I have visited ScooterDen twice now, once for sales and once for parts, and both times I've felt condescended by the male staff.
The first was on a visit to look into buying a new scooter. The sales guy talked me through the range helpfully, but after I saw that they didn't have what I needed and headed on my way, his parting attempt was to flood me with compliments based on my looks, as if this would make me likely to want to become a patron of their business. I left with distinct sense of having been observed, rather than served.
The second was on a visit about a minor mechanical issue with my bike - after being told to move my bike twice in very brush tones, I was eventually addressed by a member of staff who made me feel like a naive idiot for not having booked in prior to visit. My local bike shop will often take on board a 5 minute job at no notice, which is why I decided to give these guys a second try. Instead of saying 'so sorry, we can't fit you in', he said 'oh and you've not booked have you', and then went on to mansplain how to make a booking. He then made unhelpful comments as I struggled to get the bike started again - I couldn't get out of there quick enough.
I won't be coming back to give them another chance. read more
