The planetarium is located on the San Antonio College campus and has recently undergone a very expensive renovation. They have added new shows and overall it is a fun experience. Shows open to the public at this time are only on Friday evenings. The 630 PM show is open to all ages and the show targets the munchkin age group. The later shows are ages 6 and up only and offer a longer program. I would suggest arriving early because they only allow 60 people then cap it. There is not an option to reserve tickets online, which would be a lot more convenient. It seemed to be cash only. Tickets were $4 for kids and $5 for adults. The dome was super cool and it is definitely an activity the kids will remember. Once the show starts they don't allow entry/exit so keep that in mind.

She's a high school senior currently experiencing homelessness, and her mom wasn't able to celebrate her birthday this year.. As someone who runs a nonprofit, I reached out to a few places hoping someone would be willing to help make her day special. When I say they were absolutely amazing, I mean that with my whole heart. They were kind, welcoming, and so accommodating. They helped create a beautiful space where she and her friends could celebrate, laugh, and just be young for a moment. And listen... it wasn't just pictures. It was joy, confidence, and memories. Watching these girls light up, feel beautiful, and enjoy themselves in such a fun, creative environment meant everything. You could literally see their spirits lift. Everybody deserves to feel special, especially on their birthday and especially a young woman pushing through life and still showing up and doing her best. Because of this experience, I will always support and recommend them. If you're looking for a place that brings fun, creativity, and positive energy, this is definitely a spot you should check out

You can probably guess that we upgraded to the family of 4 year pass ($180, but used our day pass cost to include into that membership). Thinking ahead here, when it will get stupid hot later in the summer time, great way to take the kids to burn their energy and not get stir house crazy being inside all day - great way to break up the day from all the screaming and jumping around. The exhibits: wow, SO much variety! It's basically 2 stories, downstairs is the main floor area, and options! When you first enter, there's giant toy puzzles shaped as gears, then another room that takes you to a full on pretend city arena where there's little tykes cars for these kids to drive around in this pretend city, a HEB store front, airplane simulation, trolley, car wash, vet office, etc. so fun for these kids! Then another room where there's instruments like a giant piano and other fun things for kids to explore. Outside, there are 2 areas, one is a bubble play area to explore ways to play with bubbles in SO many different ways. Another outside area, playground with a giant slide, water play area with boats and things that you can imagine with water. For over stimulated kiddos, there's a room downstairs that's called a "calming room" where it's much quieter than out in the open if you need time to decompress from the chaos. Upstairs, there's a pretend to play with tools and right next to it and where you can assemble flowers. Now food wise, there's a Café Bakery Lorraine downstairs which include their macaroons, sandwiches, snack platter, crossiants, etc. It's a little pricey, but at least it's good! You are allowed to bring snacks, water inside, but not outside food like actual meals. Parking: it's free and first come first served out in the front area. Overall, we'll be back since we're now members! Excited to keep taking the kids here as there is so much to do here!

In particular Katherine, whose contributions and exploits are on exhibit throughout the museum. Ed Tobin was a fighter pilot. These are familiar names in San Antonio. Displays of aircraft and the people who flew them are depicted from WWI through Vietnam. Uniforms of most American armed services are on display, as well as those of Japan and Germany. All of us could brag about our aces. It is rather eclectic. One aisle displays aircraft parts; another, examples of the types of ammo used. A couple of videos are on a continuous loop for watching. After you finish perusing the inside displays, you can go outside to view actual full-size airplanes. This is pretty cool. A souvenir shop is available to buy hats, t-shirts, books, etc. There are a couple of donation boxes in the large warehouse of exhibits. There is a art gallery room. Some paintings have model airplanes arranged to look like they are flying out or otherwise part of the picture. I've added a photo here, but really it's better in person. The museum is manned by volunteers and is open daily from 9am - 4pm. One volunteer we encountered was busy making repairs. They were all very nice and answered any questions. Explained the layout and how to get through the displays. Give the museum a try. You may be surprised.

You ever be walking around the San Antonio River Walk, minding your own business, thinking you've…read moreseen it all... and then you stumble into something that just derails your dignity completely? That was me at Louis Tussaud's Waxworks. Now first off this place ain't just wax figures. It's like somebody took a museum, gave it a couple drinks, and said, "Let's make this weird." You've got celebrities staring at you, historical figures judging your life choices, and then out of nowhere you run into that little comedian guy. I can't remember his name, but he's about knee-high and twice as funny just standing there. Caught me off guard. I wasn't ready. But the real danger? Those mirrors out front. Now I don't know who designed those things, but they woke up one day and said, "Let's ruin people's self-esteem in the funniest way possible." Me and my daughter step up, and next thing I know my head looks like it's hosting a parade and my body's been downsized to economy class. I'm standing there built like a bobblehead that lost a fight. I couldn't stop laughing. Not a polite chuckle either I'm talking full-on, can't-breathe, tears-coming-down, people-staring kind of laughing. And that's the thing about San Antonio there's a hundred places trying to get your attention... good food, good sights, all of it. But every now and then you hit something like this, and it just sticks. No planning, no expectations just pure, dumb, unexpected fun. If you get the chance, go in. Laugh at the mirrors. Laugh at the wax people. Laugh at yourself a little. Because sometimes that's the whole point.

Louis Tussauds Wax Museum in San Antonio offers a unique blend of entertainment and artistry,…read moreshowcasing a variety of wax figures that range from celebrities to historical figures. The museum provides a fun experience for visitors looking to interact with life-sized replicas of their favorite personalities. However, the quality of the wax figures can be inconsistent. While some figures are impressively detailed and closely resemble the individuals they represent, others miss the mark significantly, making it challenging to identify the famous faces. This variance can detract from the overall experience, especially for those eager to see their idols captured accurately in wax. One standout exhibit is the portrayal of scenes from "The Passion of the Christ." This section is particularly moving, featuring emotive figures that convey the film's powerful themes. The craftsmanship in this display is commendable, evoking a strong emotional response and adding depth to the visit. The museum's layout is straightforward, making it easy to navigate through the various themed areas. In summary, Louis Tussauds Wax Museum is a mixed bag. While some wax figures may not hit the mark in resemblance, the emotional impact of exhibits like "The Passion of the Christ" and the fun of posing with various celebrities make it a worthwhile stop in San Antonio. It's best enjoyed with the understanding that it's more about the experience than the accuracy of every figure.
