Went here to get my first bank card!…read more It was a stressful day and I didn't want anything else to bother me, I was worried, the thought of- ugh, a *bank* but... to my surprise it was perfect, I had an appointment for 12:00pm, I got there by 11:40am, went inside, waited at door, and around 5min later the lady at the desk told me, my agent would be coming to get me and take me to the back; They moved us to a chair in the back and around 10min later out she came, and took us into the office with lots of happy vibes and good jokes! she was so nice and welcoming. Easy directions to work the card and understanding on a real person level! I rate the customer service a 10/10! Perfect!!!!

Long version: I took 40 minutes off work to help my 75-year-old grandfather who can't walk without crutches come here to close an account. We arrived 25 minutes before closing time and they turned the him away because they had cut the line off for the tellers "5 minutes prior". Seriously, a disabled elderly man isn't worth adding 1 freaking person to the line??? So I called CIBC and the customer service agent apologized for the inconvenience. He said it takes an average of 5 minutes per customer. Went there again the following day at lunch. This time I waited in line about an hour. I was curious so I started a timer when there were only a few people in front of me outside just like the day before. From that moment until I got to the teller was 21 minutes and 18 seconds. That's including the guy in front of me that decided to have a conversation with the teller. To withdraw the money and close the account took about additional 4 minutes. That means that the entire "we cut the line off" spiel was a load of crap and they turned us away for nothing. I generally don't like giving negative reviews but hell if turning away a disabled person and making someone miss 3 hours of work to save yourself 4 minutes doesn't qualify as legitimately bad service then I don't know what would.

Unfortunately, the suggested meeting time ended up not being a good time for me. I then went to this CIBC on Monaghan Rd where the wait was short and I received very friendly service. I felt the banking officer was someone that was kind and caring and actually saw a person sitting in front of her instead of just a number. She suggested different baking choices but was not pushy in any way, she just wanted me to be aware of what was available through CIBC. She took me to the bank machine to select my pins and walked me through setting my banking up online. If you are looking for a bank that provides good service I suggest you check out this CIBC.
