Her only playmates at home are my two elderly, small dogs who do not have the patience for her. I found Sniffer Station after initially looking at some of the bigger companies in the area. While there are daycares closer to me, I was concerned by some of their policies and my dogs safety. One major benefit of Sniffer Station is that they do not allow collars to be worn during playtime (which I feel is a major safety risk and their jaws can get stuck on the collar). They also have staff inside the play yards as opposed to just watching a camera or standing outside. After an initial (free) evaluation she was cleared to start attending daycare. Being a rescue my puppy has been shy and anxious around people, but thanks to puppy playtime at Sniffer Station and now weekly daycare sessions she LOVES other dogs. She is her most confident when she pulls up to daycare. Through her interactions with the staff I can slowly see her start to build her confidence with humans as well. She actually goes up to them now looking for affection. My puppy has learned the safe and proper way to interact with both other dogs and humans. In addition, my husband and I have also learned so much about how to actually interact and train a puppy. When we rescued her I was adamant that she would go to both training and daycare so she could learn how to socialize (which I failed with my first 2 dogs). We started attending the free Puppy Playtime sessions on Saturdays as soon as she was old enough which was lead by Chris. He showed us how to introduce the puppies to one another and then the playtime began. Some behaviors I thought were a problem he assured us that it was just how puppies play and that they were ok. We learned a lot about dog body language during this time, which helped us at home with our other dogs as well. After a few months we signed up for the lowest level training class that they offer, and Chris helped us learn basic commands that were both helpful and necessary. We learned come, sit, lay down, stay, and how to hold their attention. Most importantly we learned "leave it" and "drop it" which is crucial when your dog likes to put everything in their mouth and they don't know what's dangerous. Chris taught us both verbal commands and hand signals. At the end of each lesson we were given printed instructions on what to work on at home. One thing that was not covered in our class that we were having trouble with at home was our puppy going crazy when we were getting her food ready for her. She would be barking nonstop and would not sit down and wait. We were able to add on short training lessons within her daycare sessions to address her specific issue. She was able to work one on one with Chris and get the help she (and we needed). Most recently we have signed up for their agility class. Chris leads all the dogs (and parents) through a large outdoor yard course complete with sway bridges, tunnels, teeter totters, jumps, and more. Honestly I didn't think my dog would be able to do any of them but she has surprised me. Is she going to be an athlete? Absolutely not, but she is having fun in a safe environment. Another benefit is their boarding services which I utilize every time I go out of town because I do not have family or friends that can babysit such a large dog. The scheduling and drop off process for boarding is simple, and I am happy that I can always add a kennel bath before pickup. Finally, what I really love about Sniffer as a dog parent is all of the activities that they offer throughout the year. Food Fridays, beauty pageant photo shoots, Mother's Day crafts, etc. I don't have human children so I am always willing to pay for a printed photo of my dog child! The staff really goes above and beyond not just ensuring safety but also offering enrichment and a personal connection. When we walk in the door my dog is immediately greeted by name, and she immediately goes to the door to get the fun times started. I trust her reaction more than anything, and again the only thing she displays when we pull up is confidence and excitement. My favorite part is when she paws at the outside door if I am not opening it fast enough for her to get in. Heather at the front desk as well as Alex and Ashley in the yard are always so sweet and helpful, but everyone we have encountered has been great. When I bring my now 1.5 year old dog home she is immediately passed out for the night and sometimes through the next day. That alone would keep me coming back, but it's the training, the dedication, the fun, and the safety that Sniffer Station offers that makes them our go-to daycare and boarding facility.

I had lost one of my cats who had been a patient there for quite a while and when he passed, I didn't receive a card or anything from the office. Small thing but important for pet owners. A few weeks later my other cat all the sudden couldn't stand on one of her paws and kept falling over so I made a makeshift cast for it to help give it support. I took her to the vets the next day and the vet, I don't remember her name, but she was African American. She asked me if I made that cast and I said yes. She said you did a good job. She then informed me that my cat had Cancer. What? When did this happen? I was of course devastated especially after just losing my other cat just weeks before. She says just take her home. No ideas for care nothing. She hands me the cat back and I say aren't you going to wrap her leg up again to help her stand. She says it doesn't matter anyway. It won't make a difference. I said are you crazy would you not want the doctor to wrap your leg if you couldn't walk? So cold hearted. I was done !!! never went back. Went to another vet ASAP. Also, what kind of vet has poisonous flowers right outside their entrance to the office? Insane! STAY AWAY FROM HERE!

