The bathroom shower curtain was filled with black mold. The drain did not work in the tub. The bathroom sink around the edges of the drain were quite dirty. The rug was filthy. The refrigerator was warm. They did serve breakfast, but it was really questionable how much I want to eat there because it did not feel clean. Very hodgepodge. read more

We have stayed here a few times in the last year driving through. It is not anywhere you should stay! The breakfast consists of POPTARTS. NO JUICE, no eggs, it was a sham. There was no one to greet and they left a note with a key to the room in the desk for check in. read more

I was quoted 115.00 on the phone when I got there a different person said 150.00. She adjusted it and made it right but if it would have been 150 I would have kept on driving. We stayed here one night. Conveniently located right off I 15 and highway 50. Front desk was very nice and helpful. Rooms were very clean and had everything we needed, eg. hair dryer, coffee pot, microwave, and fridge. Didn't give it a five star only because breakfast was a little scarce. read more

Highly recommend this hotel, trust me you will not regret it. Great amenities, clean, complementary breakfast, registration is fast, and the service was excellent. My family and I had been driving all day and night we were lucky to find this place in the middle of nowhere. It was about 5AM and front desk agent AJ was absolutely helpful. Took us right in, price was great, and he was kind enough to let us check out pretty late. The room was good size, clean and well equipped with a nice morning view. AJ's customer service was outstanding, he went above and beyond and we very appreciatively. If it's the only hotel in town - keep driving! Why bother to fix or update anything if you're the only hotel in town? Old, worn blankets with holes, and an ancient fridge that freezes everything. Luckily we travel with our own blankets and pillows. I wouldn't put my head on one of those pillows. Want coffee in your room? Too bad, bring your own coffee maker. Ceiling tiles missing - who knows when the carpets were last cleaned. Subway or the little convenience store are the only places to eat. Thirty miles back on 50, there were 3 hotels. We should have stopped then. Avoid this place if at all possible. read more

We often travel through Utah, and typically stay in St George or SLC. Trying to cut our second day of driving by a bit, we opted to stay at the Scipio hotel. It was a disappointment. The bathroom was dirty and the complimentary breakfast was cold cereal rice crispies and Capt crunch, milk, OJ, and coffee (with generic powdered white creamer) -- that's it! It was a bed for the night but absolutely would not do it again. read more

Great little place to stay between Vegas and Salt Lake! Happened to stumble upon it because the other small towns didn't have any pet friendly rooms available for the evening, so happy I did! The employee was cheerful and accommodating even at the late hour I checked in. I've stayed in a lot of pet friendly rooms and this was the cleanest I've seen so far, and it didn't have that animal smell some pet friendly rooms do. I personally think the best part was that they even provided dog bowls didn't need them but the extra little touch made my night. The bed was comfortable and smelt amazing like really nice fabric softener not just generic bleached hotel sheets... ahh the small things that make a difference. read more

We stopped in at the Scipio hotel because of a huge snowstorm on the way to Moab and spent a couple of nights before the mountains cleared up. We could not ask for more. The price was right, the rooms were very clean and freshly painted, and the owners (Clint and Melanie) were so kind and great hosts. Melanie even surprised us and cleaned the snow off our car. This is the type of hard-working family hotel that is hard to find these days. They offer a simple but good home-cooked dinner option that hit the spot. You can eat either in your room or in the lobby. The continental breakfast was standard, but solid with no complaints. Local eating options are limited to the Dairy Queen and the Subway in local gas stations. I think this used to be a Super 8 motel, if that comes up on your GPS. The owners bought it a little while back. For the price, what you get in terms of cleanliness and comfortable service is excellent. read more

Nice clean. Decently priced lil hotel. On my way thru I was running out of hours to drive(big truck) so I decided to give them a shot. I first see two hogs parked right up front under the breezeway ( where they should be). The guy at the desk says was that you in the big truck? Yup I answered back. Although the sign advertises that this hotel is pet friendly, in actuality only select rooms are. No biggie except they didn't notice our request for one during the booking and put is in one of the non-pet rooms. On reading the fine print posted on the back of the door, we noticed their mistake and $100 fee that they would be charging for the "service provided". Upon checking with the front desk, we were downgraded to a pet room which was smaller, less up to date, and had both a broken door lock and broken toilet seat. The whole reason we stopped at this dive was because they advertised being pet friendly. Scammy behavior is scammy. Avoid. Update: Keycards only work on the third or fourth try. Great last minute option we used after a trip to Arches National Park. Literally in the middle of nowhere, but worth the extra drive to avoid the sleazy motels that were closer to the highway. Got a great $56 rate on Hotels.com, even though when we got there apparently that wasn't the going rate. They honored the $56 though. The pool area looks like the scene of a teen slasher movie, so don't get your hopes up for that. Also, the breakfast is lacking. The use of styrofoam bowls for the microwavable oatmeal is a health hazard for sure - (you can't microwave styrofoam, y'all). Would you like a side of cancer with that oatmeal? Otherwise, the room was comfortable, and comes recommended. read more

Late night driving on the 15, and all of the hotels in Utah seemed to be full. This place had 2 rooms left, and was more than accommodating in helping us find a rest and hot breakfast. Ice machine not working, toilet seat dirty, no soap in bathroom, one towel for two guests, sheet threadbare, TV didn't work (though manager did come in to fix it). This place rules. While road tripping from Montana back to LA we desperately needed a comfortable place to decompress and zone out. After reading the reviews we decided to stop in at the Scipio Hotel. The guy at the desk was super nice. The room was spotless, didn't smell funky (my complaint with so many hotels on this trip and others) and there is an awesome, indoor, private pool and hot tub. For a reasonable price, this is a fully renovated, clean (happily no scent of antisceptics) all things works, employees were very nice, guests were nice, the breakfast bar was full service and I would definitely stay here again. Father's Day weekend and everything is booked! We didn't plan ahead which was a mistake especially when traveling with a toddler. We called Scipio Hotel and they too were booked to capacity (shortage of staff). By then our little one was screaming in the car, I reckon Travis heard. He said come by and they would take care of us. How awesome! Their hotel is clean and simple. Their continental breakfast practical and oh so yummy! Went here based on a 4 plus star rating. Someone was overly generous with their rating. Nice guys at the front desk. My guess is they are without proper female supervision. I fixed the hook on the curtain. A/C was more of a fan than an air conditioner. Needed plunger but no one at the office. Great place and very accommodating owner. We stayed here with our three little girls on our way out to California from Denver. We made sure to stay again on our way back. There's an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna as well as nice clean rooms, continental breakfast at a reasonable price to stay. We stayed again on the way back and while the hot tub had been out of order, the owner cranked up the heat in the pool so my kids still had a great time. My husband cooked us dinner too out on the grill in the parking lot. Just very accommodating and pleasant experience all around. read more
