Dont fall for Shab's nice guy act Edit: I raised a dispute with my credit company and raised this with citizens advice and they returned my money as per their section 73 of credit agreement and in line with consumer rights act of 2015. If i had the time, money and energy I would take you to court which is why I waited until now before going public with this. You are a criminal and a liar and should be reprimanded. I will not let you get away with this. The story: This was the third time i rented a bike from them. In the past the gears got stuck and left me stranded for an hour but i thought maybe its because im learning. This time, i picked the bike at Monday 4:30 with half a tank, rode all the way to camden, turned the bike off to go into tesco, when i came back the bike wouldnt turn on. This was around 5:45. Not sure how you have a mechanic shop and claim that i killed the battery while i was riding it. So i called them that night but no answer because the shop was closed (fai enough). I managed to park the bike at one of my friends' over night so it doesnt get stolen. Next day i called them trying to resolve this and they told me to call RAC and that of course if anything is wrong with the bike theyll refund me. I asked them to email me this, they ignored my emails. RAC scheduled for Wednesday 10AM and they jump started the bike. I called and told them that Id like to bring the bike back after work and they said no problem but we will close the shop so you're gonna have to leave it outside and hand the rented helmet to the shop next door. I asked if they could email me that just so we can have this agreed. They ignored my calls and emails all day. At 4pm Shab answered and says no we won't email you and everything is at your own risk not sure what you want from us. When they saw that Im asking for documents and Im trying to do this the right way their nice guy act dropped. So instead, i rode the bike back to my place to park it safely and refueled the tank. On thursday (day when my rental was due to end) i took a half day off to ride it back and rid myself of this hassle but the bike wouldnt turn on. I called them and i called RAC. They told me that they wont tow the bike unless it cannot be fixed on the spot. They came, examined and towed the bike back. After a week of radio silence i ask for a refund and they say that the bike is working perfectly and that i had flattened the battery. I rented a bike with the expectation that its road worthy and that I dont have to spend a week trying to turn it on and return it to you. You wasted an entire week and youre just a bad person with the way you treated me and i genuinely wish that you get what you deserve.

I was looking into quotes a bike on behalf of a friend and found it very useful that the shop has a service called "rent try buy scheme" whereby you can hire a bike for the weekend, and then if decide you want to keep it - they will deduct the hire cost and sell it to you. The wonders of the credit crunch I suppose. As I mentioned, I'm no expert but as someone stepping into the shop without an inkling of even how to sit on a motorbike properly, the staff were very friendly and refrained from taking advantage of my lack of knowledge.

They also have a crash helmet recycling service, where old helmets are sent to West Africa where they are used for passengers on motorcycle taxis, whose owners would not otherwise be able to afford any protection.

When I asked them if they could provide me a vehicle to work with while the bike's in warranty I was just told that they don't have any. Didn't bother to help me out in any way whatsoever. They don't care about their customers, not one bit. Took away 3 and a half grand from me and told me to sort myself out. Ripped me off big time. Six weeks after I bought the bike I brought it to be serviced at Motoden. Turns out, the bike that I had bought was faulty with extreme dangerous wear and tear and the garage that I purchased the bike from declined to take any responsibility. As a student, the bill I was faced with shortly after purchasing the bike was enough to make me cry! Motoden saved the day. It took a few days for me to try to sort out the warranty and speak with the other garage, but Motoden stored my bike while I attempted to sort the problem. When the garage declined all responsibility, Motoden helped me to sort my bill so that it was far more manageable. I am so grateful to know a company like Motoden as they were extremely supportive throughout this awful process and without them I probably would have thrown by scooter away! I wish that I had bought a new bike from them. All of the staff are always customer focused and knowledgeable. I could not be more appreciative to have a company like Motoden on my side. And several years ago I discovered Honda Riders of Peckham. Honda Riders are one of the few family-run year-dot shops left in the game. They've got bits for bikes that even the manufacturers have probably forgotten! It's run by Natalie and her head-honcho Paul, and between them they have amassed a detailed knowledge of most common bikes & their particular idiosyncrasies. Especially beneficial to the economy end of the market; there's no limit to the age of a bike they'll attempt to repair. And therein lies a problem, because old bikes often have seized bolts, cracked & corroded parts etc, all of which may not only raise the bill unexpectedly, but also lead to delays and a backlog in their work schedule. But new or old, they always try to please, whereas most other shops will simply turn a machine away after a certain age. They are only two, and work ebbs & flows. Sometimes the phone never stops ringing, and customers are in and out all the time. It can get very, very hectic, and then patience is needed. At other times, when it's quiet, they may look at your bike - and fix it - while you wait. It's a hands-on firm; both Natalie & Paul wield spanners and the telephone often gets lost amongst the jobs! They also stock parts and accessories, including crash-helmets & clothes and a wide range of serviceable secondhand components which they will offer to fit at a big discount to new. This can both save time if the part would otherwise need to be ordered, as well as keeping the bill to a minimum. They're also a licenced MOT station. There's only a handful of other firms like theirs in south London, and I know from experience that Honda Riders are the cheapest and most friendly. Frankly; I can't imagine dispatching life without them. I just hope I can retire before they do.

I was able to find a comfortable helmet and a sturdy chain lock, and get 10% off with the Yelp check-in offer. The guy who helped me out was very friendly and gave me a list of things to check on the used Vespa to make sure I wasn't getting a bad deal. He gave me L plates for free, too! Afterwards, I ended up buying the scooter, and realizing I needed more than just a helmet and chain, dropped by again to purchase a scooter cover, a reflective hi-vis belt, and a phone stand. Overall a 5-star experience!