Tara, is a…read moreproclaimed "Groomer" at this location who has, for lack of legal terms, assaulted my dog/companion. I have had my loved one groomed at Bingos in Royal Oak (amazing staff) and at the Grosse Point Pet Salon- also very professional (in-laws were old Grosse Pionters) for the past half + decade) I only point this out as what I am about to show you, will be in disbelief, as it was to me. Tara, I believed attempted to rush and with disregarded the relationship between her and Chip. I have worked with patients who are homeless, belligerent and drug addicts- as a ER/ICU nurse from Detroit, Virginia to Sacramento. I understand these situations are difficult but you already committed by the time to called me. I believe there was no introduction or approach phase that Tara allotted. (Not saying my dog deserves the same respect to unconditional care, but does deserve the sense of approach as when to and when not to intervene, (that is all). Tara did not give Chip that condition, you lacked the humanity to sense that, and I sincerely hope you find peace before you preform maleficence (speaking to Tara). I actually stayed outside Auckland, NZ with sheep farmers during a student ambassador program (2006) I completed in through the USGov- who handled cattle for slaughter with more respect than what I believe Tara did for my beloved Chip. I have respect for Dr. Plein and his end handling of my relationship with them (no, I will never return). Tara is of NO action of Dr. Pleins'. She is an action of her own. I would have hesitation if she were to handle your beloved furry one. I have no opinion on her employment status but I would have HESITATION, as a registered nurse. AVOID TARA!!! For context. I dropped Chip off, who was somewhat matted. But the photos are of what I had been presented with on my return. Note the chunks of hair I proceeded to remove from Chip after the staff escorted him out of a cage. Chip was dropped off prior to the groomers arrival for her shift. The location opens at 8am, I dropped him of at the earliest 0730-0745. timestamp of my voicemail was 0808, to pick him up (also attached). They open at 0800, and seemingly she slighted straight towards sedation as if that were within her scope as a "groomer". This is of great concern BTW in a very fundamental way. Meanwhile, this was his and her first time encountering each other. In no longer than 8 minute (given that is when the voicemail started recording) between you clocking in and forcing your shears against my dog and being aggravated against him for his lack of tolerance for you being rushed... such an inhumane human being! She decided to shave him down the middle (like two-face) and then declare he was "too aggressive" to handle. Chip, was eventually managed by this facility. Like I said, this beloved family member of mine has never been dealt such MALEFICENCE from a proclaimed "groomer" such as Tara. Please avoid her as your groomer. Dr. Plein Rectified my disgust for the situation but I cannot speak for her continuation of employment. I can only say, here is your warning.

I have been…read morebringing my dogs to this groomer for a few appointments now and have loved the haircuts up until my last time. When I had went in the last time to pick them up, I was told as they were handing me back my dog, they had nicked his paw and put a little bandage over it and was told to not let him walk on cement for the next hour. When we had gotten home, we noticed it had bled through the bandage and continued to bleed on and off for the next day and ended up having to make a vet appointment the next day, and he now has to have a cone on his head for the next couple weeks. When I had called and let the groomers know that it was a lot worse than what they said, they said the owner would call me and let me know what they could do about it, since I did pay full price for his haircut as well without any reimbursement or discount off on their mistake. The owner emailed me the next day instead of calling me, saying "We know you understand as we have your signed Liability Waiver on file acknowledging a risk while being groomed." With the waiver at hand. I understand mistakes happen, but barely any remorse or even a call to me made it clear they don't value their customers. When my parents dog had gotten nicked at their groomer, they got a call in advance, a discount, and a call the next day saying sorry and checking on the dog. To not get any of these is pretty upsetting from a place that I thought I could trust my dogs at.

Dr Ashley and vet techs Destiny, Matt, and Jordan are polite and helpful. The veterinary nurse Alyssa is so helpful. They are such a lovely group of people and they along with Dr Amy have opened a sur center across the street. They are always looking for volunteers for their rescue and fosters for feeding homing and feeding mamas and kittens and puppies or adult animals. This place is magical. I once found an emaciated dog and as long as I was willing to foster until adoption they were willing to take it into their shelter program. I provided food and they provided medical care. For me it was a win and for the dog it was even better.
