04/2023 The Apple barrel restaurant…read moreLocated inside Sapp Brothers travel plaza staffed by them but run as its own entity. Somewhere to like travel centers of America and Petro where they still have some country prides and iron skillets this is basically Sapp Brothers restaurants and some of their plazas still that have not closed up through the years in our now post covid world. As you come in through the travel plaza past Dunkin' Donuts from the car area or through the truck area you will see a separate entrance and it's a nice size Cafe. Breakfast is served all day long until they close currently hours are 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. excluding major holidays. Some people on other review sites say it's a little high on price it's kind of competitive nowadays a lot of things are a little bit higher but one thing I can definitely say is a quality you get what you pay for and boy was I impressed. I came and sat down I was greeted immediately I ordered up some cawfee splash of milk on the side for it like I like to add with my Splenda. they were almost ready to change shifts but not quite I got a menu she gave me plenty of time and I decided to go with the hamburger steak one of my favorites two eggs over medium hash browns not real crunchy and sourdough toast. I looked at the menu and saw they still have a great dinner selection too apparently they're burnt ends are a big big favorite I'll have to come back and put the feed bag on for those eventually. Most of the Sapp Brothers in my travels don't have restaurants there's only a couple I hit anymore where is there further out west they still have many with restaurants in them but I don't run that far west anymore hell I don't even think I've been to Omaha Nebraska and more than 5 years or west of there. My food came out I was very impressed it wasn't just a frozen hamburger patty this was a hand padded because it was lopsided and uneven which shows you oh yeah that's how you do it the right way you handpad it smash It Down came out fantastic. Put a splash A1 on there along with the eggs over medium just like I like them sourdough toast was good the hash browns that they were hash browns LOL. Other than that I was highly impressed and definitely decided to create the page because I noticed on the Google machine they have a review for the Apple barrel on its own too so I decided to take a shot and make one up because it's definitely worth it. This location is a very high traffic area because it sits at the junction coming south of Kansas City where you split off on State route 7 to go to words the gateway to the Ozarks from there down into Springfield lot of traffic comes through here. In the early weekend hours you may have to wait a bit for a seat cuz it does tend to line up a little bit I came in after the crowds it was a good time for me for brunch. Definitely will return when I'm in the Kansas City South area

We got there around 9am and were seated right away with no wait, but by the time we were leaving there was definitely a line forming. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. I especially appreciated that they offer gluten-free options, which can be hard to find at breakfast places. The drinks were definitely a highlight--strong (in a good way) and well-made, which is always a plus! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the service was friendly throughout our visit. Overall, definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for a solid breakfast spot.

I love the vibe of the place with the crystal chandeliers and the writing on the walls. Emily was a fantastic server. She waited patiently while we looked over the vast menu. I ended up choosing the corned beef n' hash and it was honestly the best breakfast I've eaten in a long time and the best corned beef ever. The drizzle of mustard on top added the perfect tang to the tender strips of corned beef. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium. The hash had a great consistency with a fine chop on the veggies.

My son said the hamburger was great and tasted so fresh, and my husband said that his western omelette and wheat toast were delicious. We ordered cinnamon rolls to go, and they were amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and this will become a family favorite place to eat!

The western omelet was really good, plenty of cheese. Their hashbrowns had a nice crisp to them/ their sourdough toast was buttered and very crispy, I really enjoy a good slice of sourdough. The burrito was also really good, packed full. Chose chorizo as the meat and it was very tasty. Also tried the lemon ricotta pancakes which were the perfect amount of sweet and zest. They're regular pancakes topped with a raspberry sauce and lemon zest. I would definitely come back but aim for an outdoor seat.

Follow your nose to a tucked away corner on the 3rd floor to find the tiniest little kitchen serving some delicious breakfast and lunch food. The Painted Rooster by the sweetest elderly couple you've ever talked to. It's only open on First Friday weekends (when Bella Patina is open) until 2 pm, so you always need to plan ahead and incorporate this breakfast stop into your First Friday antiquing. You place your order at the counter and give your name. When your food is ready, they call your name and bring your food over to you. This gets a little chaotic when it starts to get busy. The space is small with a couple of tables, so it gets packed quickly. The breakfast burrito is comfortingly delicious and generously sized for the price. Don't forget the homemade salsa over by the silverware and napkins under the windows. There are always freshly homemade baked goods that you must indulge in. The Painted Rooster is the perfect way to fuel your Bella Patina wanderings! I recommend starting here and then working your way back down to the first floor!

The food was very good the flavor was on point and my favorite was the hash browns they were buttery and crunchy. My wife and I shared the meat lovers breakfast burrito and it was good size and filled with the filling. The sauce on top had a little kick to it but that could have been the veggies on top, but would get it again. Our friend got the breakfast enchiladas and said it was very good, she likes the green sauce over the red. I didn't personally try so I can't say how it was. My son ordered the traditional breakfast, and that's exactly what it was, but he liked it. The pancakes are the size of the plate and had a fluffy center and crispy edges. We did have to ask for more syrup because they were so big. The only reason it was not a 5 was because I felt the waitress could have been around more. I felt that since we had a group of 7 and the gratuity was already added she didn't worry about it. Our waters went empty and we had to ask a different waiter for more water and syrup, when she came over the water was warm and didn't have any ice. A kid spilled her syrup we went and asked for a rag and we cleaned it up which we expected but we had to flag someone down to see if she could get more syrup. I just felt she wasn't as attractive as she could have been. We went there on a Monday around 9:45, so it wasn't extremely busy. I would say that you should try it, it was good food!
