I'm very torn about this place…read more On the right hand side is a decent butcher with not bad prices and friendly butcher dudes behind the counter. However, on the left side is the deli and takeaway bit, manned by unfriendly and pretty incompetent females. One day I went in for a roll and one of the ogre's openly bitched about me. On a separate occasion, I was waiting to be served and had to leave immediately when I witnessed the tall blonde put salt on her hand and lick it off three times, then go serve someone without washing her hands!! Ugh. Won't be back for takeaway. Would consider returning for butcher meat though. It's almost like being in a different shop.

This is the best butcher shop that I know of either in America or in the UK. My mother-in-law lives…read moreright down the street so I go here every day. They are incredibly friendly and their display case is to die for! Everything looks fresh and good! They have ready to cook meals and an assortment of pies and rolls. Last time I was there the owner told me that his grandparents started the business 14 miles away from me, in Faneuil Hall in Boston, originally and then returned to Scotland.

The only bad thing i would say is that the size is a bit small for the business on occasions when i drive by i do see a couple of people standing outside waiting to be served but if they dont want to expand then thats ok. Its a great business so they can have it the way they like it! I would totally recommend using this butcher if your in the area

Great, freshly caught lobster and crab…read more We stayed in lovely Johnshaven for two nights. Just around the corner from our place was Murry McBay. We were looking for some fresh seafood and asked them were to buy some. We were very happy to learn that we can purchase lobsters and crabs directly from them, freshly caught (and still alive). We even got a box for them. So we bought two nice-sized crabs and a lobster. And....it did cost....9£!!! I mean wow....you can forget any seafood counter at any grocery store. Unbeatable prices and freshness! We cooked them for dinner. Great great flavour...did I mention already how fresh they were? Yeah, I guess I did. One of the crabs was female and had loads of eggs....a feast for seafood-lovers! So, if you stay in Johnshaven...or anywhere close: Look no further! This is THE place! Not sure about opening times, we just walked by, asked and got lucky.
