from Friday, as she does not work on Friday. I told the new social worker that we urgently need her help as we have to make a decision soon about moving Mom to a new facility, a nursing home, as she is not receiving adequate care at the assisted living center the earlier social worker placed her in. Rather than express her willingness to help, the social worker took umbrage to my conclusion about her poor knowledge of the case, and decided she did not like my tone of voice or attitude, and hung up on me. This behavior comes from a woman who excused herself three days earlier from answering my phone call to her because she does not work Fridays. It is now March and my brothers and I are scratching our heads collectively as to what we actually get for our initial $12,500 for elderly law services from Scott Counsel. My brothers were informed that next week there is going to be a new Power of Attorney needing to be signed but I was not notified of this plan and I do not know if I'm going to be invited to sign the legal paperwork electronically or not. Again, I telephoned Justin Scott to complain about all the mishaps and lack of response my brothers and I have experienced at the hands of this corporation, and like the last time I called, an office manager informed me Mr. Scott was unavailable since he was in a seminar and not able to be reached. No one else was available to address the serious concerns my brothers and I have. read more
