This place is just so sketchy. Scope Medical does Independent Medical Exams which means that if you're going here, chances are it's because you were injured on the job and your place of business is sending you to see a "independent medical examiner" aka someone who will give a 2nd opinion but who is on their side. In short, visits are usually mandatory.
The doctor that I saw was fine. It was an in-and-out deal consisting mainly of him reviewing files I've collected and doing a brief medical exam. He was matter-of-fact and told me I'd hear from my place of business regarding the continuation of benefits. Whatever.
But the business itself does not make one feel at ease. 1st of all, 3 series of staircases to get to the offices? I mean...you're injured on the job. Most probably with a back injury. So they make you walk up stairs? I mean, sure there is a sign that says if you require assistance to call a number. But I'd like to see what happens. I mean, do 2 burly guys emerge and proceed to carry you up the stairs?
Secondly, the decor. Pink painted walls and faded, frayed green carpet. Not the mention the sink in the waiting room with dishes piled up. SO unprofessional.
And...I'm still trying to decide what to do with this...the receptionists in the other room were SO loud I could hear them laughing, ridiculing, and discussing the specifics of other patient's cases. Incredibly inappropriate. And against the law.
Other than that, it is what it is. Like I said, neutral experience with the MD, but the receptionists and the *appearance* of this place kinda screams shadey medical practice. Try not to let it get to you and be sure to gather some docs to be on your own side. read more
